Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Too Ugly, I Feel an Impulse Too
Pei Liyan paused and said, "No, that’s it!"
Qiao Rui was astonished, seemingly a bit unexpected, "Really?"
"Do you actually wish I had many women?" Pei Liyan frowned, saying displeasedly, "Are you trying to pin the label of a scumbag on me?"
"That’s not it, I’m just curious. That means, when you were with Rui Qing, you were still a virgin?"
A flash of embarrassment crossed Pei Liyan’s face as he turned his head to look out the window.
However, Qiao Rui caught a glimpse of his embarrassment in the reflection of the car window.
She couldn’t help but curl the corners of her lips upward.
A man who can feel embarrassed isn’t too bad.
Qiao Rui had originally thought this man could not feel embarrassed, but now it seemed he was somewhat better than she had thought.
"Is it that difficult to answer the question?" Qiao Rui spoke again when the man didn’t say anything.
Sitting in the car, Pei Liyan turned to look at Qiao Rui, his eyebrows knitted as he said in a deep voice, "Do you really have to make me feel so embarrassed and awkward? Do you need me to tell you the details as well?"
Qiao Rui was taken aback and said, "I don’t want to know the details."
After all, she was involved herself; she knew all about the details.
"You ask such a private question; isn’t it because you want to know the details?" Pei Liyan retorted coldly.
Qiao Rui leaned her head against the car window, looking at him, "I just want to know if you were a virgin when you were with Rui Qing. Isn’t a simple yes or no answer enough?"
"So what if I was?" Pei Liyan scoffed.
"Quite rare." Qiao Rui was still stunned, then muttered to herself, "Mr. Pei, that means you haven’t been a man for long."
Pei Liyan fell silent for a moment, thinking back to that night with Rui Qing, he was filled with ten thousand parts of rage and resentment.
Now, here he was, sitting in a car discussing his sexual history with another woman who was his wife; he thought he must be insane to talk about these things.
Pei Liyan squinted and said with a sneer, "It seems you’re quite interested in these matters. Is this some kind of morbid curiosity?"
"I’m definitely not interested in other people’s business, but this involves you, Pei Liyan. I want to know the first-hand information."
"Are you a reporter?" Pei Liyan retorted.
Qiao Rui blinked, "No, I’m your wife."
"So, now that I’ve told you everything, if there’s anything else you want to ask, do it quickly, I won’t be waiting," said Pei Liyan sternly.
Qiao Rui didn’t expect him to be so easygoing and then smiled. "That’s all."
"That’s all?" Pei Liyan seemed incredulous that it was that simple.
Qiao Rui nodded earnestly. "It’s your past; I have no right to interfere, especially since I wasn’t involved."
Pei Liyan found that Qiao Rui was quite reasonable.
He also nodded. "Indeed, we should put the past behind us."
Qiao Rui nodded in agreement, then suddenly shifted the topic, "So, everyone has a past, and we shouldn’t dwell on past matters, neither yours nor mine."
Pei Liyan was slightly startled, then narrowed his eyes at Qiao Rui, suddenly realizing that this latter statement was her real point.
"Your past?" Pei Liyan smiled faintly, "Were there other men involved?"
Qiao Rui countered, "Why wouldn’t there be?"
Her tone was both serious and playful, causing Pei Liyan to frown instantly, and the coldness in his eyes deepened.
"Have you dated?" Pei Liyan asked again.
Qiao Rui shook her head. "No."
Her encounters with Pei Liyan had been merely coincidences.
Pei Liyan felt a sense of relief; not having dated meant that even if men were involved, it had been just ordinary involvement.
He composed himself from the instant knot in his chest and looked at Qiao Rui, "You’re right, we haven’t participated in each other’s past, so from now on, the past is the past, and the future is what matters most."
Qiao Rui didn’t expect him to respond that way.
She had been nervous when his handsome face had tensed up.
Now hearing him say this, she also breathed a sigh of relief, "Then let’s go, we should head back, it’s getting late."
"Okay!" Pei Liyan started the car and drove back.
By the time they got home, Si Ran had already brought back all the clothes, and the brand company’s staff had just left.
As she walked in, Qiao Rui saw a room full of paper bags, very eco-friendly, and the logos on the packing bags were very noticeable.
It was indeed extravagant, dozens of bags lined up in a long row.
Qiao Rui was speechless.
"President, Madam, you’re back!" Seeing them, Secretary Si smiled faintly, "Do you want me to help Madam take the clothes to the room?"
Qiao Rui originally wanted to decline, but seeing so many bags and not knowing how many trips it would take, she reluctantly said, "Then I’ll have to trouble Secretary Si!"
"Si Ran, go upstairs, and while you’re at it, help clear out all of Qiao Rui’s old clothes," Pei Liyan ordered gravely.
Qiao Rui was startled and frowned, "Why? I still need to keep my old clothes."
"No!" Pei Liyan’s tone was very authoritarian, "Those cannot be kept."
Qiao Rui turned and glared at him, "Mr. Pei, this is my freedom; you can’t interfere too much."
"I won’t interfere with your wearing casual clothes, but I must have a say when it comes to brands and materials," Pei Liyan made a concession.
Qiao Rui opened her mouth, looked towards Secretary Si, and asked, "Secretary Si, has our president always been this domineering?"
Secretary Si, being named, was momentarily panicked; she didn’t want to be involved in the conversation between the president and his wife.
She subconsciously glanced at Pei Liyan, and upon meeting the president’s stern face, she immediately shook her head.
"No, Madam, our president is very gentlemanly."
"Is that so?" Qiao Rui’s tone clearly conveyed disbelief.
"Yes, the president wants you to change brands and select fabrics for your good, he is very considerate," Secretary Si once again spoke well for Pei Liyan.
Pei Liyan’s gaze swept over Secretary Si’s face, then turned to Qiao Rui, and after a moment, he approached her and said, "Stop dressing so frumpy."
"Why?" Qiao Rui said, "Don’t you know the saying ’Remember the hardships and appreciate the sweetness’?"
"Do you want to know why?" Pei Liyan suddenly leaned in close to Qiao Rui’s ear, whispering in a volume only the two of them could hear, "Because it’s too ugly, and it gives me urges!"
Qiao Rui was momentarily stunned.
Then, her face flushed red.
This man was obviously doing this on purpose, embarrassing her in front of Secretary Si.
Secretary Si had the tact to look down and busy herself with the bags during their exchange.
Having worked for so many years as Pei Liyan’s personal secretary, she had learned the rules well and knew what not to see.
Qiao Rui saw her moving things, as if not looking at them, and felt somewhat relieved. She told Secretary Si, "I’ll show you upstairs."
After saying so, she picked up a few bags and went upstairs with Secretary Si.
Suddenly, Pei Liyan called from behind, "Si Ran, put the clothes in my dressing room, beside mine."
