Chapter 104 His Other Female Secretary
Chapter 104: Chapter 104 His Other Female Secretary
Qiao Xiang turned her head and glanced at Si Ran, only to realize that Pei Liyan’s coffee was also provided by a dedicated secretary.
The Secretary Si was cold all day yesterday, and she appeared the same today.
Si Ran held the coffee cup and met Qiao Xiang’s inquisitive gaze with an expressionless face.
Then, she placed the coffee on Pei Liyan’s desk, saying, "President Pei, do you have any further instructions?"
Pei Liyan spoke in a deep voice, "Si Ran, tell Qiao Xiang her responsibilities."
"Yes!" Si Ran responded indifferently yet respectfully, nodding her head and looking at Qiao Xiang. "Secretary Qiao, we can go out now."
Qiao Xiang was startled, her face flushing, and she quickly followed Si Ran out the door, casting one last look full of longing at Pei Liyan as she left.
But the man didn’t glance at her.
Qiao Xiang felt a sense of loss.
Once Si Ran closed the door to the president’s office, she turned to Qiao Xiang with the same cold tone, "Secretary Qiao, please immediately read the work manual I gave you yesterday afternoon."
Qiao Xiang was taken aback; she indeed hadn’t read the manual.
"I’ll read it now."
"Just this once, do not let it happen again."
"Ah?" Qiao Xiang was confused.
"Secretary Qiao, if you can’t focus on your work, you can leave. Pei Family Company does not keep idle people," Si Ran said coldly.
Qiao Xiang was stunned for a moment, feeling that Si Ran was deliberately picking on her. "Secretary Si, we are both secretaries. I’m new here; I should be given time to learn, right?"
"You were given time yesterday," Si Ran pointed out bluntly. "It’s your lack of efficiency."
Qiao Xiang was taken aback and began to rummage for the work manual.
As she frantically searched and finally found it, she saw that it contained arrangements for her own scope of work, as well as the entire company’s guidelines.
Her face flushed red and then pale.
Si Ran was unapologetic, saying, "Secretary Qiao, President Pei is a person who clearly distinguishes between public and private matters."
Suddenly, Qiao Xiang felt Si Ran’s words were harsh to her ears, as if they were aimed at her.
She looked at Si Ran, with a faintly cold smile forming on her lips, "There’s no need for Secretary Si to remind me of this; I am also a person who distinguishes between public and private matters."
Si Ran’s gaze was sharp yet calm, "I hope so."
Qiao Xiang felt humiliated. "Secretary Si, go ahead with your business; I’ll read the guidelines by myself."
Si Ran turned and left, heading back to her seat.
Qiao Xiang knew that both Si Ran and Fang Mo were Pei Liyan’s trusted aides.
They had followed Pei Liyan for many years, proving themselves to be capable supporters.
Si Ran was also good-looking, reportedly very capable.
Now it seemed that Pei Liyan had many capable supporters at his disposal, Si Ran, Fang Mo, and the five dedicated secretaries of the president’s office, all of whom were elites.
Qiao Xiang lowered her head to look at the work manual in her hands, then glanced at Si Ran who had returned to her workstation. She composed her emotions before earnestly reading the manual.
Half an hour later.
Qiao Xiang saw Si Ran enter the pantry, and she followed suit.
Si Ran was drinking tea and did not seem surprised by her arrival.
Qiao Xiang was acutely aware of her inexperience in the workplace.
She forced a smile and said, "Secretary Si, I apologize for my attitude just now."
Si Ran’s gaze was emotionless, her eyes indifferent.
Qiao Xiang continued, "I didn’t read the work manual, so there was inappropriate behavior in the president’s office today. That was my mistake."
"Anything else?" Si Ran asked indifferently.
Qiao Xiang paused, seemingly realizing something, "I indeed failed to distinguish between public and private matters."
Si Ran remained silent, simply watching her with calm eyes.
