Chapter 195: POISON AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

CONRI’S POV

Two days later, I was at the construction site when I picked up the scent of Lobo Aria from the wind. I stepped out of the gate and headed in the direction of the scent. An hour later I arrived at the edge of the forest by the rocks where most boats would dock if one was going on a hike.

I walked down to the rocks and found that Lobo Aria had been there. There was the scent of the hybrid and I cursed out knowing they must have followed us from Sitka to Alaska. I got my phone out from the jacket pocket when the wind picked up Tizheruk’s scent and even Dolf stirred.

" Why are you following me ?" I yelled.

" I felt the worry from Dolf as I was in the woods taking a stroll and then followed you. " Tizheruk walked towards me and then raised his chin defensively.

" Do you think I am a fool? You have been following me since you came back from Sitka yesterday" I scolded him. " What is it that is worrying you"

" Alexander called. Isamu and Lobo had a submarine. I saw it with my own eyes when I got to the nest with Haida. " Tizheruk confessed.

" What the fuck? " I growled and then added " I picked up his scent here. They stopped by "

" I see. So they followed you to check if we took Zineb. I am glad they ended up with nothing or else they would still be in Chugach." Tizheruk stated

" You managed to access the nest right?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Yes. It’s been a while since I went back. And Haida loved it. " He confessed.

" And your powers grew right?" I stepped forward as I asked him.

" The next is like a recharge for the serpent sea god. " He shrugged his shoulders.

" I want to go to Japan and finish the battle there. I don’t want Lobo to come to Chugach and cause mayhem. " I confessed.

" They have access to the water route and we need to ensure that we block them from accessing the waters. I was afraid when I saw the submarine" Tizheruk shuddered.

" Isamu came prepared " I nodded at him Tizheruk.

" He came to kill me. And now that he is back in Japan, he must be training Lobo to wield the crystal"

" We need to take the battle to him. Alexander might have bought us time for now but I bet they have gone back to regroup and attack again. "I huffed.

"Our families in Chugach and Sitka are not safe. You know that Alexander exposed himself to Isamu and now he knows that Sitka has serpent shifters. " Tizheruk explained.

" It was necessary but risky " I nodded as we walked back to the construction site. " Is everyone safe?"

" Isamu killed ten guards when he went on a rampage. It seems that our guess was right. Zineb is his mate" Tizheruk pointed out.

" How did Alexander manage to hold them back ?" I raised one eyebrow at Tizheruk.

" Alexander is the general second in command to the serpent shifters. I can project my powers to him since he is in charge of guarding the barrier. " He explained.

"Mmmmh. That is why you kept it a secret. Now I understand, " I nodded at Tizheruk.

" There is one more thing. Haida possess the power of the serpent shifter queen. She is formidable but reckless. I wonder if Anisha or Tala can speak to her so that she understands the danger of attacking head-on."

" Those three are the same " I chuckled and at that moment Everest appeared from the gate looking out of breath.

" What is it? " Tizheruk spoke before I could ask.

" I have no idea what is wrong but the workers on the site are all falling sick"

"What do you mean ?" I demanded and Everest fell on the ground unconscious before I could answer.

Tizheruk pulled me back and involved me with his powers and said " Poison. Dangerous to shifters. It’s in the air "

"How ?" I growled.

"Someone must have brought it to the construction site to cause problems, " Tizheruk stated.

" It’s in the painting spray " Dolf growled.

" I can smell it too " Tizheruk responded and I realized Dolf’s words had penetrated Tizheruk’s mind.

" Fuck "I growled so loud and Tizheruk covered his ears.

" You do realize that I’m standing right next to you " He complained.

" What is wrong ?" I heard Lucian’s words push through into my mind.

I closed my eyes and watched Tizheruk chuckling in mischief and mouth " Your mate heard your worries. "

"Someone put poison in the painting spray at the construction site. Most of the workers are unconscious including Everest " I informed him.

" I am on my way, " Lucian responded.

" Shit" My eyes snapped open.

" He will be here soon. I suggest we go in and remove the paint spray" Tizheruk advised.

We entered the construction site and all the workers were lying on the ground we moved to the area where the paint spray was being mixed. We carried the gallons out of the site and placed them in sacks one by one. We then carried Everest in and placed it in the container offer and then walked out of the construction site and closed the door.

Thirty minutes later, Lucian, Zeeb, Anisha, and Levy arrived at the construction site.

" What the fuck is going on ?" They all asked at once.

" Someone is causing trouble" I growled and Tizheruk was the one who ended up explaining what happened.

" How do we neutralize what we can’t see?" Zeeb demanded.

" What kind of poison is this?" Anisha asked.

" Freki blood can cure all poison " Lucian spoke up and there was pin-drop silence.

" No" I was the first one to object to his statement.

" Get the hospital team to come and use it as an antidote" Lucian emphasized.

’" No one in the pack should know of such a secret " I growled at Lucian.

" I will draw out our blood and pretend it’s mine, ’’ Anisha suggested.

" No, it’s too risky. Someone must have done this to draw us out. It’s not about the construction site but revealing the true nature of the Freki wolf" Tizheruk spoke up.

" What do you suggest we do? " Levy’s voice rose.

" I know you are worried about Everest but you don’t need to raise your voice, ’’ Anisha scolded him. " Conri, one of your men whom elder Zaya recruited, is a doctor. Benjamin knows him well. Let us call them to come to the Construction site before it gets dark."

" That is a good idea. We can prepare the antidote and inject it into the workers. " Tizheruk agreed.

The doctor and Benjamin arrived an hour later and then an antidote was created for the construction workers. Levy had insisted it be given to Everest first and twenty minutes later, he stirred awake.

" What the hell? " He rubbed his head in pain.

" You fell on the ground with a thud before we could catch you, " Tizheruk explained.

" That is not it. The pounding headache must be from the drug in the construction site. I feel like my head is about to burst and even my wolf is complaining " Everest groaned as we walked out of the container office to check on the rest of the workers.

And it followed suit on all the workers as they all jolted awake one after the other. But I noticed that Tizheruk was keen as he watched each worker one after the other until the female cleaner worked up and Tizheruk snickered at her.

" What is it ?" I asked him

" She has the least amount of poison in her body. So that would explain how she put in the paint spray and kept far away from it. And I bet she does not have a headache" Tizheruk pushed the words to all our minds and I could see the widening looks on Anisha, Zeeb, Levy, and Everest.

I nodded and he then pointed at her and said " Lady, come closer "

Her eyes widened but she obeyed my request and walked closer to where we stood.

" Are you okay? It seems that you were most affected " I lied as she shook her head and pretended to be in pain.

I pushed my power into her and her wolf whined in fear. Tizheruk was right, she was the one who had mixed the paint spray with poison. The question would be how did she get a hold of such a poison and what was it ?"

" Have we met before ?" Lucian asked her as his eyes bore into her

" No" She shook her head in denial and we all picked up on her lies.

" I know " Anisha announced. " I bet you never expected all of us to be here right? The poison would have worn off and you would walk scot-free before anyone would have arrived. "

" Who is she ?" Lucian demanded

" She is an old girlfriend of Lyal Aria. I saw them together once. " Anisha pointed at her. " She is the culprit."
