Chapter 867: Snow Cabin
Chapter 867: Chapter 867: Snow Cabin
The night on the plateau was very cold.
Bone-chilling cold.
A cold that left no hope in sight, freezing through to the core.
On a snow-covered hillside, there was a small wind-leaking house with a dying fire inside, around which several people sat to keep warm.
This place was peculiar, unusually cold, so much so that not even the Undead wanted to come.
So many people hid here, hoping to survive this harsh period by relying on the unique environment.
But this hillside had an owner, a fat man in a black coat and white inner shirt.
Initially, this fat man allowed everyone to stay in the broken house, as long as they shared some of the firewood they collected each day to keep warm.
Later, this fat man demanded half of all the firewood, and the people didn’t mind; the world outside was chaotic, and survival was all they sought.
Then the fat man decided to distribute all the collected firewood himself, giving half of what he used to the refugees.
The refugees were resentful but powerless to resist; at least they still had a complete roof to shelter them from the elements.
But a few days later, the fat man even tore down the windows of the broken house, and the refugees finally erupted in anger and began to resist.
Yet the fat man’s strength was unmatched by the refugees, so now there were only four of them left, huddled together struggling to survive.
The remaining firewood was barely enough to keep them alive through the cold nights, their last glimmer of hope.
But a terrifying event, nonetheless, unfolded: corpses that had previously died nearby began to disappear one by one.
And from the new house next door came a horrifying sound of chewing.
But the four remaining people, who didn’t dare to join the rebellion when there were more people, now had even less courage to do so.
Boom!
A loud explosion resounded, the new house next door burst open, and the fat man in the black coat quickly ran towards the broken house.
As long as he took hostages, there was still a chance to escape!
Then a black sphere hit the back of his head, his skin began to darken rapidly, and he collapsed weakly to the ground.
The people poked their heads out and saw that the fat man in the black coat was not human but a massive deformed monster!
It showed compassion, allowing people to hide from the Undead here, only to toy with these refugees.
The Black Blood Princess emerged from behind, caressing the sphere in her hand.
The sphere was birthed from her body, but it was useless to Wen Wen, so after using it, she handed it to the Black Blood Princess.
She looked at the four shivering people inside the house with a disdainful expression.
These four were very ’smart,’ all the others died, only they survived because they didn’t dare to resist.
But the Black Blood Princess loathed such intelligence, so she decided that they should die along with their original companions.
Suddenly, the sound of rattling chains echoed, the veins on the Black Blood Princess’ skin bulged, but moments later her emotions calmed, she walked over to the four and said coldly:
"Follow me, I’ll lead you out, but if you can’t keep up with me, I won’t care for you."
She planned to take some difficult paths and speed up to give these people a hard time.
And this idea, the chain from the Sanctuary didn’t stop.
What happened on this hillside was also happening in other parts of the Qing Ridge Plateau.
After solving the Wen Li issue, Wen Wen took Illiyat back, then ordered other monsters to continue rescuing people; the Qing Ridge Plateau suffered heavy losses, saving even one more would be a good thing.
After the inquiry, Wen Wen walked through the devastated battlefield, letting out a long sigh.
All around were broken limbs, belonging both to Demon Hunters and to monsters.
The center of this battle was like a giant meat grinder, and except for a few powerful Demon Hunters, no one could guarantee they’d emerge unscathed.
Gu Panxi’s injuries looked severe, the kind of wounds that would mean disfigurement and disability for others, but she would recover completely in time.
However, ’Fearful Butterfly’ wasn’t so lucky; she lost an arm completely, and while a prosthetic might be fitted later, it would never be as convenient as a natural arm.
It wasn’t just those two; many other people suffered terribly, and the most unfortunate had already left this world forever.
After watching for a while, Wen Wen found Sun Shanxing.
The Heavenly Pillar Peak was not suitable for recovering from injuries, so Wen Wen suggested all severely injured Demon Hunters be transferred to Rabbit Village to recuperate.
The Hunter Association’s headquarters in the Qing Ridge Plateau was also temporarily relocated to Rabbit Village.
Among the devastated Qing Ridge Plateau, only Rabbit Village remained intact, making it the most suitable place.
Moreover, Rabbit Village helped the Hunter Association greatly this time, which would solidify its position on the Qing Ridge Plateau, allowing Wen Wen to run the Rabbit Massage Parlor in the Sanctuary for a long time.
...
Jack lay on the ground, gasping heavily; now he only had one arm left, and there was a huge cavity in his chest and abdomen.
The punch Wen Li threw at him didn’t hit directly, but the mere aftermath of the power left him disabled.
Previously, with Wen Li alive, Jack dared not make a sound; now that it was over, he desired rescue.
He began to fully activate his ability, trying to restore his presence, and kept shouting loudly.
As long as someone heard him, he could be saved!
He was just a mercenary, and though he had interfered with the Hunter Association’s activities before, he was not their mortal enemy, so the Hunter Association wouldn’t let him die.
But he quickly realized that no matter how he called out, no one noticed him, some even stepped right over him!
When a person’s presence becomes too low, nothing they do attracts attention from others.
So, out of rage, he directly broke that person’s leg.
But that person just looked down in terror, then crawled and ran away, thinking they had seen a ghost.
After a while, the Demon Hunters surrounded the area, first attacking it in a blanket manner, injuring Jack further, and then enclosing the area with a barrier to keep people away.
There were plenty of problematic spots near Heavenly Pillar Mountain; they didn’t need to waste time on this one, they’d come back to remove the danger once everything ended.
All the while, Jack lay straight in the middle, unnoticed.
Jack shouted in furious anger, but no one could see him at first, and now with the barrier, even fewer noticed him.
