Chapter 815: Chapter 0816: Duplex Mansion
The household appliances here, including the TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machine, kitchen sterilizer, and various other large and small appliances, are all brand new.
As for the old ones, Ye Qiu had already arranged for the previous owner to have them removed by a moving company.
Even the wardrobes, soft beds, sofa, TV cabinet, wine cabinet, and so on are all new. So, when Liu Xia and Xiao Hong just walked in, they were completely astonished.
The lower floor is 145 square meters, with two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Upstairs, there are four more rooms, including a master bedroom, a utility room, a study, and a small lounge area. Going further up, you’ll find a private rooftop garden.
The rooftop garden was left behind by the previous owner. It cost them hundreds of thousands to build, and even now, the garden is still incredibly beautiful.
"Go ahead and take a look around," Ye Qiu said, sitting comfortably on the living room sofa.
Originally, Ye Qiu had wanted to buy a similar large house for Liu Lingxiu’s parents, but they didn’t accept it, so he settled for a smaller apartment with an elevator.
Now, seeing how content Liu Daqing and his wife were in their current home, Ye Qiu decided to drop the matter.
Xiao Hong and Liu Xia put down their backpacks and started exploring the house one area at a time.
"Xiaxia, this kitchen is so big!"
"The guest room isn’t bad either."
...
The two of them carefully checked every corner. They went upstairs to the second floor, then climbed up to the rooftop garden. When they saw the private garden, especially the hot tub and the seven or eight varieties of flowers, they were rendered speechless.
Coming back downstairs, Xiao Hong sat next to Ye Qiu on the sofa and asked, "Ye Qiu, is this house really yours?"
"Of course," Ye Qiu replied.
Originally, it was intended as a gift for Liu Xia. But since Liu Xia didn’t accept it, the house remained in his name for now.
"How much did it cost?"
"A little over ten million," Ye Qiu said.
Liu Xia and Xiao Hong were at a loss for words.
But deep down, both of them knew that living here would be an absolute luxury. Ample space, a high vantage point, and a private rooftop garden—this was even better than most ordinary villas.
Living in such a luxurious home might even add a few extra years to one’s life.
"How much rent are you planning to charge?"
Xiao Hong asked.
"A symbolic one yuan," Ye Qiu replied.
"You might as well not charge at all," Xiao Hong scoffed before grabbing her things and retreating to one of the guest rooms upstairs. She knew she couldn’t take the master bedroom—that was clearly reserved for Liu Xia.
Being able to stay in a guest bedroom already felt like she was taking advantage of Liu Xia.
"Come over here and sit," Ye Qiu said, looking at Liu Xia, who, in contrast, appeared perfectly calm.
Liu Xia shifted slightly before Ye Qiu casually rested an arm around her shoulders, breathing in the scent of her hair and the soft fragrance on her body.
In the past, Liu Xia used to have a strong body odor, so much so that it could be detected from several meters away. But after Ye Qiu treated her condition, it was replaced with a faint, natural fragrance. Liu Xia had even stopped using perfume.
The regular perfumes she used before were mainly to cover up the smell, but now that her issue was resolved, she no longer needed them.
"Do you like this place?"
Liu Xia nodded.
"Originally, I wanted to give it to you, but since you didn’t want it, the house is now under my name. Once you’re ready to accept it, I’ll transfer it to you."
Liu Xia wasn’t expecting Ye Qiu to genuinely want to gift her such an extravagant home!
What was her relationship with Ye Qiu, exactly?
Liu Xia was thoroughly confused.
"When’s your birthday?"
Ye Qiu asked.
"Not yet, but it’s soon," Liu Xia replied.
In past years, her birthdays usually consisted of a phone call with her parents, a meal with Xiao Hong, and a small cake—nothing more.
But this year was different. With Ye Qiu around and such a place to celebrate in, it promised to be quite special.
"Thank you," Liu Xia said, looking at Ye Qiu.
From his treatment of her illness to everything he had done since, Liu Xia knew that without Ye Qiu, her life would be utterly unrecognizable right now.
"Is that all?"
Ye Qiu looked at her, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Liu Xia leaned forward and hugged Ye Qiu. As she lightly kissed him on the lips, Xiao Hong happened to catch sight of them as she descended the stairs, prompting Liu Xia to quickly pull away in embarrassment.
Ye Qiu merely chuckled, saying nothing.
"Are you staying the night?" Liu Xia asked.
"I’ll drop you off at work tomorrow, then head straight to Jin University," Ye Qiu replied.
He had already showered and eaten earlier, so all he needed to do was text his sister to inform her he wouldn’t be coming home tonight.
Besides, Ye Qiu had a dormitory at the university. If he didn’t return home, his parents and sister would simply assume he was staying on campus.
"Then I’ll go take a shower," Liu Xia said.
After getting off work, she had gone straight to dinner with Ye Qiu at a buffet restaurant. Now, she felt an inexplicable rush of excitement, her heart racing uncontrollably.
She stepped to the doorway, removed her high heels, and changed into flat shoes before heading up to the second floor.
Liu Xia decided not to sleep in the master bedroom, leaving it for Ye Qiu instead. Earlier, during her tour, she had noticed that the upstairs featured not one but two luxurious bathrooms.
While Liu Xia took her shower, Xiao Hong came downstairs and asked, "Have you guys eaten yet?"
"We went out for a buffet just now," Ye Qiu said.
"What? And you didn’t even invite me? I had to settle for fast food!"
Xiao Hong loved buffets, but the ones she usually went to were the budget variety, costing just a few dozen yuan per person.
She felt a pang of mixed emotions—delight that Liu Xia’s relationship with Ye Qiu seemed to be improving, yet also a strange unease that she couldn’t quite pinpoint.
"Once you’re free, I’ll take both you and Xiaxia to another buffet," Ye Qiu offered.
He turned on the 70-inch LCD TV, but when he went to grab a drink from the fridge, he found it completely empty.
Since they had just moved in, he realized he needed to make a trip to the supermarket for drinks and snacks.
"You watch TV for now. I’ll go downstairs to grab some drinks and snacks," Ye Qiu said.
"Alright," Xiao Hong replied.
Ye Qiu took the elevator down to the ground floor. The neighborhood was sprawling, with commercial spaces on the first floor. Luckily, there was a small supermarket nearby, making it easy for him to buy what he needed.
Inside, Ye Qiu bought five crates of drinks, including herbal teas, along with a large bag of snacks. He even asked a store clerk to help carry them to the elevator.
At the elevator entrance, Ye Qiu started loading everything inside when Xiao Hong came over to help. She hadn’t expected him to buy so much at once.
Thankfully, the spacious refrigerators in the living room and kitchen were more than enough to store everything.
