LUCIAN POV

"What evidence do you have that we were behind the attack?" Hunter seethed defensively.

"Isn’t that your enforcer?" I responded in anger, pointing at the guy lying on the ground unconscious.

Hunter remained mute as he walked around the large meadow, analyzing and counting the dead wolves. He stared at the whole scenario, and I instantly knew it baffled him.

"Fucking shit "I cursed. "Someone better be responsible for this mess. I will not take it lightly that they trespassed on Freki’s land. "

We watched as Hunter took out his phone and made a phone call. Zeeb, Anisha, and Tala arrived an hour later.

"What the fuck happened here?" Anisha demanded.

"They ambushed us," Conri reported.

"I would say they got what they deserved, " Tala smirked.

"But Hunter seems to stall. "My eyes blazed.

"Wait, "Tala stated and walked over to the hunter.

"What do you want, Elijah?" Hunter demanded.

"You messed up real bad. " Tala laughed and pointed at Hunter.

"Fuck off, "He seethed at Tala but fear was laced in his eyes. The cold and hard demeanor was long gone and what it left was worry and fear.

"Watch your mouth, Hunter!!!" Zeeb’s voice rose. "We demand an explanation of this attack. The Freki agreement with the KODA council is clear.No members of the pack shall attack the Freki’s"

"And yet they did," Anisha muttered.

"We don’t know what happened yet? Alpha Lobo is on his way, " Hunter defended himself.

"Hiding behind Lobo will not absolve you of this attack," Conri seethed.

"No one asked for your opinion, " Hunter retorted.

"Call Elder Zaya Anisha. The KODA council needs to know of the attack, "I exclaimed. I watched the color on Hunter’s face drain.

"What wolves are these?" Zeeb demanded.

"Mangy wolves that feed on Cinnabar. ’’ Conri laughed. "Pieces of garbage used by enforcers to scare the pack. "

Hunter took a step back and shook his head in shock at the fact that I knew the hidden fact.

"Does that look like the wolf that attacked us? I remember the smell and the size, "Tala stated as she pointed at the headless wolf lying without its head.

"Yes," Anisha confirmed. "Looks exactly like it. "

"Boy, you are in a lot of trouble, "Tala smirked at Hunter.

"I am not the one behind this attack, "Hunter stammered. "How dare you accuse me?

"No one said you were!! "Anisha laughed sarcastically. "But how does it feel to be accused of something you did not do, huh?"

Alpha Lobo on the scene gave us the impression that Hunter must have been clueless about the attack. His face was filled with rage as he stared at Lobo’s calm face. Alpha Lobo must have organized the attack behind his back.

"Alpha Lobo "I yelled.

He walked over with so much calmness that I knew he had ordered the enforcer to attack. Which meant that there were more wolves hidden on the mountain.

"CEO Lucian, I came as soon as Hunter called" He pretended to be concerned.

"They attacked us in the Freki lands as we took an evening run from the Construction site"

"And you killed all these wolves ?" He raised his eyebrows but glued his eyes on Conri.

"Yes." I nodded and laced my hands around his arm.

Conri smirked. " The mangy rogue wolves are lucky that I only stood by watching as they attacked. They got a simple death"

"CEO Lucians’ wolf is amazing "Tala beamed. Her praise must have ticked off Alpha Lobo since he turned and stated, " How do we know that you were not the one who attacked the enforcer, killed the wolves and now you are here accusing him?"

"Why would we need to attack him? "I took a step towards Alpha Lobo.

"No need to get emotional Freki," Alpha Lobo smirked.

"The agreement between the Freki and the KODA council is clear, " Anisha informed Alpha Lobo. "I already called Elder Benjamin. The enforcers have violated the code by attacking CEO Lucian and Conri Dolf. "

"Where is the evidence? Dead wolves? What about the enforcer?" Alpha Lobo demanded.

"Dead wolves are the evidence. As your fucking enforcer, they should throw him in the Pack jail without trial. Trespassing on the Freki lands, attacking me and my husband. Those are enough crimes that warrant death. But we need not kill him. I only knocked him out. ’’ I retorted.

I could tell Alpha Lobo had been cornered and was deep in thought of how to get out of the quagmire.

"Fine. I apologize for this mishap. The pack enforcer’s office shall scrutinize this matter. "He waved his hands dismissively.

"Unfortunately, that is not enough. CEO Lucian. This requires the KODA council’s wise counsel." Anisha asserted.

"Great. Now that you are here Alpha Lobo, we shall leave you to handle everything" I turned around and pulled Conri’s hand as we left the meadow with Anisha, Tala, and Zeeb following us.

We walked towards the Freki Lands back to the Construction site. Anisha and Zeeb’s cars were packed at the entrance as Everest paced up and down in worry. The minute he spotted us he rushed to demand " What happened?"

"The mangy rogue wolves that Hunter keeps, attacked Lucian and Conri. "

"Hunter looked clueless, "Tala said, what we were all thinking.

"Alpha Lobo sent the wolves after us," Conri stated.

"We have a mole on the construction site. One guard or someone who was watching us last night"

"Fuck "Everest cursed.

We were all deep in thoughts when Anisha’s assertive voice rose. "Brother, what the fuck killed the mangy rogue wolves? And don’t fucking give me the bullshit that it was you or Conri? I could smell something powerful and the power was not of the wolves.

"What?" Zeeb’s eyes darted between me and Conri.

"Let it go," Conri commanded. "We need to head back to the mansion. We have othe important matters at hand. Its best we discuss them at the Freki mansion where its private and secure"

"Let it go? Why?" Anisha’s eyes widened
