After Zhao Ruxue went in, Ye Qiu sat in the car, took out his phone, and called Zhao Rubing.

Soon, the call connected, and Zhao Rubing answered on the other end: "You bastard, why are you calling me?"

It seemed like Ye Qiu hadn’t contacted her for a long time. Had he forgotten about her?

"I’m with your sister right now. Join us for dinner later."

"Where are you guys?"

Zhao Rubing figured Ye Qiu must be with her sister.

"Wait until Ruxue finishes her business. You should dress up a bit first. I’ll call you later."

Zhao Rubing wanted to ask more, but unexpectedly, Ye Qiu hung up the call.

Ye Qiu waited in the car for about half an hour before seeing Zhao Ruxue come out. She had already changed back into her usual clothes.

As soon as she got into Ye Qiu’s car, he reversed and drove off, asking, "Ruxue, what do you feel like eating?"

"Then let’s go for hot pot!"

On the way to the Yipinxian Hot Pot restaurant, Ye Qiu asked Zhao Ruxue to call Zhao Rubing.

Once the two were inside a private room, a female server asked, "How many guests?"

"Three. We’re expecting one more," Ye Qiu replied.

After the server went to fetch three sets of dishes, another server brought over a menu.

Ye Qiu glanced at the menu, ordered a few dishes, and then Zhao Ruxue ordered a few more, saying, "If it’s not enough, we can always order more later."

"We’ll just have the clear soup base," Zhao Ruxue added.

After the server left, another server came back with the dishes and asked, "Sir, would you like something to drink?"

"Three bottles of beer and two bottles of cola, please," Ye Qiu responded.

Once the server left and closed the door, Ye Qiu asked, "So, how did it go? You were in there for a while."

"The head of the investigation team said the current findings are useless and told me to spend more time looking for other leads."

"Who’s the head of your investigation team?"

"Deputy Director Zhu, the second-ranking deputy in the bureau."

Ye Qiu knew that in a typical city police bureau, there would be one main director and several deputy directors. However, he wasn’t interested in bureaucratic matters.

Judging by what they said, it seemed like they just wanted Zhao Ruxue to solve the case as soon as possible.

"Does that mean you’ll be working overtime tonight?"

"I plan to go to my sister’s bar to review the surveillance footage."

While the two of them were chatting, Zhao Rubing showed up, driving her BMW. Following a female server to their room, she pushed open the door and asked, "Sis, isn’t the food ready yet?"

"The clear soup is still heating up," Zhao Ruxue replied.

But as soon as Zhao Rubing sat down, she glanced over at Ye Qiu.

She noticed that Ye Qiu was still dressed pretty much the same as always, looking no different from before. Yet, she felt that there was something a little different about him.

"You bastard, when did you get back from France? What did you bring me?"

Seeing that Ye Qiu hadn’t sought her out, she suspected he might have forgotten to buy her a gift.

"I did buy something, actually. After dinner, I’ll go get it for you."

Back at the villa, he took a shower upstairs, dried his hair, and grabbed the dresses he had bought for Zhao Ruxue and Zhao Rubing. He also picked up the box containing the diamond necklace he had gotten for Zhao Ruxue.

Carrying the dresses meant for the Zhao sisters, he headed inside and went to Zhao Rubing’s VIP room. When he knocked, Zhao Rubing quickly answered the door.

Dragging him inside, Zhao Rubing asked, "Is this my gift?"

"It’s for you and your sister—two dresses each, both in the same colors."

Since the Zhao sisters were identical twins with exactly the same figures, buying clothes for them meant picking the same ones.

The only potential difference was their preferences in colors.

Now, Zhao Rubing brought the box containing four dresses inside, took them all out, and found that the designs were gorgeous.

Zhao Ruxue picked two dresses of different colors, since the other two were the same colors as the ones she had chosen.

As she hurried off to a smaller room to try one on, Ye Qiu stayed in place, poured himself a glass of red wine, and noticed as Zhao Ruxue came out of the restroom with a slightly uncomfortable expression.

"Is this it?" Zhao Ruxue asked.

While looking at the two dresses, she was actually quite satisfied. However, when she realized that Ye Qiu had likely bought the exact same outfits for her sister, she was reminded of their childhood. Back then, their parents always bought them the same clothes because they were twins.

"There’s also this," Ye Qiu said, pulling out the diamond necklace box.

Zhao Ruxue walked over, opened the box, and found a stunning blue diamond necklace. The diamond wasn’t very large, but it was exquisitely made.

"How much was it?" she asked.

She knew her sister’s personality well. Since childhood, their parents or relatives always gave double gifts. Whatever she had, her little sister would insist on having as well.

"I don’t want it," Zhao Rubing replied.
