Closer to Revealing My True Self

Chapter 132: Chapter 111 New Residence_2

The black-faced spoonbill, a world-class endangered species and a national first-class protected animal, requires a relatively high-quality habitat.

It was because of their environmental sensitivity that people believed the environment of Cui Lake must have been among the top tiers in the country, even in the world at that time.

Indeed, research teams from all over the world had come to Cui Lake, only to find that the environment here was indeed very good— not to mention the water quality, but also the aquatic plants and animals, as well as the flora and fauna growing by the lake, were all very vibrant.

As a result, the real estate prices in Yang City skyrocketed overnight. Even with policy limitations that prevented official prices from rising too much, the amounts involved in private transactions were unknown to most, and when later revealed, were strikingly large figures.

The land in this area then began to be hotly contested.

Although in the years that followed, there were numerous instances of migratory birds returning and long-absent animals and plants re-emerging around the country and the world, alleviating people’s survival anxieties, the aura of Yang City couldn’t be replaced. Whenever people talked about the year the climate was restored, someone would mention those thirty-odd black-faced spoonbills by Cui Lake.

Many said the feng shui here was good, that even if there was another climate anomaly, this place would certainly fare much better than other locations.

Therefore, the additional value of the villas in Yang City was extremely high.

Who doesn’t like houses? Especially those with a special halo.

Feng Yi approached the house his great-aunt had left him with a sense of pilgrimage, and then...

"I can see it! This place really hasn’t been inhabited for many years!"

Feng Yi looked at the lush plants growing in the spacious courtyard, feeling a mix of emotions.

Actually, the layout of the courtyard wasn’t messy and had a unique sense of design, but one could see that the state of the plants’ growth was still too wild!

Earlier, while walking into the Yang City Villa Area, along the way, Feng Yi noticed the courtyards of other residents, which truly were a perfect combination of classical and modern styles, with many being renovated and redecorated. Perhaps the residents were meticulous, as every twig was trimmed elegantly and gracefully.

But the house Feng Yi was facing now, even without going in for a closer look, just the courtyard alone— this full of natural vitality, artistically refined yet retaining the wildness of its native state— compared to others’...

This contrast, how should I put it, is like the difference between a wild tiger and an exquisite kitten. The oncoming wildness, and even an indistinct psychological pressure one couldn’t articulate.

Maybe if he trimmed it a bit, the wildness would diminish greatly, Feng Yi thought.

The butler, guessing Feng Yi’s feelings, smiled and said, "It might not conform to mainstream designs, but you’ll definitely like it here."

"Hmm!"

Indeed, Feng Yi didn’t mind the natural wildness of the courtyard; although it wasn’t the meticulously crafted elegance of other residents’ courtyards, facing this one, he truly felt an odd sense of comfort.

It wasn’t for the attribute of "luxury" that he felt this, but a genuine closeness to this particular setting.

"Let’s take a look inside, you’ll definitely like it even more," the butler suggested.

Anticipation rose within Feng Yi.

The Feng family was a large clan, well-known in Yang City. The place where Feng Yi lived before leaving home was also very nice, and he had seen various styles of luxury houses, but this one in front of him was different.

"Two floors above ground, two below. Your room is on the second floor."

The butler, knowing that Feng Yi cared a lot about the bedroom arrangement, informed him first.

Feng Yi walked into the house. Earlier, when the butler said two floors above ground, two below, Feng Yi had felt from the outside that there were more than two floors above ground. Now he knew why.

The ceilings were over five meters high, on each of the two above-ground floors, so it might look from the outside almost as if it were a three-story house like the others.

The over five-meter-high ceilings made the space seem wasted, but to Feng Yi, it was much more pleasant, devoid of any sense of claustrophobia,

and there was no need to worry about knocking into things or being unable to turn around.

The first floor had a reception room, with a fairly standard design and layout. Feng Yi didn’t care much about these; as the butler thought, what he most wanted to know now was what his bedroom was like, whether he would sleep safely and comfortably tonight.

