Chapter 214: Chapter 171: It Draws_2

Many people do not have a clear concept of what a six-meter python looks like, and upon seeing a large python, they think it’s seven or eight meters long, or even some exaggerated claims reach ten meters. But that’s just a visual misjudgment. A six-meter python might be mistaken for eight meters.

It’s rare to encounter a six-meter python in the wild; many of the exaggerated records contain a hefty dose of fabrication. Even the reticulated python, known as the longest python in the world, is seldom found to exceed six meters in the wild. Not to mention Burmese pythons, rock pythons, and green anacondas, such specimen are considered the extreme individuals, and they’re precisely the ones Steve has always wanted to find but hardly ever comes across.

The one in front of us, if really taken out, a single photo could make people mistake it for eight or nine meters, and there would definitely still be some claiming it’s over ten meters.

But it’s not that long.

According to Feng Yi’s experience, this one might exceed seven meters, but definitely not eight meters.

Just over seven meters.

That’s already quite rare!

Before this, it was unusual to capture a six-meter long python in the wild in Florida.

Those that were captured and then grew larger while being raised in captivity no longer belong to the wild capture records.

However, this one will certainly set a new record.

That wild aura cannot be cultivated in a breeding box.

Most people would regard it as a man-eating behemoth, a dangerous, death-bringing terrifying creature that they would flee from at first sight.

Even the hunters participating in this competition would be extremely cautious if they encountered it, and they would definitely not, and definitely not wish to face it up close and alone.

However, Feng Yi’s pupils were changing with excitement.

His gaze at it was especially affectionate.

Why did he travel thousands of miles to come here?

Why is he still guarding here unwillingly during the shedding period?

When encountered, he would not let go!

It shouldn’t be here either.

Like Warren has said, these pythons are invaders to Florida’s great swamps for the other creatures. Even Steve, who especially loves snakes, would not let them go if he encountered them in the swamp.

A hybrid python of such massive size in front of us is a top priority for eradication.

It may have already spent 20, or even 30 years here. The swamp was like a buffet restaurant for it.

It had become the absolute dominator here, even making alligators its chosen prey.

However, its reign as the dominator could only end tonight.

Feng Yi held the snake’s head with one hand to prevent it from biting him.

With the other hand, he unraveled the coiling python’s body.

Pythons constrict their prey to cut off their breathing and blood circulation.

In the pond, mud and various obstacles limited Feng Yi’s movement. After struggling for a while, he simply plunged into the water.

In the water, pythons have the advantage; they constrict their prey and drag it underwater to drown.

But obviously, the person it had coiled around tonight was unlike any creature it had encountered before.

A tail, thicker than the python’s body and covered in scales, lashed out.

It struck against the body of the python attempting to coil around again.

Splash—

The giant python was whipped out of the water, thrown into the air, and then hung on a tree by the pond.

The branches couldn’t bear the weight and broke off a piece, but another piece was still supporting the massive python’s body.

Dazed by the tail strike, the giant python hung on the tree for a while before continuing to struggle.

Next to it, another tree had a chunk stripped bare by Feng Yi’s tail. Feng Yi glanced that way for a moment and then redirected his attention to the python, his focus entirely on the giant snake.

The giant python, having recovered from the daze, climbed down from the tree and slithered into the water, trying to escape.

Feng Yi grabbed its head, paying no mind to its gaping mouth and sharp teeth. With his other hand gripping the snake’s body, he threw it onto the bank before it could coil around his arm.

The python’s body, heavier than a full-grown man, was tossed onto the shore like a child’s rag doll, landing amidst the grass.

Feng Yi walked from the pond to the bank.

After a few steps, he stopped, bent down, reached into the water, and then lifted out a large alligator snapping turtle.

Did he step on an alligator?

No, he stepped on an alligator snapping turtle.

"Was it you, little guy, who tripped me just now?"

This alligator snapping turtle’s shell was almost as long as Feng Yi’s arm and had some weight to it, several dozen kilograms.

The alligator snapping turtle opened its mouth wide and kicked its legs when lifted out of the water by Feng Yi.

