Chapter 26: THE TIZHERUK

I arrived at the KODA council meeting and found Zeeb Elijah lazing on the reception couch. The minute he saw me, he huffed in frustration. I ignored him and leaned on the wall by the couch as he perused through his tablet.

The door opened, and I scented him before I saw him. Lucian Freki walked out of the hall, saw me and the words that came out of his mouth were "Conri". Dolf’s eyes opened, and he stood up.

Lucian walked over, and before he could speak, Benjamin was out of the door, summoning me. I hesitated for a minute before walking past Lucian and getting into the council room.

The wolves next to Hunter growled while Hunter’s eyes blazed. My eyes widened as I stared at the fading bruise on his left cheek and I heard Godmother’s muffled chuckle. Benjamin closed the door as Alpha Lobo looked away and it made me wonder what transpired while Lucian was in the room.

"It is not a pleasure to see you, "KODA council Chair Carter said.

"No need to be rude to Conri. , just inform him why he is here, "Raph Isla snapped.

"Alpha Lobo should be the one to inform my godson of our decision. "

I watched as Alpha Lobo turned around and his wolf rose to the surface. His eyes blazed with fury and something else I could not put my finger on. As he stood up and walked towards me as we stood toe to toe.

"Conri Dolf, you found another wolf to kill. Lucian will be married to you for three years but I will watch you every single day. I want to see how to stay at the Freki mansion for three years without killing another wolf.

"Thank you Alpha for your kind words, "I responded.

"You-" Alpha Lobo seethed.

"You don’t need to stand so close, ’’ I retorted.

He raised his hand to hit me, but the loud growl from Godmother stopped him. I took a step back to move away from him, watched his eyes widen, and then he walked back to his chair.

"We have agreed to your terms, Conri Dolf. You will marry Lucian Freki on a three-year contract marriage as you build the Freki resort. You will live in the Freki mansion and may not leave. Your movements will be restricted to the Freki lands and the mountains. "

I nodded in agreement.

"That will be all," Hunter responded through gritted teeth.

"What about his bank accounts and assets?" Raph Isla spoke up.

"You are pushing it too far, " Alpha Lobo banged the table.

"Lobo, no matter how much you growl and bang the table, my godson’s assets and money are his," Godmother spoke up.

"I agree," Benjamin added. "Since he will be married to Lucian, his assets and bank accounts will be handed over to Lucian Freki"

"No fucking way," Carter spoke up.

"What a joke. "Hunter’s angry voice rose.

"Luna Elija, you are the legal representative of the council. What does the law say? "

"The assets belong to Conri Dolf. If he is married, Lucian Freki will automatically own everything"

Alpha Lobo stood up and laughed. " So, this was your plan all along?’

Luna Elijah calmly spoke to Alpha Lobo" Be careful with your words"

"You all conspired together to get this murderer back into our society? "Hunter seethed.

"I never knew that the Freki mansion is a society," Benjamin snapped

"I want a fair life for Conri. It has been twenty years. "Godmother asserted. " He will be busy building a resort under the watchful eye of Lucian. He is not back in the society as yet. For the past twenty years, he has met your demands. "

"We have not gone against any rule of the KODA council," Benjamin pushed on.

"Conri, someone will still label you a rogue and a murderer. Marrying my nephew will not absolve you from it. The KODA council has voted, but I will not hesitate to give my sentiments as the chair. Do you think Lucian Freki will protect you? Think again," Carter spoke up.

"He has no right to speak in this council, "Hunter scoffed.

"That is why I can speak for him. "Godmother’s eyes blazed at Hunter and he looked away in fear.

There was a knock on the door of the council hall and Eliana Due walked in. Alpha Lobo smirked and Hunter smiled.

"Welcome Eliana," Carter spoke up.

"I hope I am not too late," she spoke up and stared at me in anger.

"Why are you here? You are not a member of this council, ’ Godmother snapped.

"I invited her" Alpha Lobo spoke up." I should inform the Due family of what is about to transpire. " Elder Zaya proposed that Conri marry CEO Lucian Freki. "

Eliana laughed and shook her head. " You want Lucian to be killed just like how my daughter was?"

"Is that why you followed me to the mountains last night?" I spoke up since I was not going to let this woman belittle me again.

"What? "Godmother stood up.

"So what," Eliana blazed.

"Why did you do that? "Luna Elijah’s soft-spoken voice rose amongst us.

"She came to inform me that some old geezers wanted to get me out of the mountains, but as long as she was alive, she would never let me be happy," I reported.

Godmother laughed, and the sound boomed in the entire room. " Old geezers? Eliane Due, are you challenging me?"

She looked shocked and shook her head while Alpha Lobo closed his eyes in frustration.

" You are right. As an old geezer, I voted yes. "Ralph Isla leaned back in his chair with a smirk. Eliana Due lowered her head in embarrassment.

" Now that you invited her here, what was your intention? " Benjamin turned to Alpha Lobo.

"My godson is getting married. I dare anyone to stop it," Godmother snapped.

I could feel the anger and frustration oozing out of Eliana Due.

"What about the creature he harbors on the mountain?" She stated.

The entire room was silent.

"What creature? " Hunter took a step forward.

"There is something in the mountains. It was big and I could not see it clearly due to the fog. So I ran. He even advised me to run, "she said.

"What the hell is she talking about, Conri? "Godmother demanded.

"Traps" I stated

"What?"

"Over the years, there have been hunters coming into the mountain. I suspected that they wanted to kill me and hence I set traps in the mountain to protect myself. That is all" I shrugged my shoulders.

She shook her head and muttered incoherently, " There was something else. Something large that was moving the trees and the bushes as it chased me."

Benjamin stood up and demanded, " Conri, did I hear you right? Hunters have been coming to the mountains for years?"

"Yes," I nodded.

Benjamin turned to Hunter, who straightened his back and stood in defense mode.

"Did you send your minions to kill Conri?" Benjamin growled

"No," He lied, and he turned to look at Alpha Lobo with pleading eyes.

Alpha Lobo banged the table and stood up. " Carter, end this meeting at once!" He signaled Hunter that they should leave, walked to the door, and hissed at Eliane "Move" and the three of them left the KODA council meeting room.

"You are dismissed, " Carter waved his hand at me.

Godmother was already up from her chair as she rushed to me and beamed, " Congratulations, my child. You are getting married"

"You are always extra godmother!!!"
