"What makes you think that I would risk going to the Freki mansion" I walked over to my desk and sat down. I filled my face with a bored look and raised one eyebrow.

"Please leave the room, Sasha. I want to speak to Hunter in private, "Zineb stated.

Sasha Freki seemed surprised, but she complied and left the office.

Once the door closed, Zineb moved closer and said, "You owe me, Hunter"

"What the fuck are you saying? " I chuckled.

Zineb leaned down and said, "Do you know which one of us in the Aria family is the best tracker? I am. I smelt your scent amongst Lucian and Conri when Anisha was saved. And I know for a fact whatever saved Anisha is not human. "

"Zineb, I was at home sleeping. If Lucian and Conri fooled you, then I am not to blame. You can confirm from my maid, Elanor," I smirked.

"Oh, Hunter, how long will you keep this up? Lobo will find out sooner or later," Zineb retorted.

"So you came to me knowing you would blackmail me about such nonsense?" I laughed and leaned back in the chair.

Zineb blinked once, twice, and then she turned around. " I am desperate Hunter"

"That is what you would have said before you resorted to your silly and sneaky games. I am not the kind to fall into your trap. You better be honest with me if you need my help," I informed her.

She nodded and said, "I rarely get people who need me to be straightforward. They all want to play games."

"What time do you need me to take you there?" I asked her.

"Tomorrow morning, " She said and then walked to the door and added, " I will come to the pack office"

"You better lose Sasha Freki tomorrow. I will not allow her to accompany us and cause trouble. "I informed her.

"Fine," she muttered through gritted teeth and left my office.

Once she was gone, I grinned to myself, knowing that I would get the chance to see Tala. Once I got to the Freki mansion, I would get Lucian to summon her to come over.

I left the pack office and went home. On arrival, the wolves were happy as I petted them and Elanor laughed as she opened the main door to usher me in.

"They can always sense your mood. Today, you seem happy and relaxed. " She observed.

"Am I " I raised an eyebrow and a small smile played on my lips.

"You are hopeless, Hunter. Who is she?" Elanor shook her head.

"What? No way. I am just in a good mood," I defended myself.

"You can fool everyone but me. I know for a fact that it’s a woman" Elanor snickered and left the kitchen after serving me food.

I mulled over her words as I ate my dinner. The stir of the wolves alerted me, and I knew that Tizheruk was passing by. I bolted from the house and followed the trail to the path that he took to the Freki Mansion.

I stood waiting, but he never appeared, and wondered if I was wrong. I turned around to leave and heard, " You have a tail. I would say an enforcer. He is following you"

The words were pushed in my mind and I turned back in surprise to search for the Tizheruk. How powerful was he to be able to penetrate my mind?

"Because you are an Alpha, " He responded through the mind link. My jaw dropped, and I shook my head in disbelief. I pretended that I was just taking a walk and walked back home. No wonder Conri survived in the mountains. He had such a powerful serpent protecting him.

When I got home, It was almost one am. I took a shower, got into bed, and fell asleep.

Late afternoon the next day, Zineb arrived at the park office alone. We left for the Freki Mansion an hour later. On arrival, we found only Elder Zaya in the living room.

"Who is this?" Elder Zaya demanded as we stood there awkwardly. " And why are you here, Hunter? "

In seconds, Luke appeared in the living room and then his steps faltered as he stared at Zineb. "Come here and greet your Ma" Zineb smiled at him.

Luke hesitated for a second and then rushed to Zineb and hugged her. Elder Zaya’s eyes widened in surprise and she seemed shocked that Zineb had shamelessly come over.

Lucian and Conri appeared in the doorway, and then Lucian cursed.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He yelled.

"Lower your voice, "Elder Zaya scolded Lucian, and I saw Conri hold Lucian’s arm to stop him. "You will scare Luke. "

Luke was still in Zineb’s embrace when he looked up and said, "Ma, are you here to see me ?"

"Yes" Zineb nodded, and we watched her swallow hard and suppress her tears.

"Come, let me show you my room. " Luke pulled her along and Zineb allowed him until they disappeared in the corridors.

"What is going on? " Lucian walked over and whispered.

"Get Tala to come," I whispered back.

Conri smiled, and then I watched as Lucian picked up the phone and disappeared upstairs. Conri sat down while I stood by the window and looked outside in the Freki mansion’s parking lot.

"You seem deep in thought," Elder Zaya spoke up.

I turned to her and nodded.

"I suppose you will not share what is bothering you," Elder Zaya pressed on.

"Oh Godmother, leave the man alone. The person that he is anxiously waiting for is on her way, I presume, "Conri chuckled.

"Why did you bring her here? " Elder Zaya was on a roll.

"She wanted to see her son, "I responded.

"Is she mental?" Elder Zaya demanded.

"She is smart. The only way to keep a wolf-like Luke away from Lobo is to raise him at the Freki Mansion," I spoke.

"Your Alpha is crazy and mental. "Elder Zaya snickered, and I remained mute at her words.

I moved from the window and walked over to Conri. " Did you know that he is so powerful that he can penetrate minds and even speak?’ I was referring to Tizheruk.

"He is going to get me into trouble one of these fine days," Conri retorted.

"I am awed by his power," I whispered and went back to the window as if nothing had been spoken.

Elder Zaya seemed to pick on what I had said and threatened, "You better keep your mouth shut"

" Oh, I know how to do that, or else this place would be crawling with Lobo Aria," I retorted.

At that moment, Lucian walked down the stairs and said, "She is on her way. But Anisha and Zeeb are in her company. I doubt you will have it easy when they arrive. Especially Zeeb. "

I nodded and felt anxious and giddy. I wanted to see Tala without restrictions or having someone watching us. And the best place would be the Freki Mansion. Luke came back dragging Zineb, whose eyes looked like she had been crying, and said "Pa Lucian and Pa Conri, can Ma stay for dinner? "

"Of course. "Elder Zaya jumped in and said.

"Come on. Let us prepare dinner" Conri stood up and dragged Lucian along.

I did not utter a word and then she added, "What is Lobo using to suppress your powers?"

How could I tell that he had found specks of the Tabular crystal and injected them into my blood? How could I tell her that Lobo had my family in his hands and I could not do a damn thing? How could I tell her that Lobo threatened to kill Elanor?

I shook my head to indicate I was not going to utter a word. I would rather die than endanger the people whom I was protecting since I became the pack enforcer.

"Fine. Dont tell me. But just know that your mate will be affected if you let Lobo Aria continue to control you. "Elder Zaya stood up and walked out of the garden. I closed my eyes to will my body to calm down as the words that she uttered sunk in.

I leaned back in the chair and relaxed my head on the chair as I felt the peace that came from the garden. Twenty minutes later, I scented Tala before I saw her. I stood up and turned around and there she stood, gorgeous and tall.

"Hi," She waved her hand at me.

I was helpless as I rushed over, embraced her into my arms, and whispered back, "You came!!"
