Chapter 181: Chapter 150 Snake Nest_2

At night, I dreamed that snakes slithered into my home, and not just one, but a whole bunch! A crowd of them!

There were cobras and big pythons, and I woke myself up from the fright in the middle of the night.

Recalling the dream, Mo Xiaoguang felt as if he were about to lose his mind.

He was so scared he couldn’t sleep even with the light on, struggling until the break of dawn without a wink of sleep, and eventually took his mom’s cat into his room to sleep with him.

The next day, as Mo Xiaoguang walked into the living room yawning, he happened to catch his grandma watching a documentary about snakes on TV.

For some reason, although he was terrified, Mo Xiaoguang watched it as if he were tormenting himself.

That evening, it was another night of nightmares.

When he found out that Bai Lu was going to Feng Yi’s to see the koi, he also wanted to get a couple of koi to place by his bed. Would the koi reared by a snake-catching expert curb his nightmares? Could they bring him even a little bit of a sense of security?

While chatting with Bai Lu, Mo Xiaoguang talked about his nightmares, hoping to get some advice from Bai Lu.

Bai Lu, young as he was, was superstitious and upon hearing that Mo Xiaoguang’s nightmares were about snakes, he suggested that Mo Xiaoguang consult a dream interpreter.

Mo Xiaoguang didn’t really have high hopes for so-called dream interpreters, a bunch of frauds.

But thinking about the dreams he’d had at night, although many details in the dreamscape had become quite blurry, the memory of breaking out in cold sweat, the fear so intense he didn’t know how to react, still made his scalp tingle.

That’s why the two of them set out early in the morning, but didn’t arrive at Feng Yi’s until around noon. They’d been off to see a dream interpreter.

Feng Yi listened blankly as they recounted their morning’s errands.

"Dream interpretation? What did it reveal?" Feng Yi asked.

Mo Xiaoguang perked up, his eyes seemingly shining, "The master said, it’s a dream of fortune!"

Feng Yi: ???

Mo Xiaoguang: "As soon as he mentioned fortune, I stopped being afraid!"

Feng Yi: "..."

This wasn’t a dream interpreter; this was more like a psychological expert! The crafty kind! Spouting exactly what customers want to hear, the most effective words! Even if customers suspect it might be fake, they’re willing to pay!

In any case, Mo Xiaoguang was more than happy to pay for this service.

After lunch, Bai Lu went to see the koi he had been anxiously awaiting.

"Brother Yi, your koi... indeed look plump. I thought the photo you sent me yesterday had some kind of filter effect from your phone."

Bai Lu’s eyes were glued to the pond, admiring the plump yet lively koi, his mouth watering—not from hunger, but from eagerness. He found the koi in the pond particularly delightful!

Mo Xiaoguang also marveled, "This is the first time I’ve seen koi fatter than those dopey ones in the park."

He even poked the pond water with his finger. The fat koi in the park would cluster around people as they approached, mouths opening and closing, begging for food.

But in the pond before him, these koi, small in size but robust in width, were quick-witted. As soon as there was a ripple in the water, they’d flick their tails and swim away. Then they’d come back after a while, but they would cleverly dodge whenever a finger touched the water.

Perhaps, this was the "spirit" Bai Lu spoke of.

No wonder Bai Lu is always thinking about the koi from Feng Yi’s place.

"Brother Yi, how do you raise these koi? They’re almost as big as pufferfish," Mo Xiaoguang said as he took photos with his phone to post on social media.

Comparing them to pufferfish was an exaggeration. They weren’t as comically round as inflated pufferfish, but at a glance, it was obvious they were several times plumper than the average koi. Those unaware might even think they were some strange breed.

Feng Yi himself didn’t know how his koi grew so large. "I usually don’t care for them, Chef Bing is the one who takes care of them."

Bai Lu got up to consult with Chef Bing for some fish-raising tips and to get some fish food. He would make a direct purchase and come back to pick it up periodically.

Mo Xiaoguang initially wanted to listen in too, but as the topic shifted from "how to make healthy fish food" to "whether raisins should be added to fried rice," he returned to the side of the koi pond.

Mo Xiaoguang wasn’t interested in cooking; he only knew how to eat, not cook. Whatever he tried to cook ended up being ruined.

After getting the tools from Feng Yi to catch the fish, Mo Xiaoguang, who brought his own fish tank, simply picked out the two he thought were the plumpest and swooped them into the tank. He didn’t research the patterns or breeds, just compared and chose what seemed best to him.

"I hope these two koi can catch some of your ’snake nemesis’ aura, Expert Feng!" Mo Xiaoguang said.

Feng Yi laughed upon hearing this; they were just two small fish, where would they get any ’snake nemesis’ aura from.

Also, what kind of snake nemesis was he... Ah, the butler had said that snakes were actually on his menu, and he could eat them if not for animal protection laws.

That should count as a nemesis, right?

Putting some thoughts aside, Feng Yi asked him, "Aren’t you scared of snakes after the dream interpretation?"

Mo Xiaoguang gave a wry smile as he fished, "How could I be? I know that dream interpreter was just fooling me, but I didn’t have much choice. I’m scared, and I just needed some ’answers’ to brainwash myself, to not be so afraid, to not keep having nightmares. Look at the dark circles under my eyes; it’s only been two nights."

Mo Xiaoguang pointed to his weary eyes and self-mockingly said, "If the nightmares continue at this rate, I’ll have to rely on them turning into humans to find Lingzhi to save me."

Feng Yi: "...You’ve watched too much TV. If the nightmares continue, go see a proper psychologist for help."

Mo Xiaoguang responded in a low voice, encouraging himself, "Actually, when I think about it carefully, I do have the courage to face snakes. I even dare to watch documentaries."

Feng Yi asked, "What if you encounter a snake in real life again..."

Mo Xiaoguang said, "If I encounter a snake again, I’ll first scream out of respect! Then I’ll pick up a weapon and confront it!"

Feng Yi was about to praise him.

Mo Xiaoguang declared bravely, "It would be a more glorious way!"

Feng Yi: "...You’re overthinking it. Most snakes in nature are afraid of humans, and even for pythons, grown adults aren’t in their range of prey. Just don’t provoke them."

Mo Xiaoguang nodded vigorously, "I won’t provoke them, I won’t! Though I dare to watch documentaries, in reality, I’m still the type of person who ’wants to escape to another district upon hearing about snakes’. Going to Tang Kui’s farm was a major breakthrough in my life! And then, sure enough, it backfired, and cobras appeared in my dreams."

Recalling the dream, Mo Xiaoguang shuddered, "I even dreamt last night that I entered a snake den, and it scared me so bad... Look at the goosebumps on my arm! Just talking about dreams makes it feel like the goosebumps are about to burst through the skin. If I really ended up in a snake den in real life, I’d probably die of fright on the spot!"

Feng Yi responded flatly, "...Oh."

That day, Mo Xiaoguang took the two plump koi he caught back home and reverently placed the fish tank beside his bed.

Whether it was because he saw the dream interpreter during the day or because he placed the koi from the ’snake nemesis’ at his bedside, the result was—

That night, Mo Xiaoguang’s sleeping posture was exceptionally peaceful.
