Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 750 - 740: Strength Gift

Chapter 750: Chapter 740: Strength Gift

Wen Wen, of course, was unaware of Maya Mi’s sinister intentions and, seeing that he was allowed to continue, began to lay out his plan to the grotesque-looking Fallen Angel.

Maya Mi’s eyes grew brighter and brighter. If things were done as Wen Wen had described, he might indeed stand a chance at defeating that insect.

In the battle that had occurred two thousand years ago, Maya Mi had been utterly defeated.

The Cicada Ancestor remained nailed to the Cross throughout the entire encounter and was only sealed by it after the battle due to energy depletion.

The Pervasive Angel Maya Mi, on the other hand, had been shattered into fundamental particles by the Cicada Ancestor, evenly scattered throughout the soil of Xihong City. If it weren’t for his special abilities, he wouldn’t have had this opportunity to recover.

So although Wen Wen’s method seemed ludicrous, it might actually offer a chance to defeat the Cicada Ancestor. Should he fail, he could merely die another two thousand years, but if he succeeded...

He might become even stronger than he was at his peak. This was a rare opportunity.

Thus, his gaze towards Wen Wen turned somewhat dangerous.

As for this plan, having him as the only one in the know was enough. One more person would increase the risk of exposure. And as for Wen Wen, who provided the plan, it would be safer if he were dead.

"This arrow is in your hands, so what use are you to me now?"

Maya Mi spoke with a threatening tone, and Wen Wen knew he was about to be disposed of. To creatures like the Fallen Angels, disposing of tools after their use is simply par for the course.

At least demons tend to honor their contracts, but for Fallen Angels, there truly are no taboos.

Therefore, when negotiating with a Fallen Angel, one must have insurance. Naturally, Wen Wen had prepared such an insurance.

In a weak voice, Wen Wen said, "What you see is but the arrow. It requires the accompanying longbow to shoot it and achieve the result you desire."

"Before I came here, I placed that bow in a hidden location. The moment I lose my freedom, or even if I am merely unconscious for a second, that bow will be destroyed, and you will never again have the opportunity to defeat the Cicada Ancestor."

Maya Mi’s voice became menacing, "Are you threatening me?"

This questioning seemed to carry a strange power, and all the small creatures around, such as snakes, insects, rats, and plagues, began to mutate into demon-like monsters. Thankfully, there were no humans nearby, or that single sentence could have caused a tragedy.

"Not even with ten demons’ worth of courage would I dare to threaten you..."

Wen Wen looked submissive and scared out of his wits, then quickly added another sentence.

"Moreover, I have a special bomb hidden inside me that can release flames capable of engulfing everything nearby, with temperatures nearing the extreme limits achievable beneath a Catastrophe. You, of course, would not be killed by such a thing, but it would somewhat affect your recovery..."

The initial speech was indirect, but the following was almost a direct threat.

Upon hearing this, Maya Mi glared furiously, and Wen Wen was blasted back dozens of meters by the corrupt energy emanating from him.

Wen Wen steadied himself from the blow and let out a bitter smile. He had no desire to court death by provoking a Catastrophic Creature.

But with Maya Mi’s unpredictable nature, being too weak might make him think Wen Wen an easy target, leading to his immediate demise.

On the contrary, having some means to check him, even if slight, could keep the negotiation going.

As Wen Wen had expected, after being angered, Maya Mi did not go berserk, but instead used his one eye to examine inside Wen Wen’s body and discovered a spherical energy body that contained terrifying power.

If that energy body exploded, it truly could cause significant damage to him, who had not yet fully recovered.

The so-called "limit below a Catastrophe" does not imply invulnerability once reaching Catastrophe Level.

Just as Wen Wen, with only Upper Sequence strength, can evade pursuit by True Sequence when fleeing due to his exceptional speed, the energy within that sphere could indeed harm an average Catastrophe Level being.

Of course, this was only under the condition of being completely unguarded, at most causing minor injuries to a Catastrophe Level being.

Furthermore, the damage radius of this device was too small and the release too slow; a normal Catastrophe Level being could quickly escape the blast radius even in a point-blank explosion.

But Maya Mi knew none of this; he was only aware of the object’s power, which is why he dared not act rashly.

Although fully enduring its power wouldn’t kill him, Maya Mi didn’t want to pay any price for a weak fallen angel.

But should he let this impudent insect off the hook?

A malicious smile formed on Maya Mi’s face as the solitary eye on his forehead spun twice.

He appeared swiftly in front of Wen Wen, extending a finger with exposed bones to tap Wen Wen’s forehead.

An exceedingly powerful surge of the power of the fallen flooded into Wen Wen, quickly fortifying his fallen angel physique. Wen Wen’s back started to itch, and soon a bone spur grew outright.

Muscle and fascia rapidly covered the bone, and then black feathers began to sprout.

After one wing was complete, came the second, then the third...

It stopped only when five wings had emerged on Wen Wen’s back.

Wen Wen licked his lips. This was a pure gift of strength, much like the immense Catastrophic Creature that once bestowed power across realms to Mr. L at Furong River Amusement Park.

After sprouting five wings, his physique as an Evil Light Angel had grown from Lower Sequence to Upper Sequence in an instant!

Such advancement speed is something every superpower user dreams of, yet this was just a casual gift from Maya Mi.

Maya Mi said with a smile, "To accomplish that plan, strength on the Lower Sequence is insufficient. Only with your current strength, and in tandem with my support, can that arrow be shot into the body of that disgusting insect. Consider this an advance on your reward."

Wen Wen touched the wings behind him and rolled his eyes involuntarily.

Can’t you be a bit more generous with your gift of power? What’s with the five wings? Why not give one more?

Moreover, the placement of these wings was somewhat askew—not two on one side and three on the other, but rather like a pentagon...

After the gift of power, Wen Wen and Maya Mi began to negotiate some details, seemingly with a sense of mutual admiration.

Black Mist returned and stood by without interrupting their conversation.

He thought the two were on good terms and had no idea that Wen Wen had almost been slaughtered by Maya Mi moments before...

After the plan was fully discussed, Wen Wen smiled, waved to Maya Mi, and prepared to fly away from there.

But these five asymmetrical wings were uncomfortable to use. After some thought, Wen Wen pulled all five wings outwards but did not tear them off completely, instead linking them in the middle with energy.

This manoeuvre left Maya Mi somewhat dumbfounded. Giving Wen Wen wings in such a condition had been his own perverse pleasure.

But he had never seen a fallen angel damage their wings intentionally.

Once Wen Wen had situated his five wings, a flash of evil light enveloped him, and the wings began to move.

However, they did not flap; instead, they spun...

The five wings rotated like fan blades, with an energy exhaust vent in the middle. The vent expelled black energy, propelling Wen Wen away at a speed faster than a typical fallen angel, out of Maya Mi’s sight.

"Hahaha... I’ve lived for so many years, but a flying angel? This is a first for me."

After laughing for a while, Maya Mi’s expression turned sinister. Did Wen Wen really think his power was easy to handle?

Having accepted this gift of power, Wen Wen’s life was now in Maya Mi’s hands. Once the deed was done, a mere thought from Maya Mi could take Wen Wen’s life!

What he didn’t know was that, in a Critical State, all enhancements Wen Wen experienced would be transferred back to the Monster that granted the physique, one-to-one...

In other words, the life he held was that of the Evil Light Angel, not Wen Wen’s.
