Chapter 207: Chapter 168 You’ve been exposed_2
He had his own ways of catching and handling snakes, methods that others couldn’t use. Of course, with strength, one would follow their own methods, or rather, instincts. On matters like this, instinct was remarkably reliable.
Since nobody was watching anyway, he could do whatever he wanted. What a great opportunity to save time and be efficient.
If he had to catch snakes the way most people do, it would have just constrained him, making him move clumsily.
He secured the bag containing the python.
The temperature was right, the grass comfortable, and the surrounding branches provided just the right amount of cover. If possible, Feng Yi really wanted to let his little tail out to relax and stretch his muscles.
Since leaving home, he felt like a six-foot man sitting on a child’s stool, a feeling of constraint.
Now there was a chance to stretch.
But no, better to continue enduring for safety’s sake.
Feng Yi rolled around on the grass a few times, gnawed on a piece of compressed biscuit, and gulped down most of a bottle of water.
If he couldn’t let his little tail out, maybe he could take a nap?
Feng Yi closed his eyes, squinted for nearly 5 minutes, then jumped to his feet.
The experimental equipment still wasn’t sorted. What was he thinking, sleeping?
Continue to earn money and points!
Feng Yi slung his pack over his shoulder, put on his shoes and socks, grabbed the bag with the python, and prepared to return to the boat to drop off the python before taking the bag and going elsewhere to continue his work.
He wouldn’t be going any further in this direction, as ahead lay the territory of the bobcats.
He smelled the scent of bobcats. A little further on should be their territorial range, marked by their scents, and he also found scratch marks on a nearby tree trunk.
Feng Yi chose not to disturb the adorable creature.
Besides, there was no significant scent of giant pythons in that direction. Either the pythons weren’t there, or it would require walking much further. But he couldn’t stray too far from the boat, so for now, he abandoned that search.
Walking back briskly for a while, Feng Yi received a voice call from Steve.
Steve’s voice rose, "All my searching for nearly two hours was worth it—I found a cave! There’s a target inside!"
Recalling that Feng Yi mentioned he had made a discovery too, Steve inquired, "Any progress on your end?"
"I’ve already caught one," Feng Yi replied.
"Caught what?"
"A python, I’ve got one. It’s already in the bag."
Steve: "...How big?"
"About four meters, I guess. Maybe a tad less."
Steve breathed a sigh of relief; a four-meter python wasn’t too much trouble for Feng Yi, then asked, "Are you hurt?"
"No."
"When did you catch it?"
Unflinchingly, Feng Yi said, "Just now."
Steve wasn’t sure whether to believe him or not. After a moment of silence, without dwelling on the topic, he said, "There’s a big one in the cave here. I just used a camera to peek inside; I’ll watch here. You go put yours on the boat first."
"Okay, I’ll go find Warren first, then head straight to you," Feng Yi replied.
Carrying the bag with the python with one hand, Feng Yi hurried towards Warren. When he approached the boat, he slowed down, shifted the bag to carry it on his back, and, with an act of wiping non-existent sweat and adjusting his breathing rate, pretended to bear a heavy load.
From afar, Warren came down to meet him, saying, "It’s a big one, quite heavy!"
"Not particularly big, around four meters. Steve found an even bigger one. He brought a camera specifically for searching caves and has confirmed the presence of a big one there."
"Wow, you guys are really lucky today!" Warren beamed with happiness.
Capturing a python meant more life for the other swamp creatures, and one less fierce competitor for the alligators.
Of course, Warren was thrilled!
Feng Yi didn’t linger further, took another large-sized bag, and rushed towards Steve.
In fact, even without the positioning function, Feng Yi could track down Steve by following the scent, without needing to see Steve’s exact location.
However, real-time positioning allowed Feng Yi to find him as quickly as possible, without taking many detours since Steve’s search was far from a straight line.
After Feng Yi arrived, it took some effort to coordinate with Steve and capture the giant python hiding inside.
This one was clearly larger than the one Feng Yi had caught earlier.
"Looks over five meters! Very strong!" Steve was thrilled.
Feng Yi gripped the snake’s head and Steve the tail, and together they lifted the giant python towards Warren.
