Catastrophe Containment Facility -

Chapter 721: Chapter 711: Azure Fire Skeleton
After showing Wen Wen each item, Gu Daoqing sighed deeply and said, "Just to retrieve these items, the Association lost seven Demon Hunters, including two from the Assimilation Realm..."
Those seven Demon Hunters, along with the completely annihilated Xihong City branch, meant that the Hunters Association had already lost dozens of Demon Hunters here, yet all they had gained was a heap of indestructible parts.
All the deceased Demon Hunters and their supporters, their families would receive aid from the Association, but this assistance could not bring their loved ones back to life.
Many of the victims didn’t even have families.
All Wen Wen could do was observe a few seconds of silence, and then do his best to find the main culprit.
The job of a Demon Hunter in itself was to wage war against all things that threatened humanity, and war inevitably results in death.
After remaining silent for several seconds, Wen Wen pointed to the huge barrel resembling a meat grinder and asked, "Through this device, can we ensure the containment of these parts?"
Gu Daoqing shrugged and said, "Every eight hours the container needs to be changed, and that duration is getting shorter each time. It won’t be long before we can’t contain these flesh parts with this barrel anymore, and we’ll need to find a new method."
"Let’s look at the items you brought back first." He walked over to Wen Wen, opening the two boxes Wen Wen had brought with him.
Inside the metal box containing hair, it had become riddled with holes, the hair inside attempting to break the box and escape from there.
In the box containing a stomach, all the dirt inside had vanished, and the metal box had also thinned, containing only a stomach encased in a dirt shell.
As soon as the boxes were opened, without Wen Wen’s strength to suppress them, both items began to stir, almost simultaneously trying to merge with each other.
Gu Daoqing stretched out his hand and touched the hair and the stomach respectively.
A refined qi emanated from his hand, swiftly dissipating the filthy qi from these items, quietly lying within the container, clean as if they had been washed with bleach.
"This is my ability; it’s not much, but it can purify the things I touch, remove all the filth, and now these two items can finally be quiet for a while."
Looking at the stomach that seemed beautified, Wen Wen even thought that it was clean enough to eat sashimi directly from it.
Maybe... cut a slice to try?
However, Wen Wen just thought about it, his mind filled with dangerous ideas every minute, but few were ever acted upon.
But what puzzled him was, why would Gu Daoqing, with his refined and unworldly demeanor, wear poop-yellow clothing?
Gu Daoqing, unaware of the disrespectful thoughts in Wen Wen’s mind, continued, "The two items you brought can temporarily stay here."
"But if you find any other parts, don’t keep sending them here. I will order the construction of several more containment points to imprison similar items."
Wen Wen frowned slightly and said, "Why go through such trouble, no other place has a security level comparable to this one."
Gu Daoqing shook his head and said, "Once these items gather in large numbers, even the strictest measures won’t prevent them from automatically merging and forming a powerful, undying monster. If that happens, this base may well be wiped out again."
"How do you know that?" Wen Wen asked curiously.
Gu Daoqing led Wen Wen to a computer and looked at a video on the screen.
Surveillance equipment is not commonly used in the Federation and is completely banned for civilian use, but the Hunters Association is not bound by this rule.
Each branch had a few specially made cameras at key locations, used to monitor critical targets.
The footage showed several sealed rooms wrapped in steel plates, containing some white fragments sealed in similar devices, which appeared to be bones.
A hunter with a crew cut, carefully holding a small piece of bone, walked into this place, prepared to place the fracture into a new room for sealing.
Just then, all the parts present began to stir, frantically slamming against the containment measures and then easily breaking through and rushing out, before merging together.
Ultimately, they formed a bone creature the size of an Akita, headless.
Atop the empty space of the creature’s head, a tuft of green flame ignited, staring coldly at the bewildered crew-cut hunter like eyes.
The next second, sharp bone spurs pierced the hunter’s neck!
Its speed was so fast that the Association’s surveillance equipment completely failed to capture its movement direction.
Afterwards, the bone mass began to extract bones from the demon hunter, integrating them onto itself, a sight too gruesome to behold...
Moments later, what stood up was a one-meter tall, deformed skeleton with green flames flickering in its eye sockets.
The gaunt creature suddenly vanished from sight, and then what could be heard in the recording were only desperate screams...
Watching the short video over and over, Wen Wen asked in a deep voice, "Is that how the Demon Hunter squad from Xihong City was completely wiped out?"
This skeleton creature was very powerful!
Gu Daoqing nodded and responded, "That’s why I took the lesson to heart and won’t place too many of these parts in the same place anymore, otherwise another disaster will occur."
Afterwards, Wen Wen and Gu Daoqing exchanged their views on the matter and then set the action plans for the upcoming days.
Gu Daoqing continued to oversee this base and started establishing new containment points, as well as testing how to destroy this thing.
Meanwhile, Wen Wen was to search for new clues within the city, maintain the city’s order, and try to find more parts.
Before leaving, Wen Wen asked Gu Daoqing for a few sacks and then exited from the underground passage of Cucumber Garden with Tao Qingqing.
Upon exiting, Wen Wen tossed two sacks to Tao Qingqing.
"As the saying goes, a Demon Hunter never leaves empty-handed. Pick some fresh vegetables, whatever you take, the Association wouldn’t mind at all."
Tao Qingqing rolled her eyes, wondering why she had to do such an embarrassing thing.
Eventually, the two each carried two large sacks and left the botanical garden, much to the astonished look of the patrolling supporter.
Upon coming out, Wen Wen packed the picked fruits and vegetables into the Sanctuary, effectively saving a few sacks’ worth of money for the Foundation on vegetables.
Given Wen Wen’s current fortune, he really didn’t need to take these small advantages; it could only be described as his vice.
Nobody noticed that at that moment, at the entrance of the botanical garden sewer, a few strands of hair carrying an eyeball popped up.
This eye wandered between Wen Wen and the botanical garden, looking somewhat puzzled.
"Where is my stomach...?"
After hesitating for a while, the cluster of hair submerged back into the sewer, following Wen Wen through the sewer.
Every Hunters Branch outside has a formidable barrier; it couldn’t determine where its stomach was and had no choice but to follow Wen Wen.
At least, it had once seen Wen Wen holding its stomach.
