Chapter 751: Chapter 741: Salted Fish Times
Buzz, buzz, buzz...
Wen Wen flew out a distance of ten kilometers in one breath before stopping, and his five gear-like... angel wings finally came to rest.
"Although they don’t look great, flying with them actually feels pretty awesome."
The energy connecting the wings retracted back into his body, causing the wings to disappear as well.
The awkwardly crooked five wings looked extremely uncomfortable, causing the Fallen Angel’s cool factor to plummet to rock bottom.
Luckily these wings were on the body of the Evil Light Angel and not Wen Wen’s own.
After stopping, Wen Wen used various methods to probe his surroundings, making sure no one was following him before slipping into a restroom in a nearby mall and then entering the Sanctuary.
Once inside the Sanctuary, Wen Wen sat down on the ground with a sigh, relaxing his tense nerves.
Although there hadn’t been a single battle this time, it was the most heart-pounding adventure Wen Wen had experienced recently.
No matter how thorough the preparation and investigation, facing a lunatic capable of killing him in seconds was too dangerous.
But as the tension faded, Wen Wen felt a deep sense of pleasure and chuckled to himself.
He hadn’t experienced this kind of thrill in a long time, especially the feeling when Maya Mi emitted her killing intent, which was something he couldn’t experience in his calm daily life.
It reminded Wen Wen of the sensation he felt when he first captured Tao Qingqing.
After enjoying the aftermath, Wen Wen stood up and activated his Calamity Prison Supervisor state, beginning a full-scale examination of himself.
After all, Maya Mi was a Catastrophe Level Fallen Angel, Wen Wen didn’t believe she wouldn’t have meddled with him in some way; leaving behind any hidden dangers would be troubling.
A cursory inspection revealed energy hidden in four places—his brain, heart, throat, and blood.
Each of the four energy signatures was concealed differently and had varied effects. If Wen Wen were just an ordinary Fallen Angel, he might have discovered at most one or two such setups and certainly would have been at someone else’s mercy.
Then, Wen Wen found the Evil Light Angel, who was in his cell, fiddling with his wings.
Suddenly having four more wings, he was indeed happy. However, why did they have to grow out oddly? No matter how he adjusted them, they just didn’t look right; for an OCD Angel, this was an absolute disaster.
Wen Wen suddenly appeared in the Evil Light Angel’s cell, placed his hand on his forehead, and the power of the Calamity Prison Supervisor flowed through his body, carefully examining him.
After finishing the checkup, Wen Wen sighed, "As expected, the greatest trap is this bestowed Strength."
"While this gift significantly increased the Evil Light Angel’s Strength, it also placed his life in the hands of Maya Mi."
"It’s nothing but poison coated in thick sugar. Once Maya Mi is done using the Evil Light Angel, she can reclaim the energy."
"However... heh heh."
Wen Wen tapped his chin with his finger, and then a black, semi-transparent barrier rose up around the Evil Light Angel’s cell.
This was one of the Sanctuary’s unique cell setups, capable of isolating the inside of the cell from the outside world.
"Even if Maya Mi is formidable, her powers should be unable to penetrate the Sanctuary, but I still need to take extra precautions, heh heh heh..."
...
After leaving the Sanctuary, Wen Wen started laying around in the Central Tower like a lazy salted fish, doing the bare minimum and only symbolically participating in tasks the Association couldn’t assign to prepare for the upcoming trouble.
Even Wu Liugen, who was in recovery, was more industrious than Wen Wen. Though he couldn’t leave the place, he still wore his monk’s robe, fiddled with his rosary beads, and struck his wooden fish, reciting sutras and blessing Xihong City.
However, his blessings only lasted a day. To make his own laziness less conspicuous, Wen Wen dragged Wu Liugen into joining him and Tao Qingqing to play "Monster Fight"...
But Wen Wen always suspected that Wu Liugen was cheating because he conspired with Tao Qingqing to pretend to strip Wu Liugen of his monk’s robe in a bet, yet the game still ended in a draw.
Later, Sifumo, who had been in ambush at Cowardice Prison, also finished his task and returned to the tower to await orders, turning their games into four-player "Monster Fight."
The truth was, Wen Wen had no choice but to be so idle because most Demon Hunters were just as free as they were, with not much to do.
After listening to Wen Wen’s advice, Maya Mi stopped all her mischief-making over the past few days and was just waiting to recover fully to hit that bunch of Insects hard.
So all of Xihong City was peaceful, and the biggest task for the Demon Hunters every day was to catch the occasional Monster wandering the streets.
Even the Vice President of Heavenly Pillar couldn’t bring himself to bother the card-playing idlers like Wen Wen with low-level creatures like Scavenging Demons.
After a happy day of lazy fun, Wen Wen would go back to his room to follow the private Judgement videos.
Those videos were posted with incredible stability, one every day, much more diligently than the proverbial uploaders on certain video websites.
Odd-numbered days featured capturing criminals, reading out the charges, and conducting votes.
Even-numbered days were for executions!
Before the eyes of all in the region, gory executions unfolded.
At first, viewers of the videos couldn’t bear to watch.
But after a few episodes, those who couldn’t stomach it stopped paying attention, and the tone of the comments changed—they became fanatic and paranoid, completely believing in what was shown in the videos, thinking they were part of carrying out justice.
Some even left messages under the videos, criticizing things they disliked, hoping the video creator would stand up for them and execute justice on their behalf.
The more Wen Wen watched, the more inappropriate he found it. The self-titled "Judicator" behind the videos seemed to be guiding the audience towards some goal.
On the surface, as time passed, fewer and fewer people watched these videos, and their influence seemed to wane, with seemingly not many people from the outside world tuning in.
But in Wen Wen’s view, this "Judicator" was actually filtering the audience, keeping only those who could be easily incited and deceived.
The reason Wen Wen was still there, of course, was that his comments on the video were equally extreme...
It was just a disguise for Wen Wen to stay there; it surely didn’t reflect his true nature.
Um... that should be the case.
The videos weren’t very long, so Wen Wen didn’t spend all night on them.
When the night was quiet, Wen Wen would control the White Fog to stealthily slip away from the tower and engage in some special work.
The White Fog he dispatched was very similar in shape to the Black Mist and even incorporated some feminine features with True Order Level strength.
The mission of this White Fog was to lure the cluster of Black Mist surrounding Maya Mi!
