Hnoss was a magnet for trouble. How could she make such an announcement? I turned to her in shock and she had this look on her face that was filled with desperation and it went right to my heart. I was about to respond but Balduir interjected with a retort

" Mate? A serpent shifter as your mate? Hnoss you are too much "

" Mother, I have been dreaming of Bering since I awakened my godly powers. Do you think that fate is wrong? I have tried to forget him and even went to the chambers of the god of fate and marriages and she confirmed that she could not change what was destined. Tell me, mother, what can I do?" Hnoss begged.

" How dare a lowly sea god be worthy of you ?" Freyja snickered.

" I wondered the same. But Bering is fair and just. He has been guarding the sea for a thousand years. His people value him so much and I see no evil in him. How could you not be happy that I found a mate?"

" Go back with me" Freyja commanded.

" I will. But he will come with us. I want to confirm from the god of fate and marriages that the dreams that I have are just visions. And Hnoss my wolf is wrong about him" Hnoss stood her ground and her eyes blazed.

"No," I said. " I am not leaving the sea. "

" You have no right to speak before us," Baldur growled.

" One would think that you are in love with Hnoss, WHy do you keep interfering?" I snickered and Hnoss suppressed a chuckle while Freyja’s eyes widened and the guards lowered their heads.

" What are you talking about insolent human "Baldur cursed at me.

" Even though I am a human, I can sense the emotions that are bouncing off your body. Jealous and affectionate for her. " I pointed at Hnoss.

" I often wondered why you always had your nose in my business:" Hnoss snickered.

" Shut up" Freyja yelled and her voice thundered around the sea and even lightning struck the water. " Go back with me, Hnoss. Let us clarify this matter first. "

"Promise me, Mother, that you will ensure that if you confirm that Bering is my mate, you will let us be" Hnoss stood her ground.

Her mother was silent for a while and then she nodded and I watched Baldur growl in anger. " Thank you Mother" Hnoss bobbed her head and then he walked towards me and whispered " Wait for me. I will be back for you"

" You are too much trouble Hnoss" I responded as my eyes darted away and never expected her to raise herself on tiptoe and press a kiss on my cheek. By the time I turned around, they had vanished into the heavens and what was left was the turbulence in the sea.

I stood by the beach and the guards rushed over in a panic " My Lord, the waves are at it again. We have searched the ocean and we have no idea who it is that is coming in the water. General Alex is over the west of the sea searching"

" Go and recall him back " I responded.

" Yes, My lord. " They bowed and left.

A small smile played on my lips as I stared up at the sky and realized that Hnoss was about to change everything in my life.

" She is our mate " My serpent beast pushed the words through.

" She is out of our reach. A god. " I responded.

" You are the serpent sea god," My beast boasted.

" She is an immortal god, " I emphasized.

" Our mate, " My beast asserted.

I chose to remain silent, waiting for General Alex to show up. Half an hour later, General Alex arrived at the beach surrounded by guards.

" My Lord" He bowed and the guards followed suit.

" Stop the search" I commanded " The persons have already gone back.

General Alex’s eyes widened as he stared at me in shock. " You know who it is?"

" Yes. They arrived from the immortal realm and they have gone back home. " I responded with calmness.

" Immortal realm?" General Alex dismissed the guards and then we were left standing at the beach.

" Yes. Odin’s wife Freyja the Goddess, Hnoss her daughter, and one called Baldur who called her aunty" I explained to General Alex.

" What did they want ?" General Alex asked.

" No idea." I lied " But they are gone. The sea is safe. Keep guard and be on high alert for the next few days"

" Yes My Lord " General Alex nodded and I walked back to the water, shifted, and returned to the pearl nest. Sleep eluded me for days and I became anxious by the day as time flew by and my beast became restless as the days flew by.

" She will be back" My beast assured me but I could feel how worried he was.

Exactly one week later, I sensed the waves’ turbulence at night and rushed from the pearl nest and was on the beach in a flash. I found guards accompanied by Baldur and an older man.

