Chapter 113: Chapter 100 Black Car_2

"If you feel unwell while climbing the mountain later, make sure to speak up; don’t try to tough it out. Saving face is a small matter, health is a big one."

A club member asked, "Chief, after we’ve climbed over this mountain, are we going to explore?"

The club leader’s face was stern, "Explore? What’s there to explore? First, figure out just how capable you are and whether you can handle long-distance cycling! Don’t just charge ahead like an idiot the moment you get excited.

"We’ll take it step by step, get over this mountain first, then continue with the rest. Don’t rush, maintain a stable mindset!

"Don’t be rash, respect the long haul, don’t start off cycling like it’s do or die..."

Before he could finish his sentence.

Whoosh—

A black bicycle sped past like the wind.

The club leader, veins throbbing on his forehead from anger, shouted, "Who? Who was that just now? Looking for trouble, huh?! Does anyone know him? Name and direct blacklist! He’s not coming with us next time!"

A club member beside said, "Chief, he doesn’t seem to be part of our club, he’s not with us."

Another person also said, "Even though the bike that passed by just now was too fast to see clearly, from his silhouette, both his bike and equipment are different from ours."

Upon hearing it wasn’t someone from his own club, the club leader regained his composure, "Oh, then never mind him. I’ve seen plenty like him; they start climbing and think they’re all that, so confident they could scale the Himalayas if there were a track! But in reality, they’re exhausted in just half an hour!

"Just wait and see!"

The club leader remembered the black bicycle from before and sent a message to the deputy leader waiting at the mountain top to keep an eye out.

After sending the message, he didn’t check for a reply but put away his phone and started the mountain climb with the club’s newcomers.

Sure enough, not long after, some couldn’t handle it and had to get off and push their bikes, struggling along, until the group finally reached the mountain top after three to four hours.

While the club members took a break, the leader took the water offered by the deputy leader, moistened his lips, and remembered something, "Did you notice a black bike I asked you to watch out for?"

The deputy leader took out his phone and flicked through some photos, "This one, right?"

The photo wasn’t very clear, and it didn’t capture the face, obviously taken in a hurry.

After a glance, the club leader said, "Yes, that’s him. When did he reach the mountain top..."

His voice trailed off, eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

Looking at the timestamp on the photo, the club leader spoke with a parched voice, "Is this time right? Or did you get the wrong person?"

The deputy leader shook his head, "I thought I had the wrong person when I first saw him, but then I saw someone in the chat group posting a photo, the same one we saw at the foot of the mountain. Absolutely the same person, the same bike!"

The club leader’s face was full of disbelief, "That’s way too fast! He didn’t slow down or stop to rest on the way?"

The deputy leader sighed, "I can’t figure it out either. Anyway, he came up so suddenly that I wasn’t prepared, which is why I took the photo in a rush. We all need to rest a bit when we reach the mountain top, right? He just stopped by the side for about ten seconds upon reaching the top, then immediately set off again. I was playing a game at the time, and when I looked up, he was already here. Nearly dropped my phone from shock, and by the time I switched to the camera, it was too late."

As the club leader and deputy leader, they were part of more than one related chat group. They shared the photo in the group to ask if anyone recognized him. Usually, people who are into it can identify a cyclist from their gear and bike.

Then, they discovered no one recognized the black bike.

——

Feng Yi had no idea his photo had been taken and discussed.

After choosing to head west, he kept moving in that direction without looking back. With no set route but a clear objective, and without the mood to take photos, and thanks to his unusual constitution, he barely made any long stops, apart from eating, drinking, and sleeping.

Feeling no useful information upon reaching the mountain top, he pressed onward.

He was different from cycling enthusiasts; he felt no desire to appreciate the scenery along the way nor enjoyed the process.

Though his instincts were on strike now, before the strike, they had conveyed one piece of information: The next key point was fast approaching.

The butler had said the same, stressing the importance of this next key point multiple times.

So, having the mood to marvel at the scenery would be odd!

Feng Yi kept riding for two more days, still without sensing anything like a "Compass."

Perhaps a certain trigger was needed?

