Chapter 262: LIFE AND DEATH

Kaka made his move at night as we had predicted. He left the hotel and headed by the sea side where a large boat was packed by the dock. A man was waiting and they conversed for a while before he boarded the boat and left the dock.

"We shall follow him closely, " Hunter said as we boarded the boat he had prepared. Lucian and Zeeb accompanied me while Anisha and Tala stayed behind at the mansion. Everest, Lovita, Toten, and Old Man Cyrus were at the pearl farm with some of the pack enforcers.

Kaka drove to the sea circling the pearl farm for close to an hour and then he took the boat to a nearby Island.

" I bet that he has a smaller boat, " Hunter suggested.

" Mmh" I nodded as I welcomed the cold sea breeze and it calmed my nerves.

True to Hunter’s words, Kaka left the small Island in a small boat. He steered it towards the pearl farm Island. He docked the little boat and then sneaked into the Island.

" Time to take him down, " Hunter growled as we steered our boat to the pearl farm.

By the time we got to the pearl farm, there was a brutal fight. Everyone was in wolf form but Old Man Cyrus lay on the ground unconscious. A black smoke surrounded Kaka and I deduced that when he was attacked, Tabular must have taken over his body.

I pushed my powers into him and he looked startled as he dropped to his knees on the ground and then turned in my direction as we walked over.

Lucian rushed over to old man Cyrus while I concentrated on Kaka.

" The last time I saw you, you disappeared like a rat and now you show up in my pack lands. How should I deal with you?" I growled at him.

His laughter was one filled with pain and regret " King of Wolves power combined with Adora. I was truly no match for you "

" Tabular" I snickered.

" How did you find me? " Tabular’s voice boomed.

" I left a trace of Adora in you " I responded.

" What ?" Tabular voices sounded shocked.

" I have had enough of your shit:" I spoke up and then Adora’s powers rose and pulled Tabular from Kaka’s body. It rose from Kaka and when it dropped to the ground, Kaka gagged and dropped dead on the ground.

I walked over and attempted to pick it and Adora’s voice rose " Don’t touch it"

" Why ?" I demanded.

" Let Lucian pick it up and throw it in the sea. He is the only one with a strong mental mind to hold it. Though it has diminished its power, we shouldn’t take a chance" Adora advised.

I turned around and Lucian was already striding towards me. He picked up the Tabular Crystal and then placed it in the bag that Zeeb handed out.

" Tizheruk should be on his way here. He will take it into the deep ocean where no one can find it" I started and then Dolf stirred sensing that Tizheruk was here. " Speak of the devil"

" He is here?" Hunter asked.

And then felt a large splash of water and a large serpent shifted midair and then Tizheruk stood at the edge of the pearl farm.

" Did you all see that? " Lovita whispered.

" Get used to it, " Everest chuckled.

" I will not " Toten staggered forward and rubbed his eyes.

" So where is the damn crystal? " Tizheruk walked over and stood next to me.

" Here " Lucian handed it over and Tizheruk placed it in his pocket.

" I sense two dead bodies " Tizheruk spoke up and then his eyes darted to Kaka and when he spotted Old man Cyrus he cursed and walked over to him and went down on his knees. He placed a hand on his chest, listening, and then pushed his power into him.

" What is going on ?" Toten whispered as we all moved closer.

" Is he going to revive him? Kaka had already killed him before we could reach him" Lovita explained.

" Can you all keep quiet " I spoke, feeling the power of Tizheruk, and then Cyrus coughed, shocking all of us.

" Fuck" Toten cursed.

" Impossible" Lovita shook his head.

" How are you feeling? " Tizheruk spoke to old man Cyrus.

" Like I have been hit " He rasped as Tizheruk helped him sit up. Hunter and Everest rushed to help him stand and they walked over to the house.

"Conri, my work is done here. I have to head back before Haida gets pissed." Tizheruk spoke

" Thank you for today " I patted his shoulder and nodded at him.

" Anytime" He rushed over to the edge of the pearl farm, shifted midair, and then disappeared into the sea.

" I will never get used to that, " Zeeb stated.

" I am shocked beyond words, " Lovita whispered.

" You and I both " Toten added.

" Thank God he came. I would not have known how to explain to Tharn about his grandfather " Lovita rubbed his face with frustration.

" Mmmh" Toten walked over and laced his arm around Lovita’s hand.

" Come over and throw this body in the sea " I commanded the enforcers. They rushed and picked up Kaka’s body while we all walked into the main house at the pearl farm. Upon entry, we found that Hunter had prepared a cup of hot chocolate for Old Man Cyrus while Everest stood by the window.

" That was a close call," Old Man Cyrus stated.

" He ambushed us and I never expected him to be so powerful," Lovita stated. " I am glad you are okay"

" Tizheruk added a few more years for me to live," Old man Cyrus chuckled.

" Thank you for calling him over Alpha Conri," Toten spoke up.

" It’s what I should do. I have to protect the Golden shifter pack. With that said, I hope that you can all keep what happened here a secret. Let no one speak of it. I do not want the powers of Tizheruk exposed or any word about the Tabular leaked out. Hunter, the enforcers present today need to be sworn to secrecy. I don’t want to give Lobo or Zineb any way to find out what happened here." I spoke in a commanding voice.

" Yes, Alpha Conri" Everyone piped, including Lucian.

" But allow us to tell our mates, " Toten whispered. " Tharn will be pissed off if we lie to him"

" That is fine," I nodded.

" I owe my life to him. I will keep it a secret" Old man Cyrus piped.

"It’s late, we better get back to the mainland" I state

We left the pearl farm at three am leaving the enforcers behind to guard it. We passed by the hospital to get Old Man Cyrus checked and left Lovita and Toten behind as the doctors ran a few tests on him. Everest and Hunter bid us farewell when we got to the mansion and once Lucian closed the main doors, he leaned on it and asked " What is bothering you ?"

" Today was a close call. We almost lost a life. What happens next time when we push Tizheruk to use his powers? Do you think Haida will be happy? And more sore today I felt that Tizheruk’s powers were not as powerful as before. Something is wrong Lucian "

" Do you have a way of confirming it ?" Lucian pulled me along and we sat on the couch.

" Only when I am close to him " I huffed. " And today, he seems to be in a hurry. I could sense that he was holding back and now I am sure that he is hiding something.

" How about we fly to Sitka in the afternoon?" Lucian suggested. " The jet is ready. I just need to make a phone call and we can be airborne once ready. I am sure Alexander and Charry will be happy to have us in Sitka."

" That would be good. I will leave the pack matters to Lovita and Hunter. What about you in the office ?" Conri asked.

" The CEO can surely take a day off right?" Lucian teased

" Yes. Come on. Let us get to bed, we need the rest. It’s been forty-eight hours since we discovered his presence. Kaka knew he was going to die or else he would not have unleashed Tabular’s powers." I pulled Lucian up and we walked out of the living room and headed to the bed to rest.

An hour later, I was still awake stoic in bed, as I held Lucian and Dolf stirred in our mind and said "It’s either he is poisoned or used his power to save another life before he got to Chugach."

" We have to be sure." I pushed the words back and then pulled Lucian closer, cuddling him and breathing in his scent.

" Freki can sense your fear and worry. " Dolf complained.

" Today was risky. I don’t want any of my pack members endangered. "

" You mean you are afraid that Lucian might get hurt " Dolf snickered.

" Yes," I responded and closed my eyes as a deep wave of sleep engulfed me.
