Chapter 813: Chapter 0814: Elder Cao Fully Recovers

When Ye Qiu saw Zhang Shiwei, the director, standing there, he turned and left.

He didn’t want to see this so-called Colonel again!

"Doctor Ye, Ye Qiu, why are you leaving?"

Seeing Ye Qiu turn to leave, Cao Ling hurried to catch up and ask.

By now, Zhang Shiwei had already realized that the young man he mocked twice was none other than Doctor Ye.

At this moment, surrounded by senior officers like brigade commanders, colonels, and majors—some of whom held power that far outweighed his own position—the reality of his actions was starting to sink in.

When those military officers gave him strange looks, Ye Qiu, turning to Cao Ling who had chased him, said, "That Colonel gets on my nerves. Unless he gets lost, I’m not staying!"

Until a moment ago, Cao Ling wasn’t sure who Ye Qiu meant when he referred to "that Colonel." Now she knew—it was Zhang Shiwei, the internal medicine specialist at the military hospital.

Earlier, she hadn’t realized that Ye Qiu, while sitting in the hallway, had been driven away twice by Zhang Shiwei.

Ye Qiu was someone with a temper, someone sought after by others, never one to beg for favors.

And now, seeing Zhang Shiwei still present, he decisively turned and left.

Understanding this, Cao Ling returned to Zhang Shiwei and said directly, "Please leave."

Zhang Shiwei had initially thought to curry favor in front of Elder Cao and Miss Cao, but things had completely turned against him now.

He could only bow his head and slink away awkwardly.

Military personnel loathe hypocrisy and bootlicking—while such tactics may thrive in bureaucratic circles, they are utterly despised within the military.

At this point, the surrounding officers had already figured out that Zhang Shiwei had attempted to drive away both Ye Qiu and Wu Shuang earlier.

Wu Shuang, as Elder Cao’s personal bodyguard, usually kept a low profile. Zhang Shiwei hadn’t realized who he was, otherwise, he wouldn’t have dared act as he did.

"Annoying flies exist everywhere; why bother concerning yourself with them?"

Cao Ling looked at Ye Qiu and asked.

"If you’re eating and just served a dish, only to find a dead fly in it, would you still feel like eating?"

"Don’t even say it—it’s disgusting."

Cao Ling replied.

Watching Zhang Shiwei leave, Ye Qiu finally followed Cao Ling back.

At this moment, Wu Shuang was introducing Ye Qiu to the rest of the military officers. Learning about Ye Qiu’s identity, these senior officers were surprised not just by his exceptional medical skills but also by his extraordinary capabilities.

...

Inside the operating room, the lead surgeon, assistant surgeon, and nurse worked anxiously for two and a half hours on Elder Cao. They successfully removed a small, rusty piece of metal, about the size of a pinky finger, from his left lung.

The metal shard, lodged in Elder Cao’s lung, had clearly been there for a long time, rusted and deteriorated. Though surgically removed, it would need to be tested to determine precisely how it ended up inside Elder Cao’s lung for such an extended period.

As the surgery concluded, Elder Cao’s incision was sutured and he was transferred from the operating room to a private high-class ward.

As Elder Cao was wheeled into this ward, senior officers following behind, they learned the surgery had successfully extracted the foreign object. Even Wu Shuang, Cao Ling, the lead surgeon, and the assistant surgeon expressed surprise at the result.

However, due to the anesthetic administered earlier, Elder Cao wouldn’t wake up for at least seven or eight hours.

For now, he was settled in this private ward, where the nurse connected him to an IV drip.

The senior officers gathered around Elder Cao, observing his condition. Confirming that there was no immediate danger, they saluted the retired warrior respectfully before leaving one by one.

Finally, only Ye Qiu, Cao Ling, Wu Shuang, the attending physician, and a nurse remained in the ward.

"Doctor Ye, what’s the next step for treatment?"

Cao Ling asked.

"You should all leave. I’ll treat Elder Cao alone and make sure he fully recovers today."

As Wu Shuang, Cao Ling, the attending physician, and the nurse left the room, Ye Qiu looked at Elder Cao, once a prominent figure now retired.

Of course, the other man was a war veteran who had been wounded in combat—his status and prestige hard-earned through sweat and blood.

With the rusty metal shard removed from Elder Cao’s left lung, future rejection reactions would no longer be an issue. Yet his lungs still retained significant mucus and residue that the surgeons couldn’t clear during the procedure. Furthermore, the surgery had caused some bleeding in the affected area.

Ye Qiu’s task now was to clear the mucus build-up and residue while ensuring the damaged inner organs completely healed.

While such challenges might seem insurmountable to other doctors, for Ye Qiu, they were extraordinarily simple.

Ye Qiu unbuttoned Elder Cao’s hospital gown and placed his hand over the surgical incision. In about fifteen minutes, the mucus and residue throughout Elder Cao’s lungs and other areas of his body were completely cleared.

Additionally, the damage to his lungs caused by the surgery was fully restored.

Ye Qiu then inspected the surgical sutures. He removed the threads entirely and placed his hand over the wound.

In less than ten minutes, the original large incision had perfectly healed with no trace of a scar left behind.

After setting the discarded sutures aside, Ye Qiu walked into the room’s bathroom, washed his hands, and then stepped out to announce, "It’s done. Once Elder Cao wakes from the anesthesia, he’ll be entirely recovered. Based on his current condition, he’ll likely live to be at least ninety."

Ninety years old?

Elder Cao was already over seventy?

Though ninety was a respectable age, Cao Ling didn’t think much of it.

Cao Ling and the attending physician rushed back inside to check on Elder Cao, and to their astonishment, they found his surgical wound completely healed with the discarded sutures set aside.

For ordinary individuals, surgical sutures generally aren’t removed until a week or two after the operation. Yet now, within less than half an hour, the wound had entirely vanished.

This thoroughly astonished Cao Ling.

Even the attending physician was rendered speechless with shock.

After stepping back outside, Cao Ling looked at Ye Qiu and said, "Doctor Ye, thank you."

"I’ll head out now. I’ve got military training this afternoon."

Meanwhile, Wu Shuang, having spent the entire day here, hadn’t even had lunch yet.

As Cao Ling personally escorted Ye Qiu and Wu Shuang out of the military hospital and arranged a jeep to drive them back, she couldn’t help but feel that Ye Qiu was far more enigmatic than she had imagined.
