" Can you stop pacing up and down? It’s not even nine o’clock " I scolded Keith.

" I know. But Levy is always early or on time " Keith responded as he sipped the whiskey in his glass.

We had gone to Ralph Isla’s home after we left the KODA council. Surprisingly the house has been well maintained and Keith seemed emotional as he went through the house. Levy had been keeping the house clean since Ralph passed on. I placed the glass on the table and then lay on the couch and closed my eyes. " Wake me up when he gets here".

" Mmhh" Keith hummed in response.

I was about to fall asleep when the door of the house was opened. My eyes snapped open and I sat up as Keith moved towards the door. Levy, Everest, Lucian, and Zeeb walked in.

" I hope we are not late, " Levy said.

" Why did you drag them here? I wanted to speak to you privately, " Keith muttered.

" They are glued to me. I can’t shake them off " Levy shrugged his shoulders.

" I do go where my mate goes, " Everest shrugged.

" You knew I would come, " Lucian said to me.

" Yes. I expected it, taking into account that Levy would have been excited that Keith reached out to him. " I smiled at Lucian.

" I hope you were not followed " Keith stood by the window as he stared out checking if someone was following them.

" We only have thirty minutes before the enforcers following you wake up" Lucian chuckled.

" You are so bad " Zeeb walked to the table, picked up an empty glass poured whiskey, and chunked it down. " I am uncomfortable being here. "

" Let us get down to business. We know that Lobo Aria sent you" Lucian was the first to speak. " I still am unhappy with the death of Jaxton and Aunty Gonzalo"

" So he Boris. He mourned them since he heard the news " Keith pointed at me.

" That should be the reason why you should not trust Lobo. A man who takes away your family should never be a friend " Everest stated.

" What about Hunter? He snapped Pa’s neck and you forgave him, " Keith pointed at Levy.

" I know. But Hunter is different and he has been controlled by Lobo. Lobo used the Tabular crystal specs to control the Alpha wolf Hemming" Levy informed Keith.

" What? Hunter is an Alpha?" Keith gasped.

" Yes. " Lucian, Levy, Everest, and Zeeb all piped.

" Shit" I stood up and said " Now Lobo has the Tabular crystal. I could feel his power when he visited us at the Yakuza jail"

" We know, " Lucian spoke up.

" And how is it that you are this powerful? " Keith asked Lucian.

" The Freki powers are awakening" Lucian shrugged brushing off the question.

" You sound scary," Zeeb laughed.

" He is scary, " Keith muttered.

’" Now that I am here, what do you need ?" Levy walked to Keith and placed his hand on one shoulder.

" We are not loyal to Lobo. We need to get out of Alaska and disappear. Lobo wanted us to push Luna out of the pack and I know he has bigger plans. He is now stationed in Sitka hiding under Isamu the hybrid ’’ I spoke up. " But we are done fighting. We have lost too much and the Yakuza are scarier than you think. We would rather be home with our families"

" Good good." Lucian walked over to the couch and I stood up.

" I need your help" I whispered.

" I know you are still mourning. I am so sorry for your loss. I blame myself for not protecting Aunty. I got there too late " Lucian’s voice was filled with remorse.

" Thank you for trying, " I nodded at him.

" Leaving the country is not a solution" Levy stated. " We shall protect you right here."

"It seems you don’t know Lobo Aria well. He has spies in the pack, the KODA council, and the borders. He even knows that Hunter was in Alaska. " Keith stated.

" We know," Everest nodded.

" You do?" Keith piped.

" We are not just sitting ducks. We have been expecting him to attack anytime. " Zeeb stated.

" It would have been easier if you had informed us before the meeting. We would have made you Alpha and Lobo would have been less suspicious. " Everest smirked at me.

" We had no time. The pack had already gathered" Keith responded.

" I suggest that Boris goes to the pack tomorrow and speaks to Luna. We will have already prepared Luna and you shall be reinstated as the Pack Beta. And Keith will be your assistant. That way Lobo will be reassured of your loyalty. Then you shall let us know what he is planning, " Lucian advised.