" Come with us " Baldur spoke up with disdain.

" Why ?" I demanded and then General Alex arrived with so many guards and they surrounded us.

" Greetings sea god. My name is Freya. Hnoss is my niece and this is my son Baldur. We have been asked to bring you back to the Immortal Real to visit the god of fate and marriages. " He spoke up.

" What does that have to do with me?" I demanded.

" Hnoss claims she is your mate. And looking at how you rushed to the beach, you were expecting her" Freya smirked.

" You are an immortal god and I am just a serpent sea god. Please don’t make it difficult for me. Go back and tell Hnoss to stop causing a ruckus. " I responded.

" What ?" Baldur stepped forward. " How dare you?"

" You better lower your voice unless you want me to repeat the words I said on the beach the last time you are here" I asserted and felt my beast rise in anger. Baldur’s eyes widened and he pulled his mouth into a thin line of displeasure. Freya seemed surprised and his eyes widened in shock.

" No wonder Hnoss is adamant that we should go back with you " He responded with an amused look.

" I am busy" I was about to turn and leave.

" If you don’t come with me Hnoss will be in a lot of trouble " Freya responded with a drawl.

I could feel the anger and rage that came from my beast and it forced the guards to stagger back General Alex placed an arm on my hand and whispered " Calm down My lord.

" How can he have such power? " Baldur whispered in shock.

" It would be best if you came with us, ’’ Freya emphasized.

I huffed and turned to General Alex and said " Keep watch. I will be back soon" I moved and stood next to Freya and then we left the beach. In a matter of minutes, we stood in the clouds gate into the immortal realm. We walked into the gates and arrived at a large hall. The whole place was built with gold and even the light shone off the building as the place lit up. We walked close to an hour and I saw the way the guards looked at me in shock as they bowed at us.

We entered a large hall and my feet faltered when I spotted Hnoss seated next to Freya at the end of the hall. There was a woman seated on the opposite side of Hnoss as I guess she was her sister. The rest of the people seemed like guards and family as they all snickered at me as we walked toward Freyja.

" Sister, I fulfilled my duty and brought Bering to the immortal realm" Freya announced.

" Sister, my goodness, he is so handsome," the woman who resembled Hnoss whispered.

" Mind your tongue " Hnoss snapped and her power radiated in the room and much to my surprise everyone in the room seemed scared of her.

An old woman who was seated on the right side stood up " Freya, since you summoned me, let us not waste each other’s time" She walked over and took my hand in hers, and then I felt her power move into me for a second and then it was gone. She smiled and then pulled me towards Freya and said " He is indeed the mate of Hnoss"

" Nonsense " Freya stood up and walked over to me. Hnoss moved so fast and blocked her way.

" Mother, let Frigg test us again," Hnoss suggested.

Frigg nodded and then she took my hand and Hnoss and laced it together. Then took Freya’s hand in her and then pushed her power into us. I listened to the gasp that came from Freya as he eyes widened and she staggered back.

" Impossible " Freya growled so loud that the whole hall shook and everyone else went down on their knees, including Frig, Freya, and Figg. The only people who remained on their feet were Hnoss and I.

" Mother, Bering is my mate," Hnoss emphasized.

" I forbid it " Freya seethed.

" Fine" I nodded " I am leaving. I have no part in this

" Bering," Hnoss’s voice pleaded. " Please"

" I hate infighting within families. Your mother rejects our mating and I can see the disdained looks on everyone’s faces. I would rather remain single for the rest of my life than be caught in a web of hate" I asserted as the gasped rose in the room and Hnoss’ eyes filled with tears.

" Mother, I will never marry unless it’s Bering Tisikpuk, the serpent sea god. And that is a vow I am making and you all bear witness." Hnoss yelled and her voice echoed in the hall.

" You have doomed us all " Freya whispered.

" So be it Mother" Hnoss responded and pulled me out of the hall and we left the immortal realm.
