Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Swift Face-Slapping

"What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"

"You’ve already done absurd things, and now no one is allowed to talk about it?" Song Xun retorted bluntly.

"If you refuse to marry, I’ll have someone bring Muyu back," Mrs. Song said in a low, threatening tone.

Song Xun understood immediately.

He sneered, "If you think the Song Family isn’t messy enough already or not headed for ruin fast enough, by all means, go ahead."

Mrs. Song was momentarily stunned. "What do you mean by that? Spell it out for me!"

"Exactly what I said—no hidden meaning," Song Xun replied, clearly out of patience.

"Did you understand what I just said?" Mrs. Song demanded. "I want you to marry Shen Shuyi."

"No," Song Xun refused directly.

"You’re forcing my hand!" Mrs. Song hung up the phone abruptly.

Song Xun closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It seemed his mother wasn’t giving up; she intended to make a move on Muyu instead.

He took out his phone and sent a message to Song Muyu: "She won’t give up and will come after you. Be careful."

After carefully choosing his words, he sent the sixteen-character message. Like sinking a stone into the sea, there was no response.

Song Xun chuckled bitterly. She probably never wanted anything to do with him again in this lifetime.

This was his own doing—he fully grasped that feeling now.

After hanging up, Mrs. Song went straight to the company to find Song Huaisan.

"What’s wrong with you?" Song Huaisan asked, noticing her haggard appearance.

"There’s something I need to discuss!" Mrs. Song pulled him into his office, locked the door, and said, "Muyu has left. Call her and bring her back."

"Bring her back for what?" Song Huaisan frowned deeply. "What can she do?"

"Will you call her or not?" Mrs. Song’s expression darkened.

"If you don’t tell me why, I won’t call," Song Huaisan replied.

"She had a miscarriage," Mrs. Song said coldly. "The baby was Song Xun’s. Shen Shuyi knows about it too."

"What?" Song Huaisan was stunned.

Mrs. Song sneered. "Surprised? That little girl dared to act behind our backs and even made such a big mess."

Softly, Song Huaisan muttered, "So something did happen in the end. I knew something felt off between them, but I didn’t expect this."

"So call her back. If you won’t, I’ll have to take drastic measures," Mrs. Song pressured her husband.

"Don’t act recklessly!" Song Huaisan shouted, his face a mix of emotions. His anger surged before he finally calmed himself.

"Hah, don’t act recklessly? What can you do to stop me?" Mrs. Song sneered. "I’ve been planning this for so long, and she ruins it. Do you think I’ll just let her off?"

"Siyun, be rational," Song Huaisan urged in a low tone. "Given the current situation, can we afford to escalate things?"

"Shen Shuyi has to get married," Mrs. Song angrily retorted. "Do you think I want this? Shen Shuyi made it clear—if there’s no marriage, the Shen Family won’t intervene. Do you understand?"

Stunned, Song Huaisan frowned. "So, Shen Shuyi isn’t as meek as she appears. On the contrary, she’s quite shrewd and ruthless."

"Do you even need to say that?" Mrs. Song scoffed. "In the world of wealthy families, who isn’t like that?"

Glaring at her, an icy light flickered in his eyes. "Not every child of a wealthy family is like that. But your judgment is clearly flawed. Kicking people when they’re down—that’s a character flaw."

"It’s because Song Xun wasn’t sincere with her," Mrs. Song argued, her tone heavy. "If Song Xun treated her even a bit better, this wouldn’t have happened."

"Song Xun’s attitude hasn’t changed from day one. He was never into her. How could he change overnight?" Anger simmered in Song Huaisan’s voice. "It seems this arranged marriage isn’t bringing the Song Family any benefits—if anything, it’s a disaster waiting to happen."

Mrs. Song was about to argue when he cut her off. "And your Liu Family won’t escape the fallout either. If this marriage alliance causes such chaos, you’ll become the sinner of both the Song and Liu Families."

Her face went ghostly pale at his words. Shaking slightly, she looked at him. "You’re blaming me now? Weren’t you the one who approved of this before? You always said the Shen Family is Liancheng’s true elite, with a promising path of blending nobility and commerce. Wasn’t that you?"

"I did say that," admitted Song Huaisan. "But not with this urgency! I’ve gone along with you enough, Siyun. This time, don’t push it; just wait and see."

"Wait for what? If we wait any longer, our family will fall apart," Mrs. Song said firmly. "For now, get Muyu back. If all else fails, she can still be used for an arranged marriage. United together, there’s no way we can’t overcome this!"

Song Huaisan stared at her for a moment before nodding. "Fine, I’ll make the call. But you’d better not speak a word—follow my lead."

"Fine." Mrs. Song replied impatiently.

Only then did Song Huaisan dial Muyu’s number.

On the other end, Song Muyu saw the caller ID and understood—today, she was under siege.

Qi Yun reminded her, "Don’t take every call—it’s bad for your health."

"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." Muyu’s pale smile was resolute.

She finally answered, "Dad!"

"Muyu," his tone was calm. "Your mom said you were hurt. Is it serious?"

"It’s fine. Thank you for your concern, Dad," Muyu replied calmly. "I’m doing well."

"That’s good," he said. "I’d intended to visit you, but there’s trouble at work, so I couldn’t make it. Take good care of yourself."

"Thank you, Dad. I will. You take care as well."

"Are you going back to Qingcheng now?" he asked again.

"Yes, almost there."

"That’s good." His tone remained warm and composed, betraying no emotion. "Go back. Staying in Liancheng distracts us. If the Chen Family targets you, we’ll be constantly on edge. Be careful in Qingcheng."

"Got it, Dad."

"That’s that," he added. "Take care—I have to get back to work."

"Alright!" Muyu said, not elaborating further.

He hung up.

Mrs. Song grew anxious. "What kind of call was that? You didn’t even mention bringing her back!"

"There’s no point bringing her back right now," he replied sternly. "You said she had a miscarriage—what can she accomplish in that condition?"

Mrs. Song froze, speechless.

"I told you," he continued, "under normal circumstances, Muyu would’ve been the first to worry—but not this time. She was overly polite, too polite."

Mrs. Song grew restless. "She doesn’t care about us anymore."

"Don’t push them too hard," he warned. "When it matters, it’s still Song Xun and Muyu who are truly ours. Shen Shuyi is an outsider!"

"Hmph!" Mrs. Song snorted disdainfully.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Startled, Song Huaisan called out, "Who?"

"Chairman, Mr. Liu is here."

"Let him in."

Moments later, an assistant led in a man who appeared to be in his sixties. His serious face bore a slight resemblance to Mrs. Song.

"Brother, why are you here?" Mrs. Song asked, surprised to see him.

Liu Shangqing glanced at both of them, his expression grave. "Seventeen percent of the Liu Family’s shares have been acquired, and the buying continues. The word is, unless we cut ties with Liu Siyun, the Liu Family will face a full-on takeover."
