Chapter 311: Chapter 233 Like a Viper_3

Wu Huan, engrossed with his watermelon juice, nearly spat it out.

Just a moment ago, when he heard Feng Yi mention the model collection museum, he thought it was a small-scale operation similar to those model shops on the streets, but with the mention of the "Titan Serpent," he knew the place was big!

How big was the Titan Serpent?

Coiled or stretched out, it couldn’t possibly fit in a small space!

Wu Huan had seen various online speculations about Feng Yi’s situation, but based on what he had seen in person today, he was very sure that those who said Feng Yi was "down on his luck and only maintaining an online persona" were dead wrong!

Earlier, when he brought up the invitation price for that variety show, Feng Yi’s reaction was very calm, or rather, there was no reaction at all—it wasn’t an act.

Now Feng Yi was talking about building a collection museum and had already purchased the land. Did that sound like someone who was down on his luck?

This kid might really not be lacking money!

With this in mind, his approach to cooperate with Feng Yi and incentivize him with money was not going to work.

It’s not a problem if an Internet celebrity lacks money, but it is if he has more than you do!

Aiyo, my spokesperson, when will we strike a deal!

Wu Huan sighed helplessly.

However, the other two people present were paying no mind to his rich inner monologue.

Steve continued discussing his plans with Feng Yi.

Previously, Steve hadn’t founded such an institution, and even if he applied, he would’ve been rejected because his qualifications and achievements were not sufficient to get approval from the insurance association. Besides, with Steve traveling all year round back then, he definitely didn’t have much energy to devote to the institution.

Now, as Steve was getting older, his energy wasn’t what it used to be, and he no longer wanted to hustle as he did before. As he was now interested in creating such an institution, the insurance association would likely give it careful consideration.

"I’ll talk with them a little more. Once the permit is secured, we can start construction. I’ve already picked a construction team, and the design drafts are being made. I’m involved in the design process myself, so it won’t be long till they have a new and safe home!"

As he spoke, Steve’s expression grew dreamier.

Surrounded by a multitude of snakes might be a nightmare for others, but for Steve, it was a dream come true!

Feng Yi: "..."

Wu Huan: "..."

Feng Yi cleared his throat to bring Steve back from his reverie.

"Let’s get back to the topic of the variety show. Steve, what you mean is, I don’t need to formally participate in the show—just to help look after the large snakes while you’re filming, and keep an eye on their conditions in a new environment?"

"Exactly! I wouldn’t trust anyone else with them! If you don’t want to appear on camera, I’ll talk to them about it." Steve cared more about Feng Yi’s abilities than his online popularity.

"Appearing in one or two shots is fine. Just not too many," Feng Yi said.

He could help Steve and also fulfill the publicity department’s task from the conservation association, and it wouldn’t take much time.

"Ah, that’s great! Whenever you’re available, we’ll go by your schedule. Just come over and help me out, and I’ll negotiate your compensation..."

"No need for compensation. I’m just going to give you a hand," Feng Yi replied.

Since it wasn’t a formal show appearance, the invitation fee wouldn’t be much. Feng Yi would rather decline it, as accepting the fee would change the nature of his participation.

Feng Yi checked the calendar and picked a date.

With the Sea Serpent Task Force, there wasn’t work every day; there were rest days in between, and it was possible to take time off. Driving over would be convenient.

The park’s equipment needed three to four days of maintenance, so Feng Yi chose a date for his day off just before the Qingming holiday.

After helping Steve with this, he would go with the butler to sweep his grandmother’s tomb.

Once the time was set, Steve was delighted,

"Thanks! I owe you one!"

To express his gratitude for Feng Yi’s help, Steve planned to go to the research center and bring over a nearly six-meter-long Burmese python specimen for Feng Yi’s collection museum.

But since it wasn’t a done deal yet, he didn’t mention it to Feng Yi.

At mealtime, Steve invited Feng Yi and Wu Huan to a nearby restaurant he liked a lot.

After Feng Yi returned to the monitoring station, Steve and Wu Huan went back to the residential area.

Wu Huan asked Steve, "It’s not just him who can catch snakes. He’s not interested in the variety show, and he won’t have much screen time either. Why didn’t you choose someone else?"

Steve looked up at the clear night sky and said, "Feng Yi is a very intriguing person, and his feelings towards snakes are pure. I still haven’t quite figured out what his intentions are but, they’re definitely not bad anyway.

"Plus, his snake-catching technique wasn’t developed from long-term training or sufficient experience but seems more like it’s based on a natural talent and instinct that others can’t compare to, including me.

"He’s extremely sensitive to the snakes’ conditions. Whether a snake is content or angry, showing dominance or just bluffing, I can judge based on their behaviors, but Feng Yi is different—he can determine accurately even without looking. With the new batch of snakes introduced at the zoo, there are too many for me to check each one’s condition by myself.

"Furthermore, when he sees endearing and beautiful creatures like Nini and the Magic Dragon, he doesn’t look at them with eyes that see money. He doesn’t think about how to gain more profit from them."

Steve listed several reasons of his own.

Even though Wu Huan didn’t agree with describing the Serpent as "adorable," he did agree with the rest.

The way Feng Yi looked at those two large snakes didn’t show disgust, nor infatuation or calculation—just a very neutral manner, similar to someone looking at a flavorless glass of water.

Even Wu Huan himself couldn’t help but take pictures with his phone after seeing the robust Serpent and the vibrant Black Gold Child, eager to share them on his social circle or brag on a social platform.

But Feng Yi didn’t.

It seemed that all the astonishment and wonder in the eyes of others were mundane to him.

And it was for these reasons that Steve regarded Feng Yi as a "reliable partner."

If Feng Yi had shown even a hint of ulterior motives upon seeing the two large snakes, Steve would not have approached him.

Steve paused for a moment, then continued, "Besides, there’s also a personal reason. I don’t know why, but when I see Feng Yi, I feel very happy, pleased. If I had to choose a partner to work with, my first choice would definitely be him!"

Wu Huan’s look of doubt intensified, "You’re not... having any improper thoughts, are you?"

Steve wanted to spit in his face, "Dirty eyes see everything as dirty!"

Steve said earnestly, "Seeing him is like seeing a snake! But not just any snake—a rare, highly venomous snake with that mysterious and precious quality..."

Wu Huan was speechless for a while before he said, "If Feng Yi knew you described him like that, he would probably cut ties with you, right?"

Who compares their friend to a poison snake!

No matter how thick the filter, one fact couldn’t be changed—

"Like a poison snake" is that not an insult?!!
