Chapter 352: Chapter 259 Human Behavior Pattern Observation_2

"Damn it! That kid knew the snake was poisonous!"

He repeated to Wen Suolin what the other party had said during the delivery process.

"No wonder he ran so fast! He was scared we’d find out and take it out on him!"

Wen Suolin paid them no further attention.

His focus was now all on the small box in his hands. If one of the bodyguards hadn’t been bitten by a snake and felt unwell just moments ago, he would have been itching to take out the little python from the box for a closer look.

But there was no rush, he thought; he could study it carefully once he reached the new breeding room.

Thinking of the breeding room, a surge of agitation welled up in Wen Suolin’s heart.

The Union Protection Bureau had taken down several illegal breeding operations last year, and he was the controlling figure behind one of them.

Outwardly, Wen Suolin’s research was on snake species, especially the genetic functions related to pythons.

In secret, however, he’d studied the genes of ball pythons, mutated reticulated pythons, and various other lineages. Twenty years ago, he had wanted to breed a batch of mutations with colors similar to koi carp.

But prior to this, there had been no successful cases.

Even if some had colors that seemed right due to gene stacking, they failed to survive, or if they did survive, they couldn’t grow well, were frail, and unable to reproduce, hence they were considered failures.

He had thought the method was incorrect, even planning to stack the genes with a new approach in a new place.

Unexpectedly, one of the python eggs he had abandoned had succeeded!

The little python’s appearance was everything he had imagined, except for the eyes.

According to his prediction, the eyes should have been solar eclipse red—black with red pupils.

But to his surprise, they turned out completely black, even the pupils. A deep, hidden black.

Perhaps that was why it survived?

Was this method of gene stacking leading to a higher survival rate for black-pupiled snakes?

The data was limited; he needed to conduct more experiments.

Nevertheless, he had succeeded!

He was the discoverer of this new gene!

"Koi," the name given by the zoos to this lineage, was also precisely what he had initially wanted to call it.

Thinking of this, Wen Suolin seethed with resentment. The naming rights to this lineage should have been his!

Not those zookeepers who got lucky and reaped the benefits of his work!

But it didn’t matter, there was still a chance for him to fight for the naming rights.

As long as he could breed more "koi."

If he could succeed with one, he could breed dozens, hundreds!

With time, both fame and fortune would be his!

Once imbued with the significance of "koi," their value would increase a hundredfold! A thousandfold! The value of those with good patterns would be incalculable!

In countries where koi were revered and cherished, they would sell incredibly well!

In the black market, where millions, even billions, are spent without concern for regulations, who would be the buyer? The law wouldn’t matter to them!

It might be strictly regulated domestically, but abroad, there were way more loopholes to exploit.

Keeping fish was no longer enough to satisfy some people’s desires.

Keeping pythons was far more exhilarating!

Wen Suolin’s mind was already crafting a new breeding plan.

His obsession with genetics had reached the point of madness.

When opening python eggs, if the genetic combination failed to meet his standards, he would have them processed into fertilizer on the spot. Failed genetics did not deserve life!

Any young pythons meeting his standards would be kept, some for his own hands to breed generation after generation. Others would be sold on the black market to fund his research.

If a large python had outlived its usefulness, it would be slaughtered immediately; its skin, gallbladder, and so forth could all be sold in the black market.

Last year, when the Union Protection Bureau investigated the market for python skins, parts of it traced back to their breeding base. After the investigation led them to the den, the figurehead was arrested, but the real controller, Wen Suolin, had already slipped away.

He had planned to find a place in some minor country to start anew, until he saw that viral variety show on the internet, the colors of the python egg they cracked open.

It was the gene he had been seeking!

After watching that "little koi" grow stronger and truly survive over several weeks, he had hired people to steal the snake.

And now, it was finally in his hands!

Wen Suolin’s heart burned with excitement.

At that moment, a new message suddenly arrived on his phone.

He flipped it open to look, his brow furrowing deeply.

"Hurry up! Yang City has traced it here!"

They had been careful to cover their tracks well; it shouldn’t have been possible for them to be traced this quickly. It surely was those two who had stolen the snake that had exposed them!

"Sir, it looks like that car behind us is following us!" one of the bodyguards said.

Wen Suolin glanced quickly behind him, then at the map on his phone, "When we pass by the hospital, split up!"

The vehicle sped up again.

Jia, driving the car, realized he had been spotted and pursued doggedly.

After rounding a bend, he noticed that the car had stopped near a hospital, its door facing the hospital ajar, with someone dashing into the hospital.

Then the door of the black car closed, and it drove away.

"What do we do?" Jia asked Feng Yi.

Feng Yi, gazing into the shiny energy lines in the night, said to Jia:

"You go after the car ahead, just follow it. There’s no knowing how many more people are inside, you don’t have to risk it alone. I’ll pursue the other one."

Jia thought Feng Yi meant to chase the person who had run toward the hospital, but Feng Yi got out of the car and instead headed down another road.

Suddenly realizing something, Jia called out, "Boss!"

"Hmm?"

"Hold back!"

Jia was worried Feng Yi wouldn’t restrain himself and cause a bloodbath.

Feng Yi waved at Jia, then continued chasing after the direction of the energy lines.

Elsewhere.

Protected by bodyguards, Wen Suolin ran into a construction site for a new scenic area.
