Chapter 797: Chapter 0798: The Beautiful Counselor Turns Out to Be Her [Third Update]

Since Ye Qiu even paid the accommodation fee, he would occasionally stay in the dormitory, but it was unlikely that he would reside there for long. Now Luo Yang helped him take out the new mattress and blanket from the cabinet, spread them neatly, and placed the pillow on top—so, this bed was ready.

Ye Qiu discovered there was even a foldable military-style low stool inside the cabinet, presumably used for military training and regular meetings.

"Brother Qiu, tomorrow there might be a meeting!"

Luo Yang said.

"Who cares!"

Military training might seem like torture for other freshmen, but to Ye Qiu, it was nothing but child’s play. Right now, it wasn’t deep into autumn yet, and the daytime temperatures were still quite hot, so when military training began, both the boys and girls were bound to be sunburned and tanned.

Ye Qiu sat on his bed frame. Sharing a bed with Luo Yang would be a challenge given Luo Yang’s size; if he lay on it, the bed might struggle to hold up.

"Brother Qiu, are you really not buying any daily necessities?"

Luo Yang asked.

"I might occasionally sleep here, but I’ll mostly be staying at home."

When the other three roommates heard Ye Qiu say this, they immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

At two-thirty in the afternoon, Ye Qiu received a call from an unfamiliar number. He answered and said, "This is Ye Qiu."

"Ye Qiu, I am your counselor. Please gather your dormmates and come to the classroom for a meeting."

Ye Qiu felt the voice sounded somewhat familiar but couldn’t fully pin down who it was.

"Right now?"

"Yes, right now."

The other end responded.

Ye Qiu hung up the phone, looked at Luo Yang, and said, "Call the other three and let’s head to the classroom for the meeting."

The three hurriedly climbed down from their beds, though Ning Yun might not come to the dorm frequently over the next few days, having been hit by Ye Qiu.

As the group of five headed to a classroom on the fifth floor of Building 11, Ye Qiu noted that this was temporary; their regular classrooms wouldn’t remain fixed.

However, as Ye Qiu, Luo Yang, and the three other boys entered the classroom, Ye Qiu noticed roughly forty to fifty students already seated inside.

What surprised Ye Qiu the most was that the girl he had accidentally bumped into earlier was also in this very classroom.

Did he enter the wrong classroom?

He backed out to check, but there was no mistake!

"Brother Qiu, what’s the matter?"

Luo Yang asked curiously.

"No mistake!"

Ye Qiu was certain he hadn’t entered the wrong room. So, the girl he bumped into earlier was indeed his classmate. What a coincidence—on the very first day of school, he had run into a fellow classmate.

Ye Qiu and the other four entered the room and directly sat in the back row.

This classroom had a flat layout rather than a tiered one, resembling a typical high school classroom.

Ye Qiu, Luo Yang, and the three other boys sat in the last row without elaborating.

As soon as the three other boys sat down, they immediately started commenting on the girls in the class. It quickly became clear that the male-to-female ratio in the clinical medicine program was three to one—about thirty boys and a little over ten girls.

Moreover, among the girls in clinical medicine, only one seemed beautiful; the others were quite plain-looking, which disappointed the three boys immensely.

After Ye Qiu sat down, he noticed the girl he had bumped into earlier glance at him furtively.

"Brother Qiu, that beauty is checking me out!"

Luo Yang said with unwarranted confidence.

Ye Qiu chuckled softly, unperturbed.

He even considered acting like he didn’t know the girl. After all, it was the first day of school, and ironically, he had accidentally hit one of his female classmates while driving—but luckily, it wasn’t a severe impact.

At two-thirty in the afternoon, Ye Qiu noticed a woman about three or four years older than him walking in with the click of her high heels.

At first glance, this young woman seemed strikingly familiar to Ye Qiu.

As he thought about it, he realized she was the same person who had been accompanying the seafood-allergic little girl at the buffet yesterday. What were the odds?

Song Ying stepped onto the podium, initially not realizing Ye Qiu sat in the back row. She didn’t expect to have already met the top scorer of the entrance exam in her class—Ye Qiu—just the day before.

"Everyone, please settle down."

Song Ying stood at the podium and tapped it lightly as she spoke.

Unsurprisingly, many of the boys in the class were captivated by the attractive counselor. The class might have only one beautiful girl, but nobody anticipated having such a stunning counselor.

"I’m your counselor, Song Ying, and also your English teacher. Here is my phone number XXXXXXXX and my QQ number. You can reach me via phone or QQ for anything."

Song Ying wrote her name, phone number, and QQ ID on the blackboard, prompting the students—both boys and girls—to hurriedly jot them down. Though the university had class teachers, they were seldom seen, whereas counselors played a much more important role.

"I’m not just your counselor but also your friend. For the first and possibly even the second year of university, I’ll remain as your counselor. I hope we can become great friends."

Song Ying had just graduated from Jinling University with majors in English, and she had secured a Level Eight English certificate.

She stayed on at the university as a lecturer while also taking up the role of counselor.

Of course, this was her first time serving as a counselor.

Hence, she appeared entirely distinct from the usual university faculty members.

"Are all the students here?"

Earlier, she had essentially called each male dormitory herself. However, this time, one of the boys sitting next to Luo Yang stood up and said, "Counselor, Ning Yun went home due to personal reasons."

"That student has already applied for leave."

Song Ying replied.

She assumed Ning Yun had gone home suddenly, perhaps to avoid tomorrow’s military training.

"Now, let’s proceed with introductions according to your student ID numbers. This is meant to be a preliminary round of getting to know each other. After military training, when everyone becomes more familiar, we’ll hold the class committee elections."

Song Ying said.

Having finished her announcement, she began calling out names based on their pre-assigned student ID numbers, asking each student to introduce themselves.

"Number one, Bai Yifan."

Song Ying called out.

Sitting in the front row, a young man in plain clothing who looked rather shy walked up to the podium hesitantly.

His student ID number was based on the alphabetical order of surnames in pinyin, which placed him as "Number One" in the class.

"H-hello everyone. My surname is Bai, and my name is Yifan—Bai Yifan. I’m from Jiangbei in Jiangnan Province. I’m really lucky to have gotten admitted into the clinical medicine program at Jinling University and to be in the same class with all of you. I hope we can all become good friends."

After speaking, Bai Yifan quickly stepped down from the podium.

When he returned to his seat, other students began taking turns introducing themselves.

Ye Qiu wasn’t paying much attention until the girl he accidentally hit with his car stepped onto the podium and introduced herself.

"Hello everyone, my name is Leng Xue. ’Leng’ as in cold, and ’Xue’ as in snow."