Qiao Xiang hesitated, then said, "I don’t know what else there is; perhaps Secretary Si can enlighten me!"
"Secretary Qiao, just do what is expected of President Pei’s secretary," Si Ran said just that.
Qiao Xiang was slightly startled, then nodded her head. "Thank you for the advice, Secretary Si."
"You’re welcome." Having said that, Si Ran nodded slightly, polite yet distant.
Qiao Xiang watched her leave the pantry, maintaining a forced smile on her face, but the depths of her eyes held an unmistakable dejection.
She was determined to walk down the path she chose, even if she had to do it on her knees.
Qiao Xiang lifted her head and left the pantry.
Just then, Pei Liyan came out of the president’s office. His tall and erect figure slowly emerged, without a sideward glance, as if he didn’t see Qiao Xiang at all. They brushed past each other, his innate aura of authority making one naturally submit.
Qiao Xiang quickly lowered her head and returned to her workstation.
At that moment, Fang Mo approached Si Ran, saying, "Si Ran, President Pei has arranged for you to take his wife for a makeover. The Pei Family banquet is tonight, and his wife needs to accompany President Pei."
Si Ran stood up, took the business card from Fang Mo’s hand, glanced at it, and asked, "Now?"
"Yes, you have one day to ensure the madam undergoes a complete transformation."
"Okay." Si Ran gathered her things and left.
Qiao Xiang frowned deeply, a sharp look passing through her eyes.
Pei Liyan was taking Qiao Rui to the banquet; as a country bumpkin, wouldn’t he be embarrassed bringing her along?
Pei Family.
Qiao Rui was about to leave when she received a call from Fang Mo. "Madam, Si Ran will bring you a Goddess beauty salon card shortly, and will accompany you personally to coordinate."
Qiao Rui was startled, "A card issued for me?"
"Yes, an annual card."
Qiao Rui frowned, "I don’t need it."
"It’s President Pei’s arrangement," Fang Mo said.
"So you’re saying I can’t refuse?"
Fang Mo hesitated slightly, then respectfully said, "In theory, you should not."
"Okay, I understand."
"You also need to accompany President Pei to a banquet tonight."
"Me?" Qiao Rui was taken aback. "Special Assistant Fang, are you sure you’re not mistaken?"
"I’m not mistaken," Fang Mo said. "Tonight is an internal Pei Family banquet, and it’s imperative for the madam to attend."
Qiao Rui couldn’t shake the feeling as if she was being summoned to a feast fraught with tension.
She planned to leave, but with Pei Liyan’s arrangements, she suddenly lost the will to do so.
Half an hour later, Si Ran arrived at the Pei Family home.
Mrs. Feng evidently recognized Si Ran and was quite familiar with her.
"Si Ran, you’ve come."
"Mrs. Feng, I am here to accompany the madam to the makeover."
"That’s great, Si Ran. Please make sure to give the madam a thorough makeover. She’s always too plain and doesn’t quite look like a lady," Mrs. Feng complained casually, apparently very familiar with Si Ran.
"Yes, that’s my duty," Si Ran replied with a light smile.
Qiao Rui came downstairs and saw a woman in a neat business suit speaking with Mrs. Feng on the ground floor, her plain and neat appearance enhanced by a layer of matte lipstick, creating a subdued, soft matte effect, and a sense of hazy beauty on the lips.
Just one look, and Qiao Rui showed appreciation for this low-profile and sophisticated girl.
As she watched Si Ran, Si Ran also looked up and saw Qiao Rui on the stairs.
Their eyes met, and a hint of surprise flashed across Si Ran’s graceful face, subtle, but still captured by Qiao Rui.
Qiao Rui had not expected the person sent to be a female secretary, and a pretty one at that.
It was good, at least, that it wasn’t Qiao Xiang.
"Madam, I’m Si Ran, President Pei’s secretary. I have been instructed to escort you to Goddess," Si Ran’s tone was strictly professional.
