Chapter 689: Chapter 679: Walking into the Trap
"You, disgusting."
"You, dirty."
"You, ugly."
"You, carrying viruses."
...
A group of little water tadpoles, each of them uttering a few words, insulted Illiyat until he felt utterly devastated. Though each water tadpole didn’t say much, their sheer number made it overwhelming.
The ceaseless barrage of foul language finally caught Wen Wen’s attention. He glanced over his shoulder and finally saw the tiny, not yet fully furred, pinkish bat.
"Huh, when did this thing follow me in?"
Wen Wen reached out two fingers, carefully grasping Illiyat by the wings and lifting him, although Wen Wen didn’t recognize this tiny creature as Illiyat. Yet, if it could make Isweet, who rarely spoke, swear, it certainly wasn’t just any ordinary microbat.
Illiyat’s mood plummeted. He hadn’t expected to be discovered by such a creature.
If only he had been less greedy initially, focusing on regaining his strength instead of searching for Tao Qingqing, the outcome might have been entirely different.
However, it wasn’t the worst situation yet. Although he had been caught by this human, Wen Wen might not know his true identity. If he just acted cute and dumb, making Wen Wen think he was just a somewhat spiritual ordinary bat, he still had a chance to escape.
So, Illiyat stuck out his tongue and gently licked Wen Wen’s fingertips twice, blinking his shiny big eyes innocently.
After a careful examination, Wen Wen found that there was not much Supernatural Power in Illiyat, estimating his combat ability to be only slightly better than a mantis’s, so he didn’t take it seriously.
"Tsk, it must be a bat that accidentally landed on me, maybe a mutant... But since it enraged Isweet, it must be no ordinary creature, let’s lock it up first and see."
Thus, Black Chains as thick as cotton threads emanated from Wen Wen’s fingertips, binding Illiyat.
Seeing these Black Chains, Illiyat instinctively felt a sense of crisis, but at the moment, he was completely powerless to resist Wen Wen.
Illiyat vanished from Wen Wen’s hand and was locked in a cell, which Wen Wen had initially planned just to temporarily hold him for later processing.
But Wen Wen suddenly realized that this little bat had been locked in the Disaster Area of the Sanctuary!
This meant that, according to the Sanctuary’s assessment, this bat, slightly stronger than insects, was a Disaster Level Monster!
Wen Wen suddenly became intrigued. He began to suspect the identity of that little bat. He had witnessed Illiyat’s body being pulverized by five True-order Masters, but was it possible that Illiyat’s true form had escaped, and was this very little bat?
So, Wen Wen went to Illiyat’s cell, grabbed him, and headed towards Tao Qingqing’s cell.
Now, Tao Qingqing’s cell was the most luxurious in the entire third floor of the Sanctuary. When Wen Wen entered, Tao Qingqing was sitting in the corner, hugging her knees, looking pitiful.
The fear she had felt in the face of Illiyat was still lingering in her heart.
"So, haven’t been scared silly, have you? No need to wash your trousers, just come out and let me see," Wen Wen stood at the door of the cell, without any intention of comforting her.
"You heartless thing... you’re the one who needs to wash your trousers."
Upon hearing Wen Wen’s order, Tao Qingqing sighed, rubbed her cheeks, and walked out of the cell.
Wen Wen held her face, studied it carefully, and finding no major issues, he let go of his hand. As long as he was sure there were no major mental issues, that was okay. He wasn’t a psychiatrist and couldn’t detect minor problems.
"So... tell me the truth, I’ve been helping you catch monsters and save humans all this time, will you really forgive me in the end?"
Tao Qingqing looked at Wen Wen with a complex expression. Wen Wen unhesitatingly used her as bait and didn’t comfort her afterward. She vaguely felt that Wen Wen treated her merely as a tool.
"Forgive you? Impossible," Wen Wen casually replied.
Tao Qingqing’s expression immediately dimmed; she hadn’t expected Wen Wen’s answer to be so definitive.
Leaning against the wall, Wen Wen said very seriously:
"I don’t have the right to forgive you for those people you’ve killed, although you might have been forced, might have unspeakable reasons, might truly have done a lot to make amends..."
"But forgiveness is a right only the victims have. They are dead, they can’t forgive anyone. What I can do is pick out those who are unbearable and send them to meet their victims."
What he meant was that he would simply take out those he couldn’t stand.
"Don’t talk about you... even if it were myself, how is it different? I too have done reprehensible things, and innocent people have died because of me, but I don’t feel I need forgiveness. What I need to do is to be true to myself and to make up for my mistakes as much as I can."
"So you don’t need to dwell on whether or not you are forgiven. What you’re doing now is very good."
After Wen Wen’s ’comforting’ words, Tao Qingqing felt much better, although she hadn’t completely walked out of the shadow cast by Illiyat, but at least she no longer felt as conflicted as before.
Wen Wen asked with concern, "You feel a bit better now, right?"
Tao Qingqing nodded warmly; sometimes Wen Wen was quite thoughtful.
Then she saw a strange smile on Wen Wen’s face, filling Tao Qingqing with unease.
Wen Wen spread his hands in front of her, revealing Illiyat, who he’d caught.
Upon seeing Tao Qingqing, Illiyat showed not a trace of surprise, but instead, was furiously angry, releasing a furious Qi towards Tao Qingqing.
If it were under normal circumstances, he would, of course, be happy to see Tao Qingqing, but now he was a prisoner, and as a member of the High Rank Blood Race, how could he allow a little vampire to see him in such a disgraceful state?
Feeling Illiyat’s angry impact, Tao Qingqing immediately froze, her face rapidly changing as if she had seen something extremely horrifying.
Seeing Tao Qingqing’s expression, Wen Wen confirmed Illiyat’s identity.
So those five True-order Masters really hadn’t killed Illiyat, but Illiyat hadn’t escaped either; instead, he had bizarrely walked into the trap.
"You are Illiyat, aren’t you?" Wen Wen picked him up, saying with an unfriendly expression.
The little bat Illiyat sighed deeply, now it didn’t want to struggle anymore, waiting to see how Wen Wen would deal with him. As long as he wasn’t killed, he still had a chance to rise again.
With a strange smile on his face, Wen Wen walked away slowly, holding Illiyat, leaving the trembling Tao Qingqing behind.
After she recovered, she spat fiercely in the direction Wen Wen had gone. Just before, she had felt somewhat comforted by Wen Wen, even thinking he seemed like a person, but now it seems...
Wen Wen is just a beast!
Yet, being scared so close, it seems like she might need to wash her pants now...
