Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 670 - 660 Hound

Chapter 670: Chapter 660 Hound

After deciding on the travel plans, Wen Wen waited another day in Tongling City until Tao Qingqing had completely handed over her work in the city. They then got into a black sports car and drove to Shengjing City, where the headquarters of the Hunters Association was located nearby.

In the speeding car, there were only Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs, who was driving, while Wen Wen himself entered the Sanctuary.

The itinerary for going to Hunter Island had already been sent. All Demon Hunters attending from the Capital District were to gather at the Capital branch headquarters first, then travel together to a small town in the Golden Eagle District and wait before heading to Hunter Island.

This was Wen Wen’s first time leaving the Capital District, so some preparations needed to be made in advance.

Inside the Capital District, the functionality of the Sanctuary was unimpeded, but Wen Wen was unsure if other Containment Officers could still enter the Sanctuary once he left the Capital District, so he needed to prepare well in advance to avoid being caught off guard later.

Having Tao Qingqing around made this long journey much easier for Wen Wen. Although Three Cubs could drive, after all, it couldn’t let others see a snake driving the car, so someone needed to be in the car.

"Driving..." Wen Wen suddenly thought of something and murmured, "Speaking of which, I wonder if I could find a way to train Three Cubs to fly a plane."

Indeed, Wen Wen felt he should have his own private plane suited for himself, considering his increasingly strong capabilities and expanding range of activities; the mobility of a sports car was clearly becoming insufficient.

However, he couldn’t go knocking on Black Boss’s door for such things, as they wouldn’t be able to handle it. Feng Ruixing could only buy civilian models. Wen Wen planned to find time to acquire one through the Hunters Association, though he didn’t know how many Demon Hunting Coins it would cost; it presumably wouldn’t be too expensive.

"Three Cubs would certainly be thrilled if it knew I was giving it a chance to fly a plane."

...

Deep in the ocean, on an unnamed island.

A figure in a white robe was leisurely pruning a bonsai plant, a faint white light lazily floating around the man, imbuing the surrounding flowers and plants with vitality.

Behind him stood a tall man in black armor, the Death Knight Wen Wen had once seen. When not on duty, the Death Knight served as the personal guard to the man in the white robe, who was known as the Guide.

Suddenly, a gray light flashed, and a man wearing a white shirt and gray suspenders appeared abruptly, kneeling on the ground. On his head, he wore two black iron cone hats, tightly covering his eyes: "Guide, Death Knight, Ais Wakaz’s life lamp has turned gray,"

The Guide softly murmured a few words, "Ais Wakaz... it just turned gray. The lamp hasn’t shattered, has it?"

"No," the man replied.

The Guide, revealing a slight smile, said, "Then Ais is probably not dead yet, but his presence has indeed disappeared from Earth... He must have been confined in the Sanctuary. Things are getting more interesting."

The Death Knight stepped forward and said, "It’s the Sanctuary again, my lord, we can’t go on like this. The only Containment Officer we know of now is that Demon Hunter with Upper Sequence strength. I request to lead a team to capture him for you."

The Guide shook his head, "Do you know where he is? Can you bring him back under Jin Kela’s protection?"

The Death Knight had no words to answer; he instinctively felt that Wen Wen would be a big problem for them, but exactly how to capture Wen Wen, he was unclear.

"However, you are right, we can’t just watch and wait any longer." The Guide thought for a moment and said, "The Hunters Association holds a conference every three years. That Containment Officer should also be attending. I must find an opportunity to personally see this new Containment Officer."

"He’s just a trifling figure, not worth your personal effort," said the Death Knight immediately.

The Guide smiled slightly, "If things are as I suspect, then nothing is unworthy. It would be my loss to meet him later."

The Death Knight took a step back and fell silent, for him the commands of the Guide were absolute.

The Guide stared at the potted plants, seemingly lost in thought, and sighed softly, "So it was you who came back... How much better it would have been to just die outright."

...

Golden Eagle District, south of Fenling Island, the port city of Nim.

The sky here seemed perpetually overcast, with clear days being exceedingly rare. The rest of the time, the city was enveloped in smog, the only variation being between a thick fog and a lighter haze.

This was one of the Federation’s first cities to industrialize, sacrificing too much to boost its economy. Even after the city’s factories had all shut down, the weather never returned to normal.

This city had a custom not found in other cities: wearing masks. Men and women, young and old, all took pride in wearing masks outdoors. Those who didn’t wear masks were seen as morally corrupt; even street vendors would refuse to sell to them.

Because of this custom, which might seem excessive to other cities, this city with the worst air quality in the entire Federation had the lowest number of respiratory diseases...

The pervasive fog throughout the city provided hiding spaces for certain creatures that shunned the light. According to incomplete statistics from the Hunters Association, the density of monsters in this city was more than ten times higher than in ordinary cities—a truly terrifying figure!

At that moment, in a cramped alley on the south side of the city, a ragged Scavenger, wearing a face mask fashioned from scavenged undergarments, squatted in the alleyway eating a meal that was hard to swallow.

Suddenly, a dazzling bolt of lightning flashed, and after the bright light, a man wearing a felt hat and a tea-colored coat appeared in the vagrant’s line of sight. The vagrant could swear on his own mask that the man had appeared out of thin air, without any prior indication.

As soon as the man steadied himself, he ran towards the vagrant as though something terrifying was chasing him.

No, not as if something was chasing him—it really was!

The vagrant could vaguely see that trailing behind the man was a creature resembling a piece of tattered cloth, with a frightening visage. Although the creature did not touch the man, the man’s face was aging rapidly.

In the short distance of just a few meters, the man aged from a man in his twenties to a near-death old man.

The strangeness of the scene had the vagrant’s hair standing on end. Having roamed the city for over a decade, he knew of things deep within the city that should not be tampered with, and so he had always lived cautiously. However, he had never witnessed such a scene before.

"Give me your time!"

The nearly decaying elder, in his final moments, managed to touch the vagrant’s shoulder. The vagrant was shocked to find his vitality rapidly draining away.

No... it wasn’t his strength that was draining, but his time!

The already aged man rapidly became younger, and all the terrifying creatures that had been following him now gathered behind the vagrant.

Watching the vagrant’s body slowly age and then crumble into dust within seconds, the man breathed a sigh of relief. He knew that killing one person would keep those things off his back for a while.

"This time, I was lucky enough to shift the Hound’s target, but what about next time?"

"Moreover, the frequency of the Hound’s appearances is increasing..."
