Chapter 671: Chapter 661: Returning to Extreme Flavor Tower
As evening approached and the sky gradually darkened, a black sports car parked outside the headquarters of the Hunter Association’s Capital branch on Kunning Mountain.
Three Cubs, with its three eyes, popped the car door open with its head and climbed out, shaking its head. After driving non-stop for an entire day, it felt dizzy.
If it could do it all over again, when Wen Wen suggested it learn to drive, it definitely would have pretended it couldn’t.
Meanwhile, Wen Wen emerged from the car feeling refreshed and clear-headed; he had actually only left the Sanctuary a few minutes before.
Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs followed behind Wen Wen, passing through the entrance of Kunning Mountain and into the branch headquarters after an inspection.
After finding their accommodations with the help of a Supporter, Wen Wen said to Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs, "We depart tomorrow at noon. It’s too boring to just wait here, so let me treat you to something at Extreme Flavor Tower. The chef there is incredibly skilled, able to make potatoes taste like lobster, and lobster taste like potatoes..."
Hearing Wen Wen’s description, Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs couldn’t quite imagine what was so special about Extreme Flavor Tower.
However, when they stood at the entrance of Extreme Flavor Tower, they caught the incredibly rich aroma wafting out and realized this place was truly extraordinary.
The dishes at Extreme Flavor Tower were pricey, but the flavors definitely justified the cost. Even a simple fried rice surpassed the exotic dishes of other restaurants, and even the tea eggs were made with astronomically expensive top-grade tea leaves.
When the Cat People at the door saw Wen Wen, they bowed slightly and then asked for his name and his identification. Dining at Extreme Flavor Tower required Demon Hunting Coins, so identity verification was imperative.
After the check was completed, the Cat Person told Wen Wen, "Esteemed guest, Mr. Xun Qing has already reserved the side hall of Extreme Flavor Tower. All Demon Hunters departing for the exchange meeting tomorrow can enjoy a free meal there tonight."
Wen Wen’s eyes lit up, "That’s quite nice." He was actually relieved not to pay out of his own pocket.
But when he arrived at the side hall, Wen Wen was stopped. The Cat Person at the door politely pointed at Three Cubs and said, "Respected Demon Hunter sir, I hope you understand that pets are not allowed inside the side hall."
Three Cubs, which was already drooling, suddenly flashed its claws, irritated about being denied entry for a meal.
Wen Wen, however, wasn’t surprised by this: "That’s normal... Then just order it a portion of fried rice and let it eat outside. That shouldn’t be an issue, right?"
The Cat Person agreed, and Three Cubs could only watch forlornly as Wen Wen and Tao Qingqing entered.
It was indeed normal for Three Cubs to be barred from the side hall, as the dining there was self-service style and the dishes were limited after all. Even if Demon Hunters could eat a lot, they still wouldn’t consume too much, but their pets might not be the same kind of strange species, capable of devouring the entire spread of dishes.
And as for how much the size-shifting Three Cubs could eat, Wen Wen had no idea.
Three Cubs, however, didn’t really lose out on anything. The fried rice here was probably the tastiest thing it had ever eaten, making the trip worthwhile.
Besides, even if Xun Qing hadn’t offered a free meal, it was unlikely that Three Cubs would have enjoyed anything more than the fried rice, expecting Wen Wen to splurge on expensive treats for Three Cubs wasn’t very realistic...
As soon as they entered the side hall, the two began to select dishes. Tao Qingqing didn’t take much because though she could eat human food, she didn’t plan to eat too much.
Wen Wen, on the other hand, helped himself generously. He stacked his plate with dishes over a meter high and then, like a juggler, balanced it on one finger from the bottom. However, after picking out his food, he embarrassingly discovered that there wasn’t a single empty table left.
Extreme Flavor Tower had long been famous among Demon Hunters. With the opportunity for a free meal, no one would miss out. It was much busier than imagined, and since most Demon Hunters preferred not to share a table with others, every table was occupied.
Just as he was about to look for a table with fewer people to join, Wen Wen saw a beautiful woman in a plain white dress waving at him. She was sitting at the largest table in the center of the side hall.
As Wen Wen walked over, he muttered, "Why aren’t you wearing armor? I almost didn’t recognize you."
Qiao Feiya’s smile stiffened for a moment. Wasn’t it you who last time told me to wear less armor? Why are you complaining now that I’m not wearing any?
But she didn’t voice her thoughts, instead beckoning Wen Wen to sit down. Tao Qingqing sat beside Wen Wen, slightly uneasy, as the beautiful and elegant Qiao Feiya made her feel a bit pressured, especially since she, once hunted by Demon Hunters, felt even more uncomfortable among so many powerful Demon Hunters.
After setting down all the dishes, Wen Wen said to Qiao Feiya, "Why are you alone taking up such a big table? It looks big enough for ten people."
Qiao Feiya’s smile stiffened again, "I just came early, that’s all. I didn’t stop anyone else from sitting down next to me."
Aside from unruly ones like Wen Wen, people, regardless of gender or age, would feel intimidated in front of Qiao Feiya, which is why they would consciously stay far away from her.
While stuffing food into his mouth, Wen Wen asked Qiao Feiya, "Why are there so many people here? I thought there were only ten Upper Sequence superpower users."
Qiao Feiya explained, "This is a Demon Hunter exchange event, not specifically for Upper Sequence superpower users to perceive their True Self. Each major district has to show off their Demon Hunting achievements and some new techniques, so many of the Demon Hunters here are very skilled in certain areas."
Wen Wen nodded, continuing to inhale food like a storm while surveying the Demon Hunters around. There were quite a few familiar faces. The Ranger circle was only so big; even if Wen Wen hadn’t met them, he at least heard of them.
Besides Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya, there were five other High Order Demon Hunters present, two of whom Wen Wen knew well.
One was Bing He, a Higher-order Hunter who had given Wen Wen a recommendation letter to participate in the Ranger assessment. At that time, Bing He was an existence Wen Wen looked up to. Now, Wen Wen could sit on equal footing with him.
The other familiar High Order Demon Hunter was Hidden Thorn. Wen Wen had executed a mission with him before, a very frightening assassin. Crossing him might mean being killed without even realizing it.
The remaining three weren’t well-known to Wen Wen, but he recognized them as High Order Demon Hunters who had been making a name for themselves recently. However, only one person caught Wen Wen’s attention significantly.
That was a cool guy with black hair in a black uniform with a long Golden Dragon embroidery. The embroidery continuously moved along the fabric. This cool guy’s surname was Long and his name Suo. He became a Ranger at the same time as Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya.
Back then, Long Suo had ranked first in the first assessment and third in the third, making him the Demon Hunter with the highest combined score across the three assessments.
After becoming a Ranger, he settled a few major incidents, his prominence even surpassing Wen Wen’s for a time.
