Chapter 717: Chapter 707: Paw-Eating Pac-Man

A great disaster was approaching...

Tao Qingqing shrank her neck, thinking of the nauseating feeling she had sensed since she entered the jurisdiction of Xihong City.

Having stayed by Wen Wen’s side for so long, her personality had changed significantly compared to before.

Now, she rarely thought about how many more people she needed to save to gain freedom from Wen Wen. Instead, she often considered her life as Wen Wen’s lackey as her new normal and sought to find some fun in it.

The impending events in Xihong City could make her daily life less enjoyable, so she wanted Wen Wen to resolve the issues in Xihong City sooner rather than later.

Black energy turned into fine threads, binding the crows and then Wen Wen activated the Oxygen-Sucking Sheep Demon Yao’s ability, directly igniting the scarecrow and the Three-eyed Blood Crows on it.

The Blood Crows seemed highly flammable. As soon as the flames touched their wings, they quickly ignited the whole of the crow, after which the bodies of the Blood Crows exploded and a wisp of black smoke rushed to the sky, leaving a trail of indelible bloodstains on the ground.

Afterward, Wen Wen stepped into the car and said to Three Cubs, "Go to Xihong City."

Tao Qingqing asked doubtfully, "This scarecrow was clearly killed nearby, aren’t you going to deal with it?"

"I don’t know what made that ’scarecrow,’ but it’s probably like the Three-eyed Blood Crows, bred from the abnormal environment here."

"Finding it, let alone dealing with it, is easy, but that takes time, and perhaps I’m not searching as fast as these things are being born."

"Instead of that, it’s better to directly go to Xihong City to find the ’source’ of the abnormalities nearby. Only by restoring the environment here to normal is there a possibility of resolving these issues."

Tao Qingqing combed a strand of hair behind her ear and then sat quietly in her seat. She still didn’t quite understand, but she refrained from asking further.

Wen Wen rolled down the car window, his expression somber.

According to the records of the Hunters Association, someone once broadcasted the truth about the world to all the people in a walled city to see what would happen eventually.

The people were quite sensible, and the incident didn’t cause any disruption due to panic; overall, the city’s order remained as stable as before.

But from that day on, strange incidents began to occur in the city. Unidentified small monsters began to harass the city’s residents.

Some were strung up on balconies like cured meat, others were skewered on flagpoles, and many more simply disappeared without a trace.

The disturbances started with small monsters, but the creatures grew increasingly stronger, and ordinary people, even those aware of the truth, couldn’t preserve their lives under those circumstances.

Eventually, the Hunters Association erased all the ordinary people’s memories in the city, and only then did the bizarre changes finally cease.

According to the intelligence Wen Wen had seen in the Hunters Association’s documents, the situation in Xihong City was similar to that city, currently in a phase where the number of monsters was gradually increasing.

Some of these monsters came from the Inner World, others were aggregates of negative energy or emotions. Eliminating the source was the only way, as merely killing them wouldn’t rid them completely.

Moreover, the ordinary people in Xihong City were unaware of the monsters’ existence, so the cause of these abnormal changes remained a mystery, and Wen Wen’s task was to find the source of the disturbance.

Wen Wen scoffed and said, "Human hearts are fickle, demon Yao emerges abruptly, and calamities arise... I really want to see what it is that’s causing the trouble."

However, Wen Wen’s expression suddenly changed, and he quickly rolled up the car window, his face filled with horror as he stared outside.

"Don’t come closer!"

The next second, a swarm of fist-sized locusts collided against the black sedan, the stinky green liquid turning the vehicle a patchy mix of colors within moments.

Once the noise subsided, Wen Wen crawled out of the car and looked at the now camouflage-colored sports car with a distasteful twitch in his lips.

He could have gone out to protect the car earlier, but it seemed that he didn’t want to find himself amidst a swarm of insects, so he stayed inside the car instead.

Then Wen Wen said to Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs, "You drive the car into the city and find a place to wash it. If it doesn’t come clean, I don’t want the car anymore."

Afterward, Wen Wen leaped high into the air, and countless clouds emerged from him, forming a cloud that carried him toward the direction from which the giant locusts had come.

He hadn’t intended to chase after those locusts. Those large locusts could hunt small creatures similar to mustard snakes, but after all, they were just derivative species like the Three-eyed Blood Crows, posing no significant threat to humans before forming into large groups.

And until the source was addressed, these locusts couldn’t be completely eradicated.

What truly concerned Wen Wen was that these locusts weren’t just moving normally; they were frantically fleeing.

They were so terrified that they smashed their bodies to pieces to escape far from that direction, indicating that there must be something of significance in that direction.

So, the culprit behind his dirty car was the thing that frightened the locusts, and he was determined to give it a piece of his mind.

As he flew, Wen Wen felt some sinister presence waiting for him ahead, and then a suction force came, speeding up his flight.

Upon arrival, Wen Wen saw a huge mass of flesh in the ditch ahead of him, which opened a large mouth, emitting a tremendous suction force.

Upon closer inspection, he realized that this mass was actually a deformed human with a belly as big as a barn, though its head and limbs were indistinguishable from those of a normal person, resembling a blown-up rubber glove.

On that belly, there was an oval-shaped mouth full of sharp teeth, pitch black inside, capable of swallowing untold quantities.

This massive flesh emitted a strong stench of locusts, indicating that it had devoured quite a number of the insects previously.

"Fancy eating? I’ll send you some food,"

Wen Wen pulled out a huge pack of explosives, lit the fuse, and then threw it at the massive fleshy ball.

As Wen Wen had predicted, the fleshy ball swallowed the explosives.

Seconds later, a loud explosion occurred inside the flesh ball, causing it to bloat and its skin to crack open, covered with lava-like patterns.

However, the transformation stopped there. The explosives, potent enough to demolish a building, merely altered the fleshy ball’s appearance, not even slightly weakening its aura.

But as the flesh ball transformed, Wen Wen sensed a fleeting strange energy, confirming his suspicion that this creature was linked to the anomaly in Xihong City.

"Did I just encounter the main culprit this easily?"

"Is this good luck or bad?"

As Wen Wen pondered, he saw a small slit open at the back and waist of the massive flesh ball, and a red gas sprayed out, after which the huge body shakily flew up.

"Is this... Pac-Man?"

If one overlooked the short limbs and head, this massive flesh ball indeed somewhat resembled Pac-Man.

Wen Wen slightly shifted his body to the side, dodging the giant Pac-Man. His right hand formed into a sword finger, and black Sword Qi flickered uncertainly.

Then, he easily slashed a huge wound on the side of the giant flesh ball.

It was as if, he had given the creature another mouth!
