Chapter 178: Chapter 178 He Looks Both Bewitching and Dangerous
Qiao Rui turned her head abruptly, "Why should my clothes be put in your wardrobe?"
Pei Liyan replied in a deep voice, "What do you think?"
Qiao Rui asked, "Do you have a habit of wearing women’s clothes?"
As soon as these words came out, Pei Liyan’s handsome face darkened.
Si Ran, who was stepping on the stairs, nearly missed a step.
She turned back to glance at Pei Liyan.
The man was staring at Qiao Rui with fiery eyes, his angry gaze sweeping towards her as he caught her looking at him.
He said irritably, "I don’t have a cross-dressing fetish."
Qiao Rui frowned, "Then why did you put the clothes you bought for me in your wardrobe?"
Pei Liyan: "...."
"I have my own room, Secretary Si, come with me. Put everything in my room," Qiao Rui was already heading upstairs, taking Si Ran with her to her own room, not giving Pei Liyan another chance to speak.
The man watched their departing figures, his eyebrows twisting in a knot.
At the doorway, Si Ran whispered, "Ma’am, since you and the president are husband and wife, it’s most appropriate to keep your clothes together."
She was Pei Liyan’s secretary, naturally aware of the president’s habits.
And between a husband and wife, it should naturally be so.
But seeing the madam like this, she clearly hadn’t cohabited with the president yet.
The president’s intention was very clear.
But why would the madam want to separate?
She couldn’t believe that Qiao Rui didn’t understand the president’s intentions, so her words were probably intentional.
Qiao Rui knew that Si Ran was Pei Liyan’s person and naturally understood his rules; she likely wouldn’t dare disobey his commands.
The two stood at the door of Pei Liyan’s bedroom, Qiao Rui said, "I won’t make it difficult for you. You can put the clothes you brought up in Pei Liyan’s room. As for the ones I brought, I will put them wherever I want; that should be fine, right?"
Si Ran was taken aback, not expecting Qiao Rui to arrange it this way.
As Pei Liyan’s secretary, she couldn’t find fault with it.
Qiao Rui, in doing this, maintained her principles without making it difficult for Si Ran – perfect.
Si Ran tugged at her lip, unable to muster a smile. "Madam, you really stick to your principles."
"That’s not it," Qiao Rui blinked, a mysterious smile on her face: "I just feel that doing whatever he says is letting him off too easily."
"Ah?" Si Ran was dumbfounded, unsure how to respond.
"Go on with your work," Qiao Rui said and then, carrying her bags, entered her own room.
Si Ran stood in the corridor, looked towards Pei Liyan’s bedroom door, hesitating whether to enter or not.
Finally, biting her lip, she went in and hung all of Qiao Rui’s clothes in Pei Liyan’s wardrobe.
As soon as Qiao Rui entered her room, she set her bags down and then turned to go downstairs for a second trip.
Pei Liyan sat on the sofa, unhurried to go upstairs.
Seeing her come down alone, he asked with a frown, "That was quick?"
Qiao Rui replied, "It’s okay, normal speed."
Having said that, she picked up four or five bags and prepared to go upstairs.
Pei Liyan looked towards the stairs, didn’t see Si Ran, and then spoke, "Let Si Ran help you, you don’t need to strain yourself."
"Oh, it’s okay, not a strain," Qiao Rui said, "I plan to move around a bit, snack later."
Pei Liyan half-closed his eyes and asked, "You didn’t put all the clothes in your room, did you?"
"No," Qiao Rui felt she wasn’t lying; after all, the ones Si Ran took up were all placed in his wardrobe.
She chuckled, then turned and went upstairs.
On the second floor.
By the time Si Ran came out with empty bags, ready to go downstairs, she noticed Qiao Rui was already carrying ten bags upstairs.
She passed by Pei Liyan’s room door, saw Si Ran coming out, and smiled slightly, quickly walking towards her room.
Si Ran exclaimed, "Madam, you don’t need to rush."
"I’m just worrying that Secretary Si you might find it too hard!" Qiao Rui smiled, already walking past Si Ran towards her room.
Si Ran hurried downstairs.
Pei Liyan was downstairs; originally, she didn’t want to speak out, but fearing the president might get upset, she said, "President, the madam put all her own clothes in her room; I put the ones I carried in your wardrobe."
Pei Liyan was momentarily stunned, a gleam in his eyes, and then he slightly smiled, "Si Ran, you don’t need to carry the clothes anymore, bring all these snacks to my room!"
Si Ran was startled, noticing several bags of snacks.
She nodded. "Yes, President."
Soon, Si Ran carried the bags upstairs and put all the snacks in Pei Liyan’s room.
After fetching her clothes, Qiao Rui noticed that Si Ran hadn’t carried any more clothes.
Pei Liyan sat on the sofa browsing his phone, seeming very calm.
Something was off.
The atmosphere was weird.
Then Qiao Rui remembered—she hadn’t taken the snacks.
When she looked for the snacks, they weren’t downstairs.
She asked Pei Liyan, "Where are my snacks?"
Pei Liyan looked up at her, "Si Ran sorted them out."
"Where’s Si Ran?" Qiao Rui looked towards the direction of the upstairs.
"She’s gone," Pei Liyan said deeply, "Those clothes of yours, just discard them, she didn’t feel comfortable going into your room."
"Ah?" Qiao Rui was taken aback. "The snacks didn’t all get taken to your room, did they?"
Pei Liyan stood up, his tall frame walking towards her with an imposing air.
"I wouldn’t know, you can go upstairs and check."
Qiao Rui frowned, doubting his intentions. "You were just downstairs, and you brought the snacks in, how could you not know where they are?"
Pei Liyan’s eyes, dark as ink, met her questioning gaze, and he casually smiled, "They might all be in my room, so you could go check."
Qiao Rui immediately became wary, "Never mind, I won’t look; I won’t eat tonight, I’m going upstairs to sleep, good night."
She said and lifted her leg to walk away.
Pei Liyan watched her hurrying away and slightly curled his lips upward.
Back in her room, seeing the room full of bags of clothes, Qiao Rui rolled her eyes.
She was about to lock the door when she heard a knock.
Qiao Rui took a deep breath and opened the door.
Pei Liyan’s handsome face appeared in the light, stunningly beautiful, he smiled, "I just looked; the snacks are all in my room."
Qiao Rui raised an eyebrow, "I said I wasn’t eating."
A ripple shone in Pei Liyan’s dark eyes, making it hard to see his emotions, but the smile curling at his lips made him look both dangerously charming and wicked.
"If you want to eat, you can come to my room."
"I’m not eating," Qiao Rui also smiled, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes: "Mr. Pei, keep it for yourself."
Pei Liyan gazed at Qiao Rui, his deep voice carrying through, "There’s too much for me to eat alone."
"Then eat slowly; it’s all within the expiry date," Qiao Rui said.
"Are you afraid to come to my room, scared of what I might do?"
Qiao Rui’s heart shivered, "Yes, I am really scared."
His sharp eyes fixed on Qiao Rui, he spoke darkly, "Girl, you play hard to get quite skillfully."
Qiao Rui tugged at her lip, retorting sarcastically, "Not as skillful as Mr. Pei’s fishing techniques."
