Chapter 312: Chapter 234 Beautiful Fool_1
Since Feng Yi had agreed to help Steve, he quickly arranged his work and vacation time and reported to the leader of the task group in advance.
The rules of the task group weren’t so strict, as they cared more about the results. As long as the tasks were completed well, everything else was negotiable.
Feng Yi’s performance in snake-catching was deemed "excellent", and even if he didn’t report, it wouldn’t have been a big deal, but going through the proper procedures was safer and more accountable.
On the agreed day, Jia drove Feng Yi directly to Steve’s new residence in Yang City.
Several cars were already parked in the garage of the residence, two of which were arranged by Steve, one for his own use and the other allocated to Feng Yi.
Besides that, Steve had assigned an assistant to Feng Yi to help with the zoo’s work.
Steve told Feng Yi the day’s plan, "The zoo is also transporting snakes from the research base today. We’ll split up, I will head to Nini and the Magic Dragon first, with the TV crew filming me. You help keep an eye on the other snakes, occasionally lend a hand, and don’t worry about anything else, Wu will handle it."
Wu was the assistant assigned to Feng Yi, responsible for coordinating with the zoo. He was older than Feng Yi, who called him "Brother Wu."
"Okay."
Feng Yi looked around, the TV crew had already started filming B-roll, curiously eyeing their side. The cameraman wanted to shoot this way but refrained because of the agreement.
Steve explained, "You mentioned you wouldn’t formally participate in the variety show, so your involvement hasn’t been made public yet, and only a few inside the TV crew know. I’ve told them not to film you without your consent."
After explaining the arrangements, they quickly started on the day’s work.
Once in work mode, Steve had eyes only for his beloved animals, not caring at all what the TV crew filmed, as he had already negotiated with them to shoot anything as long as it didn’t interfere with his work or his beloved animals.
While Steve was transporting the two large snakes, Feng Yi helped out as well.
Steve also showed Feng Yi a drawing that a child from the research base had made for the two big snakes.
"A researcher’s child drew it. He’s particularly fond of these two," Steve said.
Feng Yi took a look.
The childlike drawing revealed that the artist was young, possibly unafraid of snakes due to parental influence.
On the drawing, two big snakes were coiled around a pig’s head.
"What a picture of two dragons playing with a pig!" Feng Yi exclaimed.
Steve laughed heartily, "Their favorite food usually includes piglets. That kid has drawn other beloved creatures too, but those in the drawings aren’t necessarily pigs; they could be rabbits as well."
It was a warm day in Yang City, and Feng Yi wore a short-sleeved shirt with no watch. When handling snakes, he needed no additional accessories.
Steve had prepared two large boxes, which housed a green anaconda and a black and golden reticulated python.
After securing the snakes in the boxes, they didn’t linger but drove straight to the zoo.
Steve’s car led the way, with Feng Yi’s slightly behind. Upon arrival at the zoo, Feng Yi had added sunglasses on his nose bridge and was wearing a hat.
Not following Steve, Feng Yi’s car stopped elsewhere.
Assistant Wu handed over a pass, "This is the completed permit. Today, the reptile house will be cordoned off with a barrier line, and people without a permit won’t be able to enter."
Today, the zoo hadn’t adjusted its closing time but had specifically set aside the entire day to "restock", mainly to accommodate Steve and the variety show’s filming. This was part of their collaboration with the zoo.
Feng Yi followed Assistant Wu through the staff entrance.
With Steve drawing much attention over there, not many people noticed them here.
"The zoo just told me, the other snakes from the research base have arrived, and they should start transferring them here," said Assistant Wu.
"Are these glass houses newly built?"
Feng Yi pointed to a whole wall of glass enclosures of various sizes.
The glass enclosures were not stiff, boxy spaces entirely enclosed in glass. They had natural elements incorporated into the frames and interiors. And from the smell, it was clear these were newly constructed and had not yet been inhabited by snakes.
"Yes, the number of visitors interested in snakes has increased. Since it’s strictly regulated, many interested people can’t keep them and come to the zoo instead. Seeing the opportunity, the zoo increased their investment. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have introduced so many snakes from the research base again. Though, there aren’t many venomous snakes, mostly various pythons including tree pythons and ball pythons. Have you seen their live stream? I heard it’s quite popular. Ever since you gained popularity online, their reptile house’s live streaming room has seen a sharp increase in viewers," said Assistant Wu.
"I haven’t paid attention."
How many snakes had been introduced and the popularity of the live streaming room held little interest for Feng Yi. His task for the day was to keep a close watch on the transportation of the snakes and to check their conditions and living environment.
"Let’s go check on the large pythons first. They should be over there, probably beginning the transfer. According to the list, there are seven of them," Assistant Wu pointed ahead.
Not far from them.
The zoo staff were preparing to open the newly arrived large boxes.
Inside the building, the temperature wasn’t as scorching as outside.
A young man broadcasting live with his phone pointed the camera at the large box.
"Today we won’t be looking at green iguanas; Brother She has a surprise for everyone, yes, the big surprise we announced a few days ago!"
"The zoo is adding new members, and some exhibits are in closed status, not open to the public."
"The big box in front of us is what was brought in today. Guess what’s inside?"