" That is a good plan, " Levy stated." And we need to move Lyal from the jail. Hide him somewhere far away where Lobo cannot reach him "

" I have an idea. I will get Commander Abram to take care of him." Lucian stated.

" Who is Commander Abram? " Keith asked.

" Hybrid wolves who are friends of Lucian " Zeeb stated.

" The ones that Fridolf hired and they killed him? They are your friends ?"I yelled in shock

" I served with them in the army. They will take Lyal away and then come back to Alaska. We need them if we have to survive this war" Lucian announced.

" War? " I piped.

" Lobo is ready to bring war to us. He does not know how much evil and greed Isamu carries. " Everest spoke up.

" Many of the shifters will be caught in the crossfire. That is why he chose Sitka, " Zeeb nodded.

" If we work together, we can maintain peace in the Golden Shifter pack. " Levy agreed.

" I know that Lobo wants me and Conri. We shall leave for Siktak and draw him away from Chugach. What you need to do is weed out all the moles in the pack. Anyone loyal to Lobo or offering intel to Lobo should be taken out"

" That is our mission. " Keith nodded.

" Work with Hunter, Everest, and Levy" Lucian commanded. " Zeeb will provide all the financial support you need.

" Thank you, Lucian, " I responded.

" Oh, I have all your documents, gold, and cash," Lucian informed me.

" Oh," I rubbed my neck in embarrassment.

" Well, I can see you never trusted Lobo. Hence you kept the documents to protect yourself.

" Yes of course " I nodded at him.

" We need to go," Zeeb stood up" Time is up and we need to get out of here now."

" Let us all work as discussed. " Lucian nodded at me before they all left.

" That went well. Now you know where your money is, " Keith chuckled.

" That is the least of my worries. We need to ensure Lobo does not suspect us" We spent hours planning and then went to bed late at night.

Early the next day, we arrived at the pack offices. Much to our surprise Hunter and Tala had already arrived.

" You are early, " Hunter retorted.

" Is Luna already here?" Keith asked.

" She is on her way " Tala stated and I nodded as I sat by the visitor’s area and waited.

Once Luna arrived, we went into her office and sat down for a chat.

" Lucian already briefed me on the plan. I must say I don’t like it but we have no option" Luna stated.

" I suggest you get Boris and Keith an office here," Hunter suggested.

" That will be ideal," Tala added.

" Fine," Luna agreed.

I stood up to leave and then Luna raised her hand in a gesture that had me halting " Your wife and son were ashes are still at the morgue. Lucian was preserved until you came back. "

My body froze and I felt the pang of pain cut through my heart I nodded at her and left the office.

" We need to call Lobo, " Keith whispered. " We have taken too long before we have given him a brief"

" Okay," I said as I dialed Lobo’s number and he answered on the first ring.

" Alpha," I said.

" So are you going to tell me that you lost to Luna ?" Lobo growled. His statement made me realize that we were surrounded by too many traitors.

" I did but I have been appointed as the pack Beta and Keith will assist me" I quickly interjected.

" That is good news. So I heard Hunter is back?" Lobo seethed.

" Yes. And now everyone knows he is an Alpha " I spoke up hoping to annoy Lobo.

He growled and disconnected the call immediately.

" You just had to bait him," Keith chuckled.

" I am tired Keith. I lost my family and Lobo killed my wife" I whispered.

" That is one unforgivable act. I know you are holding back but it’s not time to act up. Let us lay low until Lucian and Conri handle him. "

" What about Isamu?" Keith muttered through gritted teeth. " He shot me without a care and if gets more power, none of the shifters will be safe."

" That man is a menace" I growled. " Lobo has no idea how evil Isamu is. "

" Come on. It’s time to lay to rest your wife and son. " Keith patted my back as we got into the car.

" In this lifetime, I failed to protect them. I hope the moon gods will be kind to me in the next lifetime and give me the wisdom to protect Ember and Jaxton."
