Chapter 889: Chapter 889: Medical Symposium

In European and American countries, it is a rule that butlers and servants cannot dine at the same table as their employers. Housekeeper Eugene was no exception. Previously, it was utterly impossible for him to sit and eat with Count Charley—not even once.

Unexpectedly, Ye Qiu had now invited him to join for a meal. This left Housekeeper Eugene feeling somewhat embarrassed, as though it might lower Ye Qiu’s authority.

However, Ye Qiu had already considered him as one of his own people.

"Take a seat!"

Ye Qiu said, looking at Housekeeper Eugene.

By now, the chicken broth base of the hot pot was ready, filling the air with a fragrant aroma. As Housekeeper Eugene sat down, he immediately caught the scent.

"Help yourself to whatever you like!"

Ye Qiu said.

He placed a thin slice of beef into the hot pot broth, waited briefly until it was cooked, then dipped it into the sauce. He found the taste just as superb as expected.

"You all should eat too!"

When facing others, Ye Qiu usually came across as distant and aloof. This was partly due to his natural personality and also heavily related to his reincarnation experience.

Louise imitated Ye Qiu’s actions, tasting a piece herself. It was indeed delicious, and she soon began eating more freely.

After the three finished their meal, it was nearing noon at around twelve o’clock. Louise and Zhou Wenting went upstairs to rest.

Ye Qiu, after instructing Housekeeper Eugene to take care of other matters, stepped outside for a stroll. He noticed that the grape harvesting machinery was still hard at work.

Ye Qiu then made his way towards the castle, planning to wait for the workers from Count Charley’s winery to arrive and assist in selecting the grapes.

...

When Louise returned to her room, she realized that being with Ye Qiu felt truly different. At the very least, she didn’t feel bored or annoyed—on the contrary, she felt entirely at ease.

However, she couldn’t help but wonder, how long would Ye Qiu stay in France this time? When would he leave again?

Thinking back to last month, when the autumn fashion designs Ye Qiu had created for her were all lost and instead stolen as someone else’s works, Louise felt irate.

Now, going back to reclaim those designs was no longer an option, and what she really wanted was for Ye Qiu to design some new ones for her.

As Louise was dwelling on this thought, her phone started ringing.

The name and number displayed showed it was a call from an official of the French Medical Exchange Association. Back during her studies at Marseille University, Louise had already been a member of the association’s exchange program. This connection came partly due to her family background and partly because of her excellent performance in Western internal medicine.

At least Zhou Wenting had also applied to join the association but was ultimately unsuccessful. Perhaps it was due to her skin color—no one really knew for sure.

"Miss Louise, tomorrow there will be a European medical exchange conference held at Paris Medical Academy. Are you interested in attending?"

A medical exchange conference?

Louise’s initial response was to hang up immediately.

She genuinely wasn’t interested in such things at the moment. After all, Ye Qiu had just come here—how could she possibly have the mood to attend an exchange conference?

But suddenly, she thought of Ye Qiu’s mysterious medical skills. Could Ye Qiu’s almost omnipotent abilities genuinely treat any patient? If so, there was even a possibility he could win a Nobel Prize in Medicine.

"Dr. Fran, may I bring two people with me to attend?"

"Under normal circumstances, only members of the association are eligible to participate. Outsiders won’t have access," Dr. Fran replied.

"Then never mind, I won’t go," Louise said.

Since Ye Qiu couldn’t attend, her interest in the exchange conference entirely evaporated.

In the past, she might still have been somewhat enthused.

But after the incident with Count Charley, who was nearly on the brink of death—when so many renowned doctors across Europe couldn’t save him, yet Ye Qiu had easily cured him—Louise began to have some doubts about what modern medicine purported to be the most advanced.

"Miss Louise, don’t be so quick to decline. I will try to submit a request with the exchange conference on your behalf. Maybe it will be approved," Dr. Fran said.

"Alright then," Louise responded.

After hanging up, she didn’t give it much further thought.

Leaving her room, Louise went to Ye Qiu’s quarters and knocked on the door. Inside, she saw Ye Qiu sitting at his desk, apparently writing something.

"What are you working on?"

"A management plan for the winery," Ye Qiu replied.

This was just like back when he had been overseeing the Imperial Cuisine Restaurant. After all, Ye Qiu couldn’t always oversee everything himself. The winery here in France was even farther away from Jinling—at most, he could only visit a few times a year. The rest of the time, it relied entirely on Housekeeper Eugene to manage.

As for how to manage and ensure normal operations, Eugene only needed to follow Ye Qiu’s written instructions precisely.

This was why Ye Qiu required someone not just competent but also deeply loyal to execute his plans.

With anyone else, Ye Qiu might not have the same level of confidence.

Standing beside Ye Qiu, Louise glanced at the management plans he was drafting. They seemed solid, but she couldn’t help wondering whether there might be any issues during execution.

"What’s the matter?" Ye Qiu asked.

"Can you design a few more outfits for me?" Louise asked.

With September and October being the months of Paris Fashion Week, there were likely to be over 300 shows. The most fashionable and luxurious garments would be showcased by female models and celebrities for the audience’s admiration.

Yet Louise found herself still most fond of Ye Qiu’s designs.

The outfit Ye Qiu had designed for her last time had remained breathtaking, even after more than a month.

"Sure," Ye Qiu replied.

But he would need drawing tools and design paper to begin.

This required having one of the older maids fetch the materials for him. He also needed to create designs for Zhou Wenting; otherwise, she might think Ye Qiu was playing favorites.

After Louise left, Ye Qiu sought out an older maid to retrieve drawing tools and design paper. Sitting at his desk, he began crafting the designs.

By the end of the afternoon, Ye Qiu had completed six sets of autumn and winter lingerie and dress designs for both Louise and Zhou Wenting.

For now, however, there were no tailors or materials available on-site.

Only in Paris would it be possible to turn these designs into actual garments.

After finishing the sketches, Ye Qiu was informed by Housekeeper Eugene that the workers from Count Charley’s winery had arrived. It was now time to arrange for them to sort and classify the grapes before moving on to the next steps.

Ye Qiu had already instructed Eugene on all the procedures, so there was no need for him to oversee everything personally.

"Tell them that if they do a good job, they’ll receive an additional bonus!" Ye Qiu said to Eugene.

The winery workers already received a salary from Count Charley’s winery. With Ye Qiu offering an extra incentive, their motivation would undoubtedly be higher.

After Housekeeper Eugene departed, Louise, who was back in her room, received another call from the French Medical Exchange Association official. It turned out her request had been granted: she could bring two additional friends to attend the upcoming European medical exchange conference.
