Chapter 718: Chapter 708: The Wriggling Stomach
After the giant wound appeared, Wen Wen teleported a hundred meters away, not out of fear, but disgust.
Inside the wound, there was writhing yellow-orange fat, emitting a pungent stench, with the occasional carcass of snakes, insects, rodents, and ants visible within, and strands of blood trickling down that fat.
Looking at its bulging appearance, one might not pay attention and get sprayed by it.
Should that happen, Wen Wen might opt to take a bath first before coming back to fight this thing.
However disgusting the wound was, it allowed Wen Wen to relax a bit, as it indicated that the defense of this fleshball Pac-Man wasn’t strong, and he could deal with it easily.
Another jet pore appeared on the back of the fleshball, and several such pores alternated in jetting out the hot streams produced by explosions, keeping this blob floating in mid-air.
Soon after, its front started growing a dense cluster of eyes, among which were those of locusts, snakes, and even humans...
Having grown eyes, the creature could finally see Wen Wen and charged at him again.
A flash of blue light streaked across Wen Wen’s body, and in an instant, he appeared behind the fleshball. Then, pointing at it, a black Energy Sword shot out from his fingertip, piercing the fleshball straight through.
The fleshball fell to the ground with a gurgling sound, as if in agony.
Despite the victory, Wen Wen wasn’t pleased because, compared to their first encounter, the creature’s skin had grown noticeably tougher, and his Energy Sword had lingered on the surface for a while before drilling through.
"When I first encountered this fellow, it was even stuck in a trench on the ground, unable to move, only able to feed on the creatures nearby with the suction force from its big mouth,"
"But in just a few minutes of fighting, it had acquired the ability to fly, developed vision, and its skin had become much tougher..."
"This means... it’s evolving!"
After figuring this out, Wen Wen looked at the giant fleshball Pac-Man with a more serious expression.
Previously, although it exuded a nefarious Qi, its combat abilities were much weaker than the ordinary Disaster Level monsters.
But if this creature could keep evolving based on external threats, heaven knows what kind of monstrous form it would ultimately take.
After being struck by Wen Wen’s sword, the fleshball Pac-Man didn’t come after him but turned its huge mouth towards the ground, starting to gnaw at the rocks and soil.
As it fed, Wen Wen could clearly see that a layer of rocky scales began to form on its body.
"It seems its evolution isn’t without cause; utilizing jet flames to fly is because it ate my bomb, and growing eyes is due to having eaten something with eyes."
Having understood the Pac-Man’s abilities, Wen Wen didn’t delay any longer. With a snap of his fingers, he covered his body in a layer of ice, the Blood River Sword left its sheath turning into a black comet, and he charged straight at the fleshball gnawing at the ground.
To deal with this creature, as long as it wasn’t allowed to eat anything slightly more powerful and its size kept being reduced, victory would come easily.
It’s just that the process was slightly disgusting...
Huge chunks of fat flew everywhere, various creatures’ limbs covered the ground, and the giant fleshball Pac-Man kept struggling in vain fury.
Ultimately, Wen Wen executed a Mysterious Sword Technique. Five Stars, slicing the largest piece of flesh from the fleshball into a dozen smaller pieces, and then, within that flesh, a basketball-sized stomach appeared.
The stomach was still trembling, a section of the tube on top occasionally sucking in a piece of flesh, and almost immediately, a chunk of flesh would grow out around the stomach.
Wen Wen cracked the ice shell stained with filth on his body, carefully staring at the wriggling stomach, knowing that this stomach was the core of the flesh-eating creature.
Other pieces of flesh became inert quickly after being reduced to small chunks, but this stomach kept on moving as if nobody was around.
Perhaps it all started with a stomach like this, sucking up little insects or creatures everywhere, and gradually grew into the huge flesh-eating creature Wen Wen had encountered.
Wen Wen casually fired a blast of black energy at the stomach, but the stomach just squirmed a bit, and Wen Wen’s energy was directly refracted, taking down a small tree.
"Tch, quite resilient. I could cut you up to make a pair of underwear; I don’t have a handy pair of superpower briefs," Wen Wen joked, tapping his chin with a finger.
The stomach seemed not to understand Wen Wen’s words, its single-minded focus was on dealing with the surrounding flesh, and in just a little while, it had grown back into a large lump.
"Makes sense, being just a stomach, it probably can’t hear me, nor can it see the surroundings and must be functioning on instinct to consume flesh."
"The fleeting aura from this thing earlier proved it’s related to the anomalies in Xihong City, even though I have no idea why I chanced upon it. But by taking it down, I should be able to make some changes to the situation."
Wen Wen stopped trying to communicate with the stomach and released the black chains, tightly binding the stomach in preparation to drag it into the Sanctuary.
No matter what this thing is, whether it’s fragrant or stinks, once it’s in the Sanctuary, it’s just a piece of meat for Wen Wen.
But the next second, Wen Wen’s expression changed, this time he was truly shocked.
He actually couldn’t get the thing into the Sanctuary!
When pulling on the stomach, it was as if there was another force, wrestling with the strength of the Sanctuary, firmly anchoring the stomach in reality.
If Wen Wen had been partially guessing before that this thing was related to the situation in Xihong City, now it was almost certain.
Something without any notable resistance, yet which the Sanctuary struggled to pull inside, was indeed rare.
"Since I can’t drag it in... then I’ll just obliterate it."
The power Wen Wen released casually could bounce off the stomach, but after all, it was just a stomach.
The Blood River Sword flashed by, and the basketball-sized stomach was instantly split in two, but the two halves were still alive and trying to reconnect.
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow; could this creature be The Undead?
Disbelieving, he let loose a burst of black light from his hand, bombarding the stomach into a frenzy. By the time he stopped, the stomach had turned into a pile of mush.
Yet Wen Wen keenly noticed that this pile of mush was still slowly wriggling!
Next, Wen Wen tried using techniques like Ice and Fire, and in the end, all it did was reduce the thing to finer pieces, completely unable to finish off the stomach.
Wen Wen had to cease his efforts helplessly, frowning at the pile in front of him:
"I think I’m starting to understand why the Sanctuary couldn’t take this thing in..."
"Just like this mush that’s still trying to come together, this stomach is probably just a part of something else!"