Or was it the kind that couldn’t receive a signal if it was too far away?

Feng Yi was feeling frustrated when he passed by a cycling team without paying much attention to anything but the road ahead, so he didn’t greet them.

This five-person cycling squad hadn’t expected to encounter a fellow rider in this place.

It was just a pity that this rider wasn’t the sociable type.

"That black car is pretty arrogant!" someone said.

"Riding a bit fast, I guess they’ve got some urgent matter and are rushing for time."

"Maybe."

"Then let it be, everyone rides their own without disturbing the others."

Ten minutes later.

There was a traffic jam ahead.

Feng Yi looked at the long line of stopped vehicles in front of him and let out a sigh.

The drivers of the two cars in front got out to stretch their legs and were chatting leisurely.

"What happened to your car’s front? The paint is scratched."

"On my way here, there was a big truck in front, and I thought about overtaking it. Then came a bend, and I couldn’t get ahead. The truck’s rear end clipped mine."

"That’s dangerous!"

"Tell me about it. As soon as we stopped, my wife gave me an earful, and she’s still in the car, fuming."

The other driver glanced at the man’s bright red right ear, which looked like it might have been twisted. He didn’t say it out loud but simply smiled and looked away, continuing, "Better to drive steady and safe."

"Indeed. This road is not easy to navigate. Last year, a group of us from the company went on a self-driving tour. It was so dusty, and visibility was poor. Plus, we were in a hurry. One colleague wasn’t paying attention and ran over a big rock, which got stuck under the car, and it took a lot of effort to get it out."

"The car was too low to the ground, wasn’t it?"

"Not at all! Who would dare to drive a low chassis car around here?"

Feng Yi, listening to their conversation, figured they must travel this road often and approached to ask how long it typically takes to wait in such situations.

"Wait and see, at least an hour or two. If clearing the road is troublesome, it might take even longer."

The driver speaking took a glance at Feng Yi and his bicycle, then looked past him at the five cyclists coming from behind, his gaze pitiful.

"For you cyclists, sometimes you can squeeze through the jam by sticking to the edges, but other times it’s not possible, like now. There’s a problem with the road ahead and it’s going to take time to clear. If us four-wheelers can’t get through, neither can you two-wheelers. Just wait! If you have a sleeping pad, you might as well rest beside the road."

The cycling group approaching from behind also overheard his words. One of them cursed quietly about their bad luck, then the five of them began discussing how to pass the time.

Feng Yi was feeling a bit hungry.

If he couldn’t reach the next stop within the planned time and replenish his food, he would go hungry again.

"Is there another way around besides this road?" Feng Yi asked.

Another driver said, "I’ve asked about that before, there’s only this highway around here. Otherwise, you’ll have to take a detour."

That driver gestured to Feng Yi, "Just go around this side, detour from the edge. But there’s no path over there, the grass isn’t even, and there are streams and a steep rocky road, plus you’ll have to climb a hill. It’s not easy to navigate, and you’ve got a bike."

Feng Yi thanked them.

After pondering for a moment, he got off his bike, picked it up, and started to make a detour.

The two drivers: !!!

The cycling group of five: "... Holy shit!"

Watching Feng Yi carrying his bike and walking away,

One of the cyclists took out a phone and snapped a picture, "That black car owner is tough!"

The buffest one in the group got off to stretch his legs, "I’ll give it a try too!"

He carried his bike off the road but soon returned, struggling on the rough, uneven grass, his feet tripped up by hidden rocks in the grass.

"Forget it, let’s just keep waiting."

They had been cycling for quite a while, and the physical exertion was too much. Even if they could carry their bikes around the traffic, they would still need to recover their strength.

In this way, that black car owner from earlier seemed even more remarkable!

They posted the photo they took into several cycling groups they were members of, "Does anyone recognize this black car?"

No one recognized it.

Feng Yi had no idea people were looking for him. With his helmet, goggles, and anti-dust face mask, even if someone had been standing nearby, they wouldn’t have captured his face.

Steadily carrying his bike, he bypassed the obstacle, set the bike down on the road, and continued forward.
