Chapter 873: Chapter 873: Strange Hotel

"Little girl, find somewhere else to stay, Muyuan District doesn’t take guests."

The blind old man sitting at the inn’s entrance shook his head and said to Tao Qingqing.

Anyone else might have just left, but Tao Qingqing had been with Wen Wen for so long that her skin was thick enough. She directly handed him a few bills, waiting for him to give her a room.

Had it not been for the old man being blind, Tao Qingqing would have hypnotized him already.

The old man sighed, then rummaged through a small pouch in front of him for a key, only taking one bill and handing the rest along with some change back to Tao Qingqing.

Tao Qingqing counted and found that the old man charged her the same as the normal inn price. She had no idea how he did it.

Walking into the inn, although there was a gloomy aura, it was unexpectedly clean, as if regularly tidied, yet there was only the old man with no other staff in sight.

After finding her room, Tao Qingqing checked around, then lay on the bed using the bats she had released to observe the people with unusual expressions she had noticed in the market earlier.

Everything was normal during the day, but by dusk, Tao Qingqing noticed several men emerged from their homes carrying butcher knives and axes, their expressions slightly sinister.

They seemed to know where Tao Qingqing was, walking directly in this direction without taking any detours.

Seeing their menacing demeanor, it was clear they had no good intent towards Tao Qingqing.

Perhaps ordinary people who had entered here for the night just disappeared this way.

At this moment, two others were searching for Tao Qingqing, specifically the two security guards at the gate of Muyuan District. They, like everyone else in Muyuan District, had apathetic expressions, but their duty was to prevent outsiders from staying here.

The two groups met at the inn’s entrance, but no conflict occurred; instead, they silently looked at the inn in tacit understanding.

As the sun was halfway gone over the horizon, both groups tacitly moved away from the inn, ultimately having nothing happen.

Tao Qingqing stood at the window, staring at the disappearing sun. She knew that once night fell, something bad would happen.

The reason for those two groups disappearing probably had to do with the night here and an issue with the inn itself, as only the inn had traces of negative energy in the entire Muyuan District.

Night finally descended, stars visible in the sky, the entire Muyuan District unnaturally silent.

Then the guest room phone by the bed rang suddenly, startling Tao Qingqing, who only calmed down after taking a deep breath.

It wasn’t that the call was unexpected, but the ringtone was the same she had put on at the market earlier...

’Jinglei this celestial cultivation, heaven collapsed earth fissured Purple Gold Hammer...’

Tao Qingqing rolled her eyes. This kind of phone lacked the ability to change ringtones, so this sound wasn’t accidental but something scheming. Tao Qingqing picked up the phone and put it on speaker.

"Zzz, zzz... You shouldn’t exist in this world, impolite little **, ****..."

Through the phone came the sound of static and venomous curses, along with a faintly poignant melody that sent chills down one’s spine.

As if an invisible hand emerged, wanting to grasp Tao Qingqing’s heart and cause emotional collapse, yet for a vampire, it was less frightening than the song earlier.

The voice inside felt insulted by Tao Qingqing’s lack of response, rising in pitch, as a pale hand with sharp black claws stretched out from the phone, scratching quickly.

If Tao Qingqing held the phone to her ear, she would have been caught, but fortunately, she used the speaker.

Not grabbing anyone, the voice grew even more enraged, attempting to pull its entire body from the phone to personally punish Tao Qingqing.

It was a woman with thick black hair, dressed in a blood-red garment, with a face full of tiny holes, looking at which made one’s skin crawl.

But when she was halfway out, Tao Qingqing unplugged the phone line.

This woman’s half-body was instantly severed; bewildered, she glanced behind before revealing a look of fear.

Her arms flailed rapidly, crawling around the room like a lizard, leaving black blood in every corner.

Then her aura weakened and with a crunch, she died completely.

Tao Qingqing pursed her lips; the first enemy was so easily resolved.

However, what cut her body wasn’t the phone line but Tao Qingqing’s own strength blocking the phone’s entrance. If ordinary people encountered a ghost like Tao Qingqing, this solution would most likely lead to certain death.

Yet this ghost’s appearance was a signal, a sign that the inn had started to become dangerous.

Thick negative energy filled the entire inn, which wasn’t as empty as it had been during the day. Tao Qingqing could sense that besides herself, there were at least a dozen other guests.

As for whether these guests were human... Tao Qingqing would have to see for herself to know.

She opened the door and walked out, seeing a young woman in an apron carefully cleaning the hallway floor, as if polishing a mirror.

As Tao Qingqing passed by, the young woman lifted her head to reveal a horrific rotting face, lips half gone, eyes hanging one above the other on either side of her nose.

However, Tao Qingqing paid no attention to the woman because she was merely a minor character without showing any aggression towards her.

She walked around the inn, encountering several similar cleaners, either missing limbs or looking horrifying, though they were all too weak to catch her interest.

Until Tao Qingqing reached the first floor, where she saw an oddly looking man at the toilet entrance, sensing a subtle threat from him.

The man’s hair was short, but his face and front teeth were very long, twice the length of a normal human skull. His alarming appearance merely indicated his oddity, while what truly puzzled Tao Qingqing was this man standing at the toilet entrance, staring and swallowing.

These inns were built long ago, so only the first floor had public restrooms, separate for men and women.

When the man saw Tao Qingqing, he spoke, "My name is Oudenite, what do you think is the most delicious thing in the event?"

Tao Qingqing imagined and replied, "Blood!"

The man shook his head, pointing to the restroom, "No, it’s the things here."
