Ye Qiu hadn’t contacted her since he returned from France, and Zhao Ruxue was still a bit annoyed about it.

After parking the car, both Ye Qiu and Zhao Ruxue got out. Just looking at the shop’s décor and its size, Ye Qiu could tell it was a large jewelry store.

The store’s main entrance had been smashed by someone and was yet to be repaired. As Ye Qiu and Zhao Ruxue entered, they saw the store manager and a few female sales assistants in uniforms working inside.

The glass display cases were completely empty, apart from a few scattered pieces of jewelry. All other jewelry had been taken.

"Hello, I’m from the City Police Bureau, investigating the jewelry robbery. Who is the person in charge here?"

Zhao Ruxue asked.

"I’m the store manager,"

a man in his thirties replied.

"Please come over here, I have some questions for you."

Since the morning, from the time the robbery was reported and local precinct officers came to investigate, many officers had already questioned the store manager before Zhao Ruxue arrived.

Ye Qiu didn’t follow Zhao Ruxue to the questioning but instead observed the jewelry store.

This Zhou Dabao Jewelry Group flagship store covered about eighty square meters. Situated at the corner of an intersection, it had two large entrances. The walls around the doors were made entirely of glass, allowing passersby to see inside.

Ye Qiu also noticed the jewelry store was equipped with surveillance cameras in almost every corner, but all of them had been deliberately destroyed.

This suggested that either someone within was involved, or outsiders had scouted the area numerous times. Otherwise, how could they have known about the placement of all the surveillance cameras?

"Manager Sun, what’s the estimated loss from this incident?"

"Based on our inventory count, the total loss amounts to jewelry worth over 25 million yuan, mostly gold necklaces and gold earrings."

"Anything else?"

"Additionally, both glass doors and all the glass display cases here are damaged. Repair costs could run into tens of thousands."

Manager Sun replied.

Of course, if you factor in the loss of business from being closed for the past few days, the loss could be even greater.

"Did you or your staff notice any suspicious individuals shopping for gold or silver here in the past few days?"

"I didn’t notice, nor did any of my staff."

"Are the prior surveillance recordings still available?"

"They were, but not from yesterday."

The surveillance footage had been shot out with guns, so there was no footage from last night onward.

"I need access to the previous surveillance recordings."

Zhao Ruxue replied.

While Ye Qiu continued to study the store, the female staff occasionally cast curious looks at him because of his rather plain attire.

Still, they were intrigued. This young man had arrived in a luxury car.

As saleswomen who often dealt with high-end clients buying gold and silver jewelry, they prided themselves on their ability to gauge people.

While Zhao Ruxue followed Manager Sun to retrieve the surveillance footage, Ye Qiu stopped exploring and waited, sitting by the shattered glass. He was puzzled as to why the female staff hadn’t cleaned it up yet.

When they got back to the car, Zhao Ruxue asked, "Did you find anything?"

"I’m considering who the culprits might be. First, it could be an insider job. Second, it could be external criminals. For now, I can probably rule out insiders because neither the female staff nor Manager Sun seemed like the type to commit such crimes. As for external culprits, I’m fairly certain this was carried out by a well-organized group of at least five individuals."

Zhao Ruxue said nothing, knowing Ye Qiu’s deductions were likely accurate.

"Where to next?"

"Let’s head to the second jewelry store."

Right now, Zhao Ruxue’s priority was obtaining the surveillance recordings. If they could get the footage, narrowing down suspects would be significantly easier. If there were no footage from last night onward, the investigation would rely on previous recordings to identify suspicious individuals.

As they drove away, Ye Qiu noticed it took less than ten minutes to arrive at the second robbed jewelry store.

This area was the bustling city center of Jiangnan, with many jewelry stores lining the streets. Besides Zhou Dabao, the strip boasted Zhou Dafu, Zhou Dasheng, and several others.

Unfortunately, all the robberies specifically targeted Zhou Dabao stores, leaving the others unscathed.

Ye Qiu parked in front of the Zhou Dabao store. After both got off the car, Zhao Ruxue went inside while Ye Qiu observed from the entrance. This store’s décor matched the first, and its layout was also similar. Inside, the situation mirrored the previous one.

This indicated the perpetrators were part of the same group. Whether they hit this store first or the earlier one was still unclear.

"Let me go ask around."

Whereas Zhao Ruxue turned toward the store manager, Ye Qiu stood outside observing. Again, he found surveillance cameras in every corner had been deliberately destroyed, all shot out with guns.

This reinforced Ye Qiu’s belief that the group was no ordinary gang; they were clearly experienced, daring, and highly familiar with firearms.

After all, most criminals wouldn’t plan such meticulous operations.

Ye Qiu waited outside for nearly twenty minutes. Once Zhao Ruxue had finished questioning the manager and obtained a copy of surveillance footage from prior to last night, they got back in the car and drove off.

By the time they finally visited the fifth Zhou Dabao Jewelry Group store, it was already past 5 p.m.

"How’s it looking?"

Ye Qiu asked.

"This was indeed a premeditated, planned, and organized group crime. Tonight, I need to carefully review the surveillance footage."

"What now?"

"Now, I still need to report back to the City Police Bureau."

Zhao Ruxue planned to submit the findings from the day, including the manager interviews, to the investigation team, marking the end of her workday.

"Even if work keeps you busy, you need to eat. I’ll call Ruibing later and ask her to join us for dinner."

Ye Qiu drove towards the City Police Bureau.

Once they arrived at the police station parking lot, Zhao Ruxue took her briefcase, stepped out of the car, and hurried into the police office building.