A minute later, Feng Yi went upstairs and stared at the large bedroom.

"Why is that bed round?"

As he opened the bedroom door, Feng Yi immediately saw the large round bed right in the center. It may have been four meters in diameter.

The bedroom’s décor was simple, with very few ornamental items, making the round bed the most eye-catching feature of the room.

No exposed bed frame was visible; it appeared to be just a half-meter-tall round mattress made of some special material.

"Such a large round cushion? What position am I supposed to sleep in?"

The butler thought for a moment, "Coiled up?"

Feng Yi: "..."

Forget it, let’s put this issue aside for now.

Feng Yi noticed that the closest distance between the edge of the mattress and the bedroom wall was no less than four meters.

It was indeed spacious, and he didn’t have to worry about hitting the wall in his sleep.

However, the butler also mentioned he was currently in a growth phase; what if he grew into something and still ended up hitting the wall? He planned to stay here for the winter, and since he was staying for quite a while, anything could happen.

Feng Yi leaned in for a closer look, noticing that the wall was covered with a protective layer. It looked decorative, but when he touched and pressed it, it was very resilient and should withstand a beating.

"Is the wall sturdy enough? What about the load-bearing capacity of the floors?" Feng Yi asked the butler.

"The walls, the floors, and the stairway elevator are definitely sturdy. The house was built to the specifications of Madam Feng," the butler explained.

Feng Yi hadn’t expected that; he thought the suite was built along with the others by the developers, just later modified. It seemed the house was custom-designed from the very beginning.

Now Feng Yi was reassured. No need to worry about his true form materializing and the staircase not holding up.

Feng Yi bent down to examine the floor. It was carpeted, and the carpet’s material was different from what he had seen before, with a foreign scent—made of materials he had never encountered.

If the floorboard under the carpet was specially tailored as well, it should be strong enough. If he accidentally thrashed onto the floor in his sleep, it probably wouldn’t be a big issue.

"Is the mattress custom-made too?" Feng Yi pointed to the large mattress placed in the center of the room.

"Of course. This mattress was delivered just at the beginning of the year, and no one has slept on it," the butler said.

"The beginning of the year?"

So that meant his great-grandmother had specifically ordered a new mattress for him before she passed away.

"When should I go to pay tribute to her?" Feng Yi said.

"Your current state doesn’t allow it, perhaps next year during Qingming Festival," the butler suggested.

"Not until next Qingming."

Feng Yi let out a long sigh, adjusted his thoughts, and continued with the house tour.

The entire suite had a very three-dimensional design. The second floor also featured a terrace courtyard, along with a lawn area that was even larger than the backyard of the Yue Xiu residential complex. If he didn’t feel like sleeping in the bedroom, he could simply go outside and sleep on the grass.

The first thought Feng Yi had upon seeing this lawn was that sleeping on it must be great!

Natural elements were incorporated throughout every corner, the planted flowers didn’t have scents that Feng Yi disliked, and even the seemingly wild and overgrown weaves had smells he could tolerate.

With ceilings over five meters high, the second floor’s master living area had some details that didn’t seem meant for normal human habitation, but rather for someone three or four meters tall.

While the second floor’s living area was very large, Feng Yi didn’t look at it closely. After focusing on the bedroom, he went downstairs to look outside the house.

Outside, there were walkways made of stones laid in patterns. Unlike the commonly seen massage pebble paths, these were not as smooth. The size and styles of the stones were not people-friendly, and some stones had gaps with unknown tiny grasses growing, which would be torture rather than a massage for someone walking barefoot.

On the other side of the rocky path was a naturally wild stone barricade, complete with hidden mist humidifiers.

Most people wouldn’t take to this design, but Feng Yi felt an instinctive pleasure upon seeing this rocky path.

"What’s the purpose of this little path? Decoration?" Feng Yi asked.

"Exfoliating," the butler replied.

Feng Yi: ???

Exfoliating?

What exfoliating?

Exfoliating what?
