Chapter 666: Chapter 656 Punishment Facility and Execution Room

After interrogating Ais Wakaz and Dr. Feng, Wen Wen made his way to the second floor of the Sanctuary, finding the Light of Life Nivea, who was selling items.

He couldn’t possibly take everything those two said at face value, which is why he needed someone to confirm the authenticity of the information. Nivea was a good choice for this; Jin Kela was too scheming to be trusted with telling the complete truth, and getting Isweet to say a few useful words was simply too difficult.

At that moment, Nivea was idly lying on the counter and perked up at the sight of Wen Wen approaching.

The business at the Sanctuary’s store was actually rather leisurely. Apart from when Red Beard released new products, there was rarely any need to work. Wen Wen beckoned to her, and she drifted over to him like a gust of wind, carrying an aura brimming with the essence of life.

Wen Wen got straight to the point, "I caught a former escapee from the Sanctuary, and I obtained some information from him. I’d like to verify its authenticity with you."

"Please go ahead and ask, I’ll answer as best as I can. Though there are some things I cannot disclose, please forgive me for that." Nivea replied.

Wen Wen nodded; he knew Nivea would respond this way. The Central Administrators always had something to hide from him, but so far, they hadn’t outright lied to him.

Next, Wen Wen relayed all the intelligence he had gotten from Ais Wakaz to Nivea.

After listening, Nivea told Wen Wen, "Most of what he said is correct, but after all, he is just a prisoner. His understanding of some matters is still too superficial."

"Which matters were superficial?" Wen Wen asked curiously.

Nivea explained, "For example, the situation with the ’Guide’ is much more complicated than he described. You’ll naturally understand when you open up the Catastrophe Zone. Knowing too much now might actually be dangerous for you."

Wen Wen was skeptical of her words, "Dangerous just by knowing more?"

Nivea nodded and said, "That individual, although not Catastrophe Level, possesses a ’Divinity’ most Catastrophe-Level experts lack. This Divinity is very sensitive to the Sanctuary, and for someone like you, who is closely associated with the Sanctuary, knowing too much about him will attract his attention, which is extremely dangerous."

Wen Wen frowned, "What do you mean by Divinity?"

In the Federation’s films and fantasy literature, Divinity was a common term, so Wen Wen wasn’t clear on the exact nature of the Divinity Nivea referred to.

After choosing her words carefully, Nivea said, "It’s difficult to describe to you. It’s an elusive, mysterious quality that allows a Catastrophe-Level expert to more easily take on the role of a deity."

"A Catastrophe-Level expert with Divinity can utilize the Power of Faith more efficiently, receive sacrifices, and respond to prayers than others. This is quite useful for those Catastrophe-Level beings who like to proclaim themselves as gods."

"For superpower users below the Catastrophe Level, Divinity represents a transcendence and radical transformation of life’s being. Even if that individual is not Catastrophe Level, he is as dangerous as one..."

After a brief explanation from Nivea, Wen Wen didn’t press further. Sometimes the more you know, the worse it is. So, he switched the topic: "What about the Punishment Facility Ais mentioned?"

"For that, please follow me."

Nivea led Wen Wen to the stairway on the second floor of the Sanctuary. As they stepped onto the stairs, they automatically descended. Wen Wen had initially thought they would stop after reaching the first floor, but they continued to go down even further.

Wen Wen exclaimed with surprise, "This is the first time I’ve heard of the Sanctuary having a basement."

Nivea clarified, "This isn’t a basement. You can’t judge the Sanctuary using normal spatial logic."

As they talked, the stairs came to a stop, and Wen Wen found himself in a circular room with black walls, a black and white checkered floor, and two large red doors.

Pointing to the left door, Nivea said, "The door on the left leads to the Punishment Facility mentioned by the escapee. Inside, time flows slightly slower than in the outside world. All who enter will remain clear-headed regardless of the punishment they receive, forever fully conscious, and they possess an undying body."

Wen Wen’s eyes lit up slightly, "That sounds beneficial; I could use the Punishment Room for training and studying."

Nivea shook her head, "You must never step in there yourself. If you have a suspect you wish to punish, just send them through the Sanctuary’s authority. It is a space more terrifying than hell itself!"

"In that space lives a kind of creature that exists by the rules of the Punishment Facility, known as Punishers. They strip away the entrant’s powers immediately and apply tortures at a frequency of one per hour."

"No matter who it is, there’s no leaving that space before enduring all the punishments. Even if you enter in the state of Calamity Prison Supervisor, it’s the same—you must wait for all tortures to occur once before having an hour of rest to use your authority..."

"Interesting, how many kinds of punishments are there?" Despite Nivea’s grim description, Wen Wen was still vaguely curious.

After thinking for a moment, Nivea said, "I recall the last person who went in there mentioned about a month’s worth of tortures, and it seems the number of punishments there is continuously updating..."

"Hmm... better not then."

Wen Wen instantly gave up the eccentric idea of experiencing it for himself. He had no desire to endure a month’s worth of torture while being wholly conscious.

Having heard of the Punishment Facility’s horrors, Wen Wen understood why Ais was so fearful of the Sanctuary. Just hearing Nivea’s description made his skin crawl; actually experiencing it would be unimaginably agonizing.

However, Wen Wen planned to send Dr. Feng there later to let him experience the malice of the Sanctuary, and other disobedient monsters could also be thrown in for a ’play.’"

As for Ais Wakaz, he figured that the mere threat of the Punishment Facility would make Ais do anything, which meant Wen Wen would probably gain another faithful minion.

Subsequently, Wen Wen pointed to the door on the right and asked, "The left door leads to the Punishment Facility, but what’s behind the right door?"

Nivea answered, "The door on the right is the Execution Room. There’s nothing inside, but any monster sent into the Execution Room will die immediately, and any Superpower Items or Containment Items will be instantly destroyed."

"The Strength extracted from their corpses and waste will be used to nourish the Sanctuary, as nothing is immortal here."

"Many of the monsters imprisoned in the Sanctuary eventually meet their end tormented in the Punishment Facility and later have their lives taken in the Execution Room, where even their souls are obliterated."
