Chapter 369: Chapter 369: I told you, there’s no escape
Qiao Rui hooked Pei Liyan’s neck effortlessly, a flicker of light flashed in Pei Liyan’s eyes, deep and burning.
He spoke in a hoarse voice, "You were pretending to sleep earlier, weren’t you?"
"You haven’t answered my question yet!" Qiao Rui blinked those bright eyes of hers, her face alive with a radiant glow, dazzling and vibrant.
Pei Liyan gazed at her deeply and said, "I don’t know, but you’ve cured my cleanliness obsession."
Now he realized, he didn’t care about what she didn’t give him the first time. What he wanted was her future, everything she had to offer.
As long as he could have her future and all of her, nothing from before mattered anymore.
At this moment, perhaps this was true love, the kind that accepts everything.
Only, the girl might not appreciate it.
Qiao Rui was clever—she could understand a man’s implication with a single sentence.
Arching her brows slightly, she looked at him and said, "Why are you here in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"
"Of course, to help you apply medicine." He answered earnestly, his focus intense. "Your back is still a bit swollen, I’ve already put the medicine on."
"If you’ve already done that, then why aren’t you leaving? Do you insist on waking me up?" Qiao Rui countered.
The man smirked faintly and said, "I was ready to leave, but then you hooked my neck, and now I can’t go."
Qiao Rui immediately let go of his neck without saying another word, her face showing a hint of annoyance.
Pei Liyan remained still, only lowering his head to watch Qiao Rui.
The two stared at each other like that, locked in a standoff for over a minute.
"You can leave now." Qiao Rui broke the silence first. "Go on!"
Pei Liyan’s gaze deepened, with a certain dark emotion surging in the depths of his eyes. His throat bobbed slightly, and suddenly his gaze warmed, carrying a hint of heat. His voice held a trace of huskiness, "I said I couldn’t leave, didn’t I?"
Qiao Rui froze, her eyes widening as she looked at him.
The man’s hands were still planted on either side of her, under the semi-shadowed light, silently watching her.
This was as suggestive as it could get.
What he wanted was crystal clear without words.
Qiao Rui pursed her lips and said, "Fine, do whatever you want. I’m going to sleep."
After that, she intended to close her eyes.
Suddenly, the man swooped down and kissed her lips.
"Ah!" She let out a soft cry.
His voice was muffled as he spoke, "You said ’do whatever you want,’ so I’m doing just that."
Qiao Rui: "..."
"Pei Liyan." Qiao Rui called him in a low voice.
"Hmm?" The man looked at her, his pitch-black eyes reflecting her face like a deep pond, powerful enough to pull her in.
"It’s only been half a day since we last saw each other, do you really have to act this desperate?" Qiao Rui’s face flushed as she murmured.
"Then you must not understand me. I’ve been a dry desert yearning for rainfall for quite some time now." Pei Liyan said in a low voice, "Indeed, I need some refreshing dew."
He leaned down gradually, his breath growing closer, mingling with hers, brushing warmly across her face.
Qiao Rui let out a light hum. "If you need refreshing dew, go stand in the rain. Why come to me?"
"Arguing, eh?" Pei Liyan looked at her, his eyes brimming with undeniable affection. "Such a mischievous one!"
Qiao Rui pouted. "I really didn’t plan on doing anything tonight, but your persistence is utterly exhausting."
"You’re the one who promised to open the door for me after half an hour, and then you went and fell asleep." Pei Liyan felt that Qiao Rui must’ve done it on purpose.
"And didn’t you open the door yourself?" Qiao Rui muttered, "You really don’t make me feel safe at all, barging into doors like this, no privacy whatsoever."
Hearing her complaint, Pei Liyan couldn’t help but chuckle. "As fair exchange, I’ll let you wander freely into the master bedroom from now on."
"I’m not interested in your privacy." Qiao Rui thought to herself, knowing what she already held was more than enough, and didn’t care to possess any so-called secrets.
"Then what are you interested in?" Pei Liyan asked with a smile.
"I’m only interested in sleep right now." Qiao Rui looked at him, "Let me sleep in peace, and I’ll be grateful to your entire family."
Pei Liyan laughed in exasperation. "Speak properly, don’t curse."
Qiao Rui: "..."
Pei Liyan saw her falling silent and said with a laugh, "Do you want some snacks?"
Qiao Rui blinked. "I wasn’t planning on it, but now that you’ve mentioned it, I kind of do."
"Then how about going to the master bedroom?" Pei Liyan raised his brows suggestively.
Qiao Rui said, "Are you bribing me with snacks?"
Pei Liyan climbed out of bed and scooped up Qiao Rui in his arms, carrying her to his room.
When he laid her down on the ridiculously large bed in the master bedroom, Qiao Rui stretched out, feeling the softness and comfort of the bed, instantly understanding.
This master bedroom bed really is comfy.
Rolling over a bit, Qiao Rui said, "Bring the snacks over."
Pei Liyan looked at her, a sly smile curling his lips, his handsome features taking on a touch of wickedness. "Baby, I think we should enjoy me and my big bed first, and then enjoy the snacks afterward."
He actually suggested enjoying both him and his bed.
Qiao Rui looked at him.
Under the bright lights, his face appeared exceptionally captivating.
"But I just want to enjoy snacks right now." Qiao Rui stared directly at him, "I don’t want to enjoy you."
Pei Liyan laughed. "No, you do."
Qiao Rui covered her mouth as she chuckled, then called him shameless. "What kind of twisted logic is this? You want to enslave me now?"
Pei Liyan continued to coax, "If you want snacks, come enjoy me. I promise I’m better than snacks."
So shameless.
Qiao Rui rolled her eyes at him. "No, snacks are better. I’ll have those first."
A shallow smile spread across Pei Liyan’s face as he spoke in a deep voice, "Alright, snacks first, me after."
She decided to ignore him.
He tossed her a bag of chips.
Qiao Rui caught it, tore it open, and began eating.
Pei Liyan watched her, just about to pounce, when the phone rang.
He reluctantly walked over to grab it and answered the call.
Qiao Rui chuckled while eating her chips, watching him take the call.
Whoever it was calling, Pei Liyan muttered into the phone, "He Lan, what do you need?"
"Master, I’m looking for my mentor." He Lan had tried calling Qiao Rui and couldn’t get through, so he called Pei Liyan.
Pei Liyan froze for a moment. "You’re looking for Qiao Rui?"
"Of course, Master," He Lan replied, "She’s my mentor, so naturally you’re my Master."
Pei Liyan’s eyebrows furrowed; the title was incredibly irksome.
He tossed the phone to Qiao Rui. "It’s for you."
Qiao Rui took it and turned on the speaker.
"He Lan, what’s up?"
"Mentor, I saw your fight video—it was so amazing!" He Lan was currently fanboying over her martial arts prowess.
"Where’d you see it?" Qiao Rui asked. "Send it to me, I want to see how well it was shot."
"It was great, phenomenal even—it perfectly captured the essence of a Martial Arts master," He Lan said. "By the way, you’re not hurt, are you?"
"Not hurt," Qiao Rui replied. "Why are you calling me?"
"I need to learn from you! You still haven’t taught me yet!" He Lan exclaimed, then suddenly added, "Actually, I ran into something strange tonight and wanted to tell you."
"What happened?"
He Lan said, "I saw Qiao Xiang’s dad tonight. I greeted him but he ignored me, sneaking off with someone."
