Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 81 Gallier

Chapter 81: Chapter 81 Gallier

Unfortunately, he couldn’t control the house itself; otherwise, he would have moved it away as soon as Wen Wen and the other two had come.

He was lucky before, being out and about dealing with some matters when the Hunter came knocking. Realizing something was wrong, he first used puppets to hold off Wen Wen’s group while he hurried back to Furong River City.

He could sense that all the puppets he had left in that inn had been destroyed. Without his puppets to lead the way, he doubted his chances of returning to that house.

So he had to make do with this place for now.

Luckily, this abandoned building also housed many people whose disappearance wouldn’t alert the Hunter Association. He really should thank those responsible for these unfinished buildings; it was they who had created the breeding ground for monsters like him to grow stronger.

Xu Hai’s first priority was to settle down here before finding his next victim. Most of his accumulated puppets had been destroyed, so he needed to gather more. He planned to turn this unfinished building into his puppet headquarters.

Finding an empty room to store all his possessions, he began to wander the vast building in search of appropriate victims.

Nearly a hundred people lived in the entire building. Converting them all would take his power to the next level.

As he wandered, he set his sights on a seven- or eight-year-old girl, exquisitely lovely, living in a room without even a door with a middle-aged man paralyzed in bed.

The man’s legs had been severed, leaving him bedridden on a wooden plank bed, dependent on the little girl for his care.

He had been one of the builders of the unfinished building; due to issues with the project, he had amassed a considerable debt. His legs had been cut off by debt collectors; his wife had run away, forcing him to live in such a place with his daughter.

Seeing the little girl, Xu Hai’s eyes lit up. He had never created a puppet from a little girl before, or rather, he had never made one from a girl of this age.

He entered the room, tilting his head as he assessed the girl, pondering what features to add to this puppet...

No, there was no need to add combat abilities; she only needed to be a delicate doll.

After today, Xu Hai would add another trophy to his collection.

Xu Hai’s gaze grew more intense by the moment, frightening the little girl to take a couple of steps backward.

The girl’s father propped himself up on his elbows and said to Xu Hai, "Sir, what do you intend to do? You’re scaring my child."

Xu Hai didn’t even turn his head; he simply extended a finger toward the man. His finger suddenly lengthened, piercing directly through the man’s heart, blood poured out profusely.

"I have no use for a crippled man," Xu Hai said coldly. A man with no legs was of no use as a puppet, so he was worthless to him.

"Little one, come with me, I can give you the life you desire," Xu Hai said, his face breaking into a hypocritical smile, his eyes not looking at the girl as if she were a human.

But as if she were meat on a chopping board!

Her father was killed, and now a perverted creep had set his sights on her. The little girl covered her mouth, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Life had already been so unfair to her; why did she have to endure even more tragic experiences!

Xu Hai’s face bore a frenzied smile; he didn’t care what the girl thought. After all, she would be obedient to him after today; humans could never be as perfect as his puppets.

Suddenly, he stopped, his expression transformed, cold sweat covering his forehead.

"They’ve followed me here! They’ve actually followed me!"

"How could this be? I left so quickly... could there be a superpower user among them who excels at tracking?"

"No good, I have to leave this place quickly, and leave Furong River City for good, never to return!"

Xu Hai turned and fled, no longer caring about what to do with the little girl. Carrying a burden while trying to escape was tantamount to seeking death.

He dashed down two flights of stairs then suddenly stopped, found a corner to hide, and curled his lips into a smirk.

"Maybe, I should watch a show before I go..."

...

Upon entering the unfinished building, Xu Hai’s scent became increasingly clear, and Wen Wen followed the trail through the building in search of him.

When he reached the fifth floor, he twitched his nose slightly, detecting the scent of blood!

Wen Wen no longer moved at a leisurely pace; his body twisted into an afterimage as he swiftly appeared in the room where the little girl was.

A quick scan was all it took for him to understand what had happened.

"Where is he, where did he run off to?"

The little girl was curled up in a corner, her eyes vacant, as if she had lost all hope in everything.

"What an asshole... Attacking someone so young, that’s a death penalty offense!"

After a brief pause, Wen Wen chased after a certain direction. Asking questions was a mere habit for him; within the span of a sentence, he had already confirmed the direction Xu Hai had fled.

Now deep into the night and with the unfinished building lacking water and electricity, it was pitch black, resembling a scene straight out of a horror movie. But to Wen Wen, it might as well have been broad daylight.

He jogged a few steps, then suddenly halted and threw his head back sharply.

At the same time, a claw with sharp, black nails swiped just above Wen Wen’s forehead!

If he hadn’t leaned back just then, his brains could have been scraped out by that claw!

Wen Wen narrowed his eyes, preparing a combat stance. In front of him stood a gaunt man wearing a red-collared black suit. The man’s complexion was pale, his hair slicked back, glistening with an excessive amount of hair gel.

Probably even insects wouldn’t be able to take off if they landed on it...

If this had been a normal building, the man’s entrance might have come with flashing light effects, but unfortunately, there were no lights here. Instead, he had been hiding on the beam, waiting for Wen Wen to pass underneath before leaping down to launch a surprise attack.

"You’re quite lucky to have dodged my attack. For a low-level Blood Clan member who was recently turned, you’re impressive. No wonder you could cause that guy some trouble," said the man as he adjusted his collar, speaking in an affected tone.

This type of tone might be described as "elegant" by certain people in the Golden Eagle District, but in an age where everyone speaks the Common Language, it was nothing more than an unpleasant accent.

"Who’s that guy you’re talking about... I’ve got a myriad of troubles, who knows what you’re referring to," Wen Wen said, stepping back two paces, muscles tight as he watched the man.

Xu Hai’s scent was still nearby, he hadn’t fled; so Wen Wen wasn’t in a hurry to deal with this guy. He had to prioritize safety, not wanting a single mistake to lead to being turned into a Puppet by Xu Hai.

"My name is Gallier, a vampire assassin from a venerable family in the Golden Eagle District. I can’t reveal my employer’s information, and you don’t need to know," said Gallier, toying with his fingers, red light flickering in his eyes, speaking with condescension.

"Nameless little Blood Clan, I command you in the authority of your bloodline elders, stand still and do not resist. Let me kill you obediently."

Wen Wen paused for a moment before responding, "Who are you even? Recently I keep running into idiots. Just because you tell me not to resist, I should just comply?"

He felt that this vampire’s head was probably broken and needed an RPG for adjustment.
