Chapter 526: Chapter 524: Exploring the Labyrinth
Wen Wen scoffed at Mirror Nightmare’s words.
All villains in various films and TV shows say that, but how many have truly won?
Nevertheless, his words did contain some important information, namely about the guardian of the maze.
It meant that not only existed Mirror Nightmare and Guo Shengye here in the maze but also a ’guardian,’ someone Mirror Nightmare believed was capable of killing Wen Wen.
After showing up briefly, Mirror Nightmare disappeared.
Knowing that he was not smart, he didn’t want to converse too much with Wen Wen and expose his other weaknesses.
Wen Wen scratched his head and continued his exploration in the maze.
Locating directions here was quite troublesome as the placement of the rooms was constantly changing. This change was silent and disorderly, and even Wen Wen found it hard to discern any pattern.
Despite the difficulty in finding his way, the maze didn’t seem very dangerous to Wen Wen.
There were no traps or venomous insects in the maze, just rooms of varying styles, as if a city block from the real world had been randomly cut into squares and then pieced together.
As for the guardians Mirror Nightmare spoke of, Wen Wen had yet to see any.
However, he occasionally saw strange scratch marks on the walls or ceilings.
Wen Wen turned his hand into a ghostly claw and scratched the same spot to compare the marks. He could see that the creature that made the scratches had a destructive power almost at a Disaster Level Monster, but was not as strong as Wen Wen.
But this was, after all, the eerie Mirror World, and judging strength merely from destructive capacity might not be entirely accurate since the opponent might have some bizarre tactics.
After walking for a while, Wen Wen faintly heard a woman’s scream!
This was the first time Wen Wen had heard a human voice in this maze.
He hastily flew toward the direction of the scream without hesitation, regardless of whether the sound was a trap, an enemy, or something else.
Any breathing being that was different from the other rooms was a clue, and Wen Wen would not let go of such a hard-earned clue.
Just as Wen Wen was about to reach the room, the space suddenly began to flip, covering the door leading to the scream.
This was the first time the building had changed position within Wen Wen’s sight; previously, the changes had occurred without Wen Wen noticing.
However, Wen Wen was not panicked at all. He threw a long spear which punctured the wall and reached the room he wanted to enter.
Then Wen Wen snapped his fingers and instantly transported to where the long spear was located.
Upon arriving in the room, Wen Wen didn’t land but floated in the air to survey the surroundings in case there were any trigger-type traps.
Being cautiously vigilant allowed Wen Wen to avoid many unnecessary troubles. After the inspection, Wen Wen landed and looked toward a bedroom door that was shut.
The scream had likely come from that bedroom, and Wen Wen could sense someone hiding inside the room.
The sudden shift in room position meant that Mirror Nightmare did not want Wen Wen to enter this room, so that scream must be valuable to Wen Wen.
He turned his body and lightly knocked on the door a few times.
"Is there anyone in the room,"
The person inside did not respond, so Wen Wen directly pushed the door open. The lock was twisted and deformed by Wen Wen’s immense strength, and the obstacles placed in front of the door were also pushed aside.
Wen Wen simply glanced at the things and then looked at the wardrobe next to him and knew what was probably going on.
"Come out, I know you are hiding in the wardrobe, don’t worry I won’t hurt you."
A short while later, the wardrobe door was pushed open, and a young woman in pajamas crawled out, her face pale, her eyes bloodshot.
"I see... How long have you been hiding here?"
Seeing her face, Wen Wen guessed the identity of this woman; she was one of the thirty or so young girls whose souls had been stolen by the Mirror Nightmare.
Her name must be Meng Jiao, once an elementary school teacher. After a night of thunderstorms, she had become an ’idiot.’
Outside the Mirror World, she lived a dazed and foolish life.
Inside the Mirror World, her soul was in this labyrinth, enduring endless fear.
"How long..." Meng Jiao shook her head with a somewhat vacant expression:
"I don’t know how long I hid. Suddenly, I was the only person left at home, the outside world turned into an unfamiliar place, filled with terrifying monsters roaming about..."
"I can’t see time here, can’t distinguish day from night, and I have never felt hungry, am I dead..."
Watching her, unaware of what had happened to her, her soul had been plundered and she had been in this labyrinth ever since.
The body where her soul resided was the reflection of her real body in the mirror; therefore, it didn’t feel hunger or any other needs.
Wen Wen, harnessing the power of the Angel, emitted some faint rays of light from behind his head, making him appear very kind and more persuasive.
He knew that he did not appear very amiable, so, when he needed to gain someone’s trust, he resorted to some auxiliary means.
"You are not dead, the world has not changed, only your consciousness has traveled to another place."
"You can think of the experiences here as a nightmare, and I have come to lead you out of this nightmare."
After hearing Wen Wen’s words, the woman’s expression relaxed, but then she immediately said anxiously, "We can’t leave, there are monsters outside, terrifying monsters, going out means being killed!"
When talking about those monsters, the woman’s expression twisted into something grotesque and vicious, her body slightly trembling, as if there was something more than just pure fear.
Wen Wen tentatively asked, "Can those monsters not find you if you hide here? I can push open your door directly, let alone those monsters."
"Those monsters can’t enter my room, they constantly want to devour me, but they can’t get in here."
Wen Wen sat on the bed and pondered, perhaps before he found Meng Jiao, the position of the room had suddenly shifted, not to stop him, but to block something else...
The bedroom where Meng Jiao was had not seen any other entities enter for months.
This indicated that the Mirror Nightmare did not want Meng Jiao to come in contact with other entities, nor did it want Meng Jiao or other girls whose souls had been stolen to move freely in this labyrinth.
If this place was completely under the control of the Mirror Nightmare, why would the Mirror Nightmare need to take these extra steps?
Unless... those so-called monsters were not part of the Mirror Nightmare’s group, perhaps they were even enemies!
By looking at this massive structure, it was clear that the Mirror Nightmare would not have constructed such a huge maze just to trouble Wen Wen.
Thus, the existence of this huge maze must be intended to trap other entities.
Some entities in the Mirror World that could threaten the Mirror Nightmare!
