Chapter 112: Chapter 100 Black Car_1

Feng Yi’s bicycle purchase was for long-distance cycling, and possibly off-roading when necessary, so his selection had to consider several aspects.

Feng Yi also specifically emphasized to the bike shop owner the bike’s load capacity.

Though the shop owner felt that load capacity wasn’t a key focus for long-distance travel bikes, since Feng Yi demanded it, he agreed to help choose an appropriate model.

In the end, the shop owner recommended a mountain bike that, although not top-tier, was of a high standard in terms of strength and tenacity. Of course, the price was relatively high.

Having no experience with long-distance cycling, Feng Yi wasn’t sure if the bike suited him, but he bought it to try out.

He didn’t drive to the bike shop this time; he intended to test the bike by riding it back to the Yue Xiu residential area and stopping by the swimming pool on the way.

For the past two days, the backyard was being renovated to add a door, which was promised to be completed within two days, so Feng Yi planned to stay at the Yue Xiu district during this time.

He rode from the city center to the swimming pool, tidied up the place, and called the pool owner.

Having decided on an unplanned trip, he certainly had to take care of everything here first. He had rented the swimming pool for exclusive use for a month, and the period had not yet expired, but he couldn’t say how long he would travel, so he needed to settle the accounts first.

He could let other friends swim here before the lease expired, but if anything happened, they’d still need to find him to resolve it. This trip was for the purpose of self-improvement, so he wanted to cast aside anything that might affect the efficiency of his evolution.

So, it was better to settle the affairs with the swimming pool first.

He had created a dent in the inner wall of the pool, and there were various small scraps and damages around, all of which had to be discussed with the pool owner.

When the contract was signed, it stated that even if he terminated the lease early, there would be no refund. That’s why Feng Yi mentioned compensation.

However, after arriving on site and seeing the damage, the pool owner didn’t ask what Feng Yi had done to cause such scrapes and dents. He didn’t ask for compensation; his stance was that since the lease period wasn’t up and utilities hadn’t been exceeded, the payment wouldn’t be refunded and instead would offset the minor damages.

Truthfully, repairing it back to its original condition would be troublesome. But to the pool owner, the slight indentations on the inner wall of the pool didn’t impact its use and could be temporarily ignored. Their establishment wasn’t luxurious; the prices were affordable, and the usual clientele didn’t fuss about such things.

As for the scrapes, a simple repair so they wouldn’t affect use was enough. Overall he didn’t lose out. He wasn’t squabbling with Feng Yi over this, hoping that next time Feng Yi wanted to rent long-term or recommend the place to friends, he would think of him.

After resolving the matters with the swimming pool, Feng Yi rode back from the swimming pool to the Yue Xiu district.

Cycling such a long distance from the city center to the swimming pool and then to the remote suburban district was somewhat uncomfortable, but it was manageable.

Feng Yi decided to depart as soon as the backyard renovation was complete.

By the time he arrived at the district, a square hole had been cut into the yard wall, and the door was about to be fitted.

The renovation costs weren’t Feng Yi’s responsibility, and, indeed, as the community had promised, the renovation was very efficient and quiet.

Back home, Feng Yi spread out the map.

The purpose of the trip was to activate "Compass," and although he didn’t have a clear destination yet, Feng Yi aimed to travel as far from the city as possible.

Still, choosing which direction to take needed to be decided.

His instincts were now on strike; he had no idea where they’d flown off to and calling out to them yielded no response.

Feng Yi cut four strips of paper and wrote the four directions - east, south, west, and north - on each one.

The butler had said his talent and luck were both good, so since he couldn’t rely on his instincts now, he’d count on luck!

After writing on the strips, he crumpled them into four paper balls, shook them in his hand, and randomly picked one.

Upon unfolding it, he saw.

West.

"Then west it is!"

Living density was low in the west, population sparse, and many conservation areas had been designated after periods of abnormal climate.

Going there would be more comfortable. Places with original ecology were more abundant; he reckoned a call of the wild was in order.

The only question was whether this journey would succeed in calling out the "Compass."

The next day, Feng Yi got up to find the backyard door already installed.

He set up remote control for the backyard door and secured all other doors and windows in the house.

He messaged Wu Ji and Qian Feiyang to say he had work that required him to leave Rong City for a while. Since he’d left the city after staying just one night, it was better to give a reason rather than worry them.

Geared up and with his travel pack on his back, Feng Yi began his unplanned journey.

Ride a stretch, pause, sense.

When there was no sensation, meaning "Compass" hadn’t activated, he continued onward.

----

At the foothills, a group was gathered, pushing their bicycles.

They were members of a cycling club from a nearby university.

Shortly after the start of the semester, the club president chose a weekend to take the new club members on an outdoor cycling trip.

New members who were participating in such an activity for the first time found everything exciting and interesting, constantly stopping to take photos and videos with their phones.

There was a mountain up ahead, and the next challenge was to cycle to its summit.

A member of the club looked up at the mountain peak and said, "Isn’t this mountain a bit too tall?"

The club president, checking his gear and urging others to do the same, heard the comment and casually replied, "This mountain is alright, it’s a suitable first challenge for your participation in such cycling events.