Feng Yi and Steve, while looking for pythons in the swamp, had also encountered an alligator turtle, but that one had been much smaller. Steve had told him that it could easily bite off a person’s finger, and the one Feng Yi was holding now, judging by its size and massive jaws, might be able to bite off a person’s arm.

Feng Yi was no ordinary person, but he didn’t fancy being bitten by it either.

Following Steve’s example, he dragged the turtle by the shell with one hand and grabbed its tail with the other, then pushed it into the water at his side.

If you simply left it beside you, it might circle back and bite you, so it was better to push it far away.

Feng Yi continued his walk towards the shore. The tail had definitely ruined his pants earlier, but fortunately, he had brought a spare pair, which he always carried in his backpack.

Beep beep beep—

The phone in his backpack suddenly rang.

A sense of alarm rose within Feng Yi.

He quickly took out the phone to check the caller, then slipped it into his pocket and hastened after the fleeing python. He caught the python by the head and dragged it back, pressing down on its head with one hand.

The python struggled fiercely. Feng Yi thought for a moment and then decided to sit on the python, pinning it down. He used his foot to block the python’s body that was trying to coil around him, and temporarily stabilized the situation.

Only then did he free a hand to answer the call.

"Hello?"

On the other end, Steve was almost yelling, "Where the hell are you!"

Steve had suddenly woke up and, seeing that Feng Yi hadn’t returned to the tent, thought the kid was still outside in the car making phone calls. Thirsty, he decided to step out for a drink of water, only to find no one in the car, and calling out brought no response from the surroundings!

Steve’s first thought was: Feng Yi, just like he had done years ago, had sneaked out to look for pythons in the middle of the night!

Feng Yi knew he was in the wrong, "I went to the car to make a call and eat something, then, just when I was about to go back to sleep, I found something new and walked a bit too far."

"Get back here now!"

"I can’t return just yet—why don’t you come over? I just caught a big one."

"...How big?"

"Hold on."

Feng Yi switched to a video call and activated the phone’s flashlight, shining it towards the subject.

The pinned-down python’s head appeared on the screen.

Steve: !!!

Steve clutched his chest, yelling even louder than before, his voice nearly breaking:

"Don’t get distracted!!!"

Just by seeing the head, one could tell how big this python was!

"Share your location with me!"

Feng Yi shared his location.

Steve, looking at the display on his phone, thought, "..."

This is what you call ’a bit too far’?!!!

Feng Yi: "Be careful on your way here, I have it under control on my end."

"Shut up! I’ve already contacted Director He! Just remember, personal safety comes first! Don’t worry about whether it lives or dies!"

Steve didn’t dare to talk much, wanting to keep the phone call going so he could be updated on Feng Yi’s situation at any time. However, Feng Yi mentioned his phone battery was low, and Steve didn’t insist.

After ending the call, Feng Yi released the python and fished a pair of pants from his backpack to change into; after putting on his boots, he felt it wasn’t enough. He splashed around in the muddy waters of the pond and rolled around in the grass a few times, then recaptured the fleeing python once again.

By the time Steve arrived, panting and drenched in sweat, Feng Yi had already positioned himself and set up the scene, appearing to be on the verge of exhaustion.

Steve, catching his breath and not bothering to wipe off his sweat, hurried over to help pin down the python. Using hands and feet together, they controlled the giant snake.

Director He, having received the message, was on his way over; both he and Feng Yi needed to keep the python contained here until help arrived.

"How did you catch such a big one!"

Seeing it on the phone didn’t have nearly the same impact as seeing it in person.

Steve was thrilled, excited, and also scared. He truly didn’t understand how Feng Yi had the guts to take it on alone!

Suddenly, he understood how Director He had felt back then.

"It just had a fight with a crocodile and didn’t have much energy left. There were a lot of big crocodiles over there."

Feng Yi said and swept the flashlight toward a part of the pond.

The water’s surface was calm, devoid of any glowing eyes.

Feng Yi, without changing his expression, said, "There were several just now, but they probably got scared off by the noise here or they’ve gone underwater."

Steve shone his light around, stopping it on a tree trunk by the water, one spot stripped bare.

Feng Yi, with an unchanged demeanor, calmly pointed to the python pressed against the ground: "It did that."
