Chapter 891: Chapter 0891: Pride and Prejudice

From absorbing into his soul consciousness, Ye Qiu was well aware that Europe and America had made monumental contributions to modern medicine, saving countless patients.

On the contrary, in recent times, the gap between traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine within Huaxia has grown increasingly large.

However, as Ye Qiu listened to these top European medical experts, professors, doctors, and pharmaceutical researchers exchanging ideas on an all-encompassing level, Ye Qiu felt rather bored.

He really felt like dozing off.

Initially, he thought coming here would be enriching, but to his surprise, it was all information he already knew.

What he truly wanted to know—such as breakthroughs in treatments for terminal illnesses, leukemia, and AIDS—was at most briefly mentioned and used as advertising gimmicks to sell drugs to patients.

"What’s the matter? Not interested?"

Zhou Wenting asked curiously upon seeing Ye Qiu yawn beside her.

Moments ago, Zhou Wenting had been quite excited, thinking that this year’s or even next year’s Nobel Prize in Medicine might come from this very group.

Considering the Nobel Prize in Medicine, Huaxia had barely produced a handful of recipients over the years, making it seem that the gap with Europe and America was indeed vast.

"What they’re talking about, I understand completely. It’s dull."

Ye Qiu said.

"Really?"

Zhou Wenting was astonished.

Ye Qiu understood all of it? Weren’t these the latest developments in Western medicine research and cutting-edge treatments?

How did Ye Qiu know all of this?

"But it’s useless. These people treat patients—leukemia patients, cancer patients, and AIDS patients—and ultimately, they still die. At best, they just manage to prolong their suffering a little. But me? I cure them outright!"

Ye Qiu spoke with what seemed to be disdain.

It wasn’t that he looked down on these people—he was simply uninterested.

What’s more, he gradually realized their main goal was still to make money by selling drugs. They weren’t as noble-minded as he had initially imagined; their purpose, like his, was simply profiting off of the sick!

At that moment, Zhou Wenting finally understood why he wasn’t interested. So that was the reason?

Yet, Zhou Wenting felt these Ph.D. scholars, professors, medical experts, and pharmaceutical researchers were different. As long as they developed an effective drug, it could benefit countless people on a large scale.

But Ye Qiu—even if he could truly cure patients—could only treat one person at a time.

That said, Zhou Wenting couldn’t ignore the fact that Ye Qiu had once eradicated the cancer cells in her father’s body, pulling him back from the brink of death. That alone had amazed her profoundly.

She thought that if Ye Qiu could provide large-scale treatment for cancer patients, he might very well be next year’s Nobel Prize in Medicine winner.

But Ye Qiu had always been enigmatic, and no one knew how he performed his treatments.

That was what puzzled Zhou Wenting the most. With such exceptional medical skills, why keep it hidden?

"Let’s talk after the conference!"

Zhou Wenting whispered.

With so many reporters and other attendees around, Zhou Wenting was wary of affecting the audience.

At the roundtable, a young Caucasian man—only in his twenties, not yet thirty—sat nearby. He was tall, handsome, and wore gold-rimmed glasses.

Moments earlier, when Louise took her seat, this man had positioned himself next to her. He had already learned that Zhou Wenting and the plainly dressed young man next to her were guests invited by Louise.

Originally, this gathering was not open to Asian individuals. Even Huaxia descendants or Chinese nationals weren’t welcomed, as they were keen on keeping the high-level exchanges exclusive.

In his eyes, Asians only understood archaic witchcraft-like Chinese medicine, which had fallen behind modern medicine by two or three centuries and couldn’t compare at all.

"Miss Louise, are those two your guests?"

Henry asked.

"Yes, I invited them to observe. Why?"

"Those two are whispering to themselves quite impolitely. If they weren’t your friends, I would’ve already had them removed."

Henry said.

Like many others, Henry had once pursued Louise, but she had no interest in men like him.

Now that Louise had brought these two along, Henry immediately wanted to create trouble for her and embarrass her.

"This has the approval of Dr. Franks, Vice President of the French Medical Association, as well as the conference organizers. Do you have any objections?"

Louise replied, clearly displeased.

"Well, if that’s the case, it means that young man must know something about medicine. Seeing them whispering, why don’t we invite him up to share his insights?"

Henry said.

It was evident he thought there was something fishy between Louise and that young man, which made him even more uneasy.

Henry raised his hand to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have something to propose."

"Dr. Henry, what is it you’d like to say?"

The others asked.

"The two attendees observing near Miss Louise appear to have some insights into Western medicine. Why not let them share their views?"

Ye Qiu hadn’t expected that just chatting quietly with Zhou Wenting would prompt this pretty boy to target him.

He had no intention of engaging with these so-called high-and-mighty doctors!

At that moment, Dr. Franks spoke up. "Dr. Henry, actually, those two attendees aren’t ordinary. This Mr. Ye, over a month ago, cured Count Charley’s disease, and the young lady beside him, Miss Zhou, is a classmate of Miss Louise from Marseille University. They weren’t just casually invited in."

What?

The plainly dressed, inconspicuous young man had cured Count Charley’s illness over a month ago?

Count Charley’s illness was widely known among their circles, as was his extravagant offer of a castle and a manor as a reward for treatment.

Many top Western doctors had examined Count Charley but could produce no results whatsoever.

When Count Charley was nearing death, unexpectedly, this young man from Huaxia had saved him.

At the banquet Count Charley hosted afterward, numerous French elite had attended and learned of this young man’s extraordinary skill. Yet, the attendees of this conference had no knowledge of Ye Qiu’s identity.

Impossible!

Henry couldn’t believe it.

No top physicians across all of Europe could cure Count Charley’s illness, yet this young man had done it?

"This must be fake!"

Henry said.

"Are you suggesting that both I and Dr. Franks are lying?"

Louise replied coldly.

This arrogant Henry had always been disliked by her—she even found him inexplicably repugnant. Perhaps it stemmed from his self-importance as a young, leading figure in Western medicine, coupled with a condescending attitude tainted by cultural biases.