They didn’t immediately bag it because it would be difficult to carry a python of that size once bagged.
A python over 5 meters long was the biggest individual caught in the two days since the competition started, and although it wasn’t a hybrid, it was enough to draw attention from all quarters.
Steve even had Warren take photos and a video, and after he showed off on his social circle, the picture of the two of them carrying the giant python quickly spread across various chat groups.
By the time they returned to their quarters, it had already gotten dark, and quite a number of media who received the news were waiting there, clicking their cameras as they approached, with many reporters trying to squeeze in for an interview.
Steve, with experience in dealing with such situations, calmly answered a few questions and then invited everyone to follow him to the delivery site.
The staff at the delivery site also got the news and had some veteran employees waiting there. The large python was indeed exhilarating and gave those who had come back empty-handed for two days a new hope.
The experienced staff at the delivery site measured the python after receiving it.
"5.35 meters! The largest one in the two days the competition has been going!"
Although it might not be the biggest one in the competition since ones as long as 5.7 meters or even over 6 meters, hybrid varieties, had been caught there before. But it wasn’t certain such sizes would be caught this time around in the competition.
For now, the record of this edition was held by the duo, Steve and Feng Yi.
After Steve dealt with the media and arranged with Feng Yi to order a meal at the hotel rooftop restaurant for celebration, they laughed and chatted on their way back to the hotel. The moment Steve stepped through the hotel’s main entrance, he suddenly remembered something.
Steve paused, looked seriously at Feng Yi, and said, "Why don’t you go back first? I still have something I want to do..."
"Where do you want to go?" A low and somewhat authoritative voice stopped him.
Director He was sitting on the sofa in the hotel lobby with a "long-waiting" demeanor. Although he still wore a smile on his face, there was a strict chill flashing in his eyes as he watched them.
Feng Yi glanced at Director He and then at Steve, and said with an obedient look on his face, "You guys have something to discuss, should I go up first?"
Director He stood up, "Let’s go up together, you two come to my room."
Feng Yi looked at Steve, puzzled. He felt that it wasn’t going to be anything good.
Steve ran his hand over his face, spread his hands, and silently sighed.
In Director He’s room, a tablet on the desk was playing the footage of Feng Yi capturing the crocodile with his slide-tackle technique earlier that day.
Feng Yi: "..."
With a light smile on his face, yet with unrelenting sternness in his eyes, Director He looked at Feng Yi, "Who taught you that method?"
Feng Yi, lacking confidence, said: "I invented it myself. I was wrong, I acted impulsively."
Director He hummed ambiguously, then turned to look at Steve.
Steve responded solemnly, "He said he could handle it, I always have to give a rookie some opportunities."
Director He, expressionless, retorted, "He said he could catch it, and you let him go by himself! What did I tell you before the competition?!"
One dared to say it, the other dared to believe it!
Steve tried to offload the blame: "No, I went over too, but he was too quick. Before I could suggest a safer strategy, he slid in! Director He, believe me, I was also stunned at the moment!"
No matter what they said or how they admitted their mistakes, both of them were kept by Director He to receive safety education.
An hour later, they came out drooping, no longer thinking about celebrating at the rooftop restaurant—they’d better go back to their rooms to write a letter of guarantee first.
Feng Yi opted for room service and asked someone to bring the food to his room while he pondered over how to write the promise letter. Then a call request from Feng Chi came through.
His phone had been set to busy mode, with message notifications silenced, but calls still displayed.
Looking at the time, Feng Yi noted it was just past eight. It’s a bit past eight in the morning back home.
Setting the pen aside, Feng Yi answered, "You’re up early, kiddo! Or haven’t you slept yet?"
For Feng Chi, who was not exactly diligent, eight or nine in the morning was still sleeping time.
"...I haven’t slept. But that’s not important!"
Feng Chi’s voice had a subtle tone, "Bro, you’ve been outed!"
"Outed what?" Feng Yi was puzzled.
"Brother Se’s identity, and, well... past photos."
"What past photos? Catching snakes?"
"Check out the picture I sent you."
Feng Yi switched screens to check the message he had received in the chat interface.
It was a stitched image sent by Feng Chi.

Why would these people dig up photos from my part-time job during college?!
