Chapter 871: Chapter 871 The Giants Above the Clouds
As the music started, everyone in the market glared angrily at Tao Qingqing.
Their indignation was probably akin to the time with Wen Wen; however, they were just ordinary people, lacking the capacity to act like Wen Wen did.
Moreover, if they had resorted to violence, Tao Qingqing would have been delighted.
After about five minutes of tense atmosphere, Tao Qingqing boredomly turned off her phone and shook her head as she walked out of the market.
No one got physical, nor did anyone attempt to stop her; some acted as if she didn’t exist, while some looked at her as if she were already dead.
Those with suspicious glances were marked by Tao Qingqing, with bats tasked to follow them; whether there’s any issue, it would be clearer by the evening.
Later, Tao Qingqing searched the town and finally found a somewhat rundown inn in a secluded place.
While the inn looked old, its size was in no way inferior to Baojian Hotel, which led to wonder how such a place operated in a non-residential district.
Everything in the district appeared normal, except for some very covert negative energies around the inn; thus Tao Qingqing believed she could discover something there.
An old blind man sat at the entrance, and upon seeing him, Tao Qingqing displayed a moment of bewilderment.
Despite being blind, the old man’s expression didn’t seem as stiff as others, hinting that there might be something fishy here.
Thus, Tao Qingqing ventured into the inn despite its rule of no overnight guests, focusing on her goal instead.
...
Wen Wen had been idling in Rabbit Village for several days, closely studying its unique barrier, and leveraging his rune studies to reinforce it, garnering fondness from the rabbits.
Had Wen Wen’s demeanor been less eerie, he would have found love here already.
Based on his observations, several Rabbit Girls here often displayed excitement, liked to hop around, occasionally dug holes and stomped their feet, even actively interacted with Wen Wen.
This behavior signified rabbits entering a certain special phase...
The reinforcement process also deepened Wen Wen’s comprehension of rune studies, making it mutually beneficial.
Most wounded individuals had left Rabbit Village, and according to updates from the Hunter Association, external conditions had stabilized, with the undead’s threats entirely resolved.
The procedure’s next step was restoring regular life and production in affected areas.
The issue was, compared to before, this time too many had died.
Even recalling all who escaped wouldn’t be enough to reinvigorate the population here.
However, seeing Sun Shanxing and Wang Duobao’s confidence, they seemingly had a way to solve the population problem, perhaps linked to the ’big scene’ they mentioned mysteriously previously.
At noon, Wen Wen had just finished his business and exited the restroom, noticing the Demon Hunters mobilized, Sun Shanxing and Wang Duobao also emerged from the command office, piquing Wen Wen’s curiosity to join them.
Sun Shanxing was aware of Wen Wen’s consistent presence; thus, upon seeing him, he wasn’t surprised and said:
"Upcoming things are Association confidentials, it’s better for you not to get involved."
"What if I particularly want to watch?" Wen Wen asked curiously.
This should be the grand event Wu Liugen mentioned, but since Wu Liugen already knew, and Wang Duobao notified him beforehand, Wen Wen figured it wouldn’t be hard to witness.
"Then please ensure you don’t disclose the sight to others." Sun Shanxing spoke accommodatingly.
Wen Wen nodded, "Of course, I won’t speak of it."
"Alright, then please accompany us closely without wandering too far."
Sun Shanxing agreed, leading the group in a particular direction.
Wen Wen initially thought it was Hunter Association confidential, surprised by Sun Shanxing’s easy consent.
If possible, Sun Shanxing preferred not exposing the sight to Wen Wen.
The issue was its commotion was vast, even Wen Wen calmly staying in the village would detect abnormalities, so transparency seemed better.
Wen Wen followed Sun Shanxing’s group towards the southeast of Rabbit Village, Wu Liugen and high-ranking Demon Hunters also joined, traveling for about ten minutes before halting.
This area should have been a broad, pristine grassland, yet piles of mountain-sized corpses filled the space, seemingly encased by a rune array preventing decomposition.
Sun Shanxing checked the time and sat at a clean spot waiting for something to happen.
Wang Duobao leaned to Wen Wen’s ear, "These are all the bodies we could locate around Qing Ridge Plateau, with numerous being human and monster bodies transported from outside."
"What are these corpses for, a blood sacrifice?" Wen Wen’s brows furrowed, he thought the Hunter Association wouldn’t conduct such things.
Wang Duobao paused for two seconds, "Yes and no, I’m unsure how to act; the purpose will be clear once you see it."
Wen Wen patiently waited for about half an hour, noticing spatial anomalies ahead resembling a mirage, displaying illusory hues in the sky.
These colors gradually assembled into a human shape, before a gigantic bald, genderless ’human’ manifested before Wen Wen and the group.
Wen Wen’s eyes widened, his mask’s black and white pattern constantly shifting, startled indeed.
The being was a towering one-thousand-meter giant, half its body mingling with the clouds above!
The giant’s slightly bowed body barely revealed a colossal face with mechanical features, presenting a breathtaking scene.
Not only its face harbored mechanical structures, many of the giant’s parts bore similar designs, challenging the assessment of whether it was mechanical or organic.
Moreover, the giant emitted overwhelming energy akin to a black hole capturing Wen Wen’s focus.
"Star Realm... Spiritual Realm God? No, incorrect, this thing..."
Wen Wen’s brows furrowed, no wonder Sun Shanxing was willing to guide him here; such commotion was evident even without being led here.
Suddenly, the immense ’human’ bowed its body, chest opening wide, immense suction force devouring all the corpses on the ground.
After the ground turned barren of corpses, the gigantic ’human’ seemed satiated, sitting cross-legged, gazing dumbly into the distance.
Oddly, despite its massive size causing radical changes with each move, the surroundings remained calm and unaffected.
After sitting, the human ceased all activity, eventually opening all ten toenails.
Then...
Ten humans emerged from its toes!
