Late afternoon the next day, I sat at the KODA council with my eyes blazing at Ralp Isla. Boris had summoned all the council members, as per Lyal’s suggestion.

"Your son stole documents at the council hall, "I sneered at Ralph Isla.

"You installed a second camera in his office against the rules of the City Council. That is how you could capture him taking his title deeds and rushing out. " Ralph retorted.

"His title deeds?" I chuckled.

"Why would you find that funny, Alpha Lobo? " Benjamin interjected. " I am informed that the young lad was mated to Everest. He was excited and wanted to share his wealth with his new mate. He applied for leave and rushed out of his office. What documents could he have possibly taken that have you so worried "

I could tell they came prepared.

"You seem to be defending Levi Isla Benjamin?" Boris Carter’s voice rose.

"I hate people who waste my time on nonsense. Please present the second camera footage for us to review. I hope you will also send it to the mayor, " Benjamin remarked.

"No need to get so serious, Benjamin, "I drawled.

"Did you call us here to waste our time?" Elder Zaya stood up. I could tell she looked sick and tired. If this old geezer could die, then I would have more wealth from Conri.

"You look sick and tired, Elder Zaya. "I remarked.

"You wish for me to die soon, Lobo, but my wolf will never give you that chance. I am leaving. "She sarcastically responded, and I felt Aria’s anger rise.

"I know you don’t have respect for me but I am still the Alpha of the pack," I found myself growling at her.

She turned around with one raised eyebrow. " Lobo, do you think you are a match for this old woman? You are wasting our time by calling us here with your agenda. You want to go after Levi Isla, so you brought the council members here to accuse him. Let me forewarn you if anything happens to him. I will not hold back, " she asserted.

"Neither will I "Benjamin stood up.

"You can mess around with your pack members, but not our children. "Luna Elijah’s calm voice reached our ears. "I have not forgotten the fact that your minion sent a mangy wolf after my daughter, Tala. The same mangy wolf that attacked Lucian and Conri. While we are seated here, you have not briefed us on how far the investigation is going "

"You are stronger than all of them. If you attack, they will not be your match, " Aria growled through our mind link.

"Why should I expose my powers to them? Just let them die after the power of the Crystal diminishes," I responded through our mind link.

"Lobo, you say that my son took the documents. I insisted on seeing the footage, "Ralph Isla spoke,

"Don’t bother yourself with this. He will not show it to us," Benjamin chuckled as he held Elder Zaya’s hand and they walked out of the KODA council hall. Ralpha, Isla,, and Luna Elijah followed suit, and they left me with Hunter and Boris Carter.

"Alpha Lobo, what do we do about these four KODA council members?" Boris Carter complained.

"Patiently, wait for the power of the Adora Crystal to diminish. The full moon will be here and they will be at their weakest. "I chuckled and stood up. " Then we shall see who is the Alpha of the pack. I don’t need the KODA council to manage me"

"True" Boris Carter nodded.

I noticed that Hunter remained silent throughout the whole conversation. Once Boris Carter left, I sat down and stared at Hunter, waiting for him to speak. But he remained silent and stood on guard.

"If you don’t speak your mind, then we shall remain at a stalemate," I snickered.

His eyes turned to me for a second and then they darted back to stare straight ahead.

"You think I don’t trust you and acted without your knowledge? Though you acted first when Conri and Lucian confronted you, you have been unhappy about my move. "I stated.

"Mmmh" Hunter responded.

" You are wondering why I did so?" I stood up and walked over to stand, towering over him.

Hunter remained stoic, and the fact that he was being rebellious made my blood boil. "I am the Alpha of the pack. I decide when to act and I don’t have to explain myself to anyone" I turned around to leave.

"Alpha, you know that is not why. I wondered why you did not trust me to do the job instead of going behind my back. Now the enforcers are all gossipping and saying you don’t trust me " Hunter finally spoke up.

I never calculated that far. All I did was to plan and execute the attack. It seemed that Hunter was right. He had been dealing with the pack on my behalf and the way I acted. They would be rebellious and I would lose the fear that I had instilled in them.

" Fine. I admit I acted out of anger. I promise to involve you next time. But Hunter, the pack is not loyal to you but me," I snapped and started leaving the room.

I heard his intake of breath and knew he was holding back all the anger. Aria chuckled and said, "He is just a mutt that is beneath us. No need to explain to him"

"But we need him. He has been a good enforcer and has managed to keep the pack at bay while I gather my power. If we lose his loyalty, we might suffer. And he is the only one who knows how to breed the mangy wolves’ army. Let us be patient with him, " I told Aria.

Once we got to the car, I turned around to speak to Hunter. " What about Rex’s body?"

"Eaten by the fish, " He responded, but I could see how stiff his shoulders were.

"Am starving, let us go for dinner together," I informed him.

He nodded, and we drove to a nearby diner and sat down to eat. After a few drinks, I noticed his shoulders had sagged, and the stiffness had gone.

"You do hold your anger well, "I chuckled. "I could tell you were seething a few hours ago. "

A small smile played on his lips, and before one of the enforcers rushed over to our table.

"What is it? " Hunter demanded.

"One of the airport staff said he saw Rex leaving Alaska last week. " The enforcer whispered.

"Impossible!!!" Hunter responded.

"Is it? "My eyes blazed at him.

"I have sent the footage to your phone. I have no idea what magic was used, but he looked as healthy as a horse."

Hunter took the phone from his pocket and was glued to it for a few minutes before he cursed, "What the fuck?"
