Chapter 523: Chapter 521: Silver Phantom

Actually, Wen Wen’s research on microexpressions was merely skimming the surface, Observant but not delved into any detailed understanding.

Because, after learning about microexpressions and body language, the first thing he did was train himself to not reveal his intentions through subtle movements.

For instance, when Wen Wen casually conversed with someone, he generally stood with his feet pointed inward, so others could not judge his intent to stay or leave based on the direction of his toes.

The same facial expression could be meant for hacking someone to pieces or for snatching a lollipop from a child.

In any case, unless his emotions were out of control, most of Wen Wen’s microexpressions and body movements were meaningless.

Wen Wen believed that an opponent complex enough to require him to observe microexpressions must have undergone similar training, and those less complex didn’t necessitate his observation of microexpressions at all.

That’s why he didn’t bother to understand or learn about it in depth.

Mirror Nightmare didn’t want to waste words with Wen Wen and directly said to him,

"Hand over that original manuscript to me, and I can spare you, and we will leave this city and will no longer have any interaction with you."

Wen Wen shook his head and said, "You spoke with a murderous vibe, so your words were probably just to trick the manuscript from me, but even if it’s a lie, your words still reveal something."

"You referred to yourself as ’I’ initially and then switched to ’we,’ which means you and the real Guo Shengye must be two separate entities."

Mirror Nightmare instantly turned furious, glaring at Wen Wen, while several mirrors around him began to float.

Wen Wen ignored the mirrors and continued, "Painting is his hobby, not yours, yet you with power are willing to help him."

"Either you two love each other, or there’s some connection between you, or you hold some leverage over him..."

Mirror Nightmare, with a fire rising in his heart, angrily retorted, "Human, do you think you are clever?"

Wen Wen, slightly embarrassed, scratched his head and said, "Compared to truly clever people, I still fall far short." He gestured a tiny distance between two fingers.

"But compared to ordinary people, like you, I might be just a bit smarter." Wen Wen spread his two palms wide, pulling them far apart.

Mirror Nightmare was speechless, realizing that Wen Wen was shameless, and negotiating with him was pointless, "Enough talk, will you return it or not?"

"Of course it is... no! And remember, I am the Hunter, and you are the prey!"

Wen Wen stored the original manuscript in the Space Ring, and then his aura erupted, making him appear ready for confrontation.

The previous conversation with Mirror Nightmare was just to find his weak spot; otherwise, given Wen Wen’s personality, he would have taken action after gaining the verbal upper hand a few comments earlier.

During their exchange, the Magic Eye hidden in Wen Wen’s sleeve had completed its observation of Mirror Nightmare.

This meant that now, when facing Mirror Nightmare, Wen Wen was no longer completely in the dark.

The color of Wen Wen’s left pupil began to change, slightly emitting a purple halo; now his left eye shared vision with Gadro’s Magic Eye, allowing him to see things that even superpower users couldn’t detect.

The floating mirrors were entwined with some silver semi-transparent tendrils, which were supporting the mirrors in the air.

And in the room stood a semi-transparent silver figure, who appeared bewildered, his body’s outline identical to that of Mirror Nightmare.

Where this figure stood corresponded with Mirror Nightmare’s position in the mirror; whatever action Mirror Nightmare took, the figure mimicked his movements.

It seemed that when the Mirror Nightmare damaged the reflection in the mirror, the effect was transmitted back to reality through this transparent silhouette.

Though Wen Wen was unsure if he could destroy this silhouette, being able to see it meant he could dodge its attacks!

With growing confidence, Wen Wen spread his hands towards the Mirror Nightmare and said, "You possess such great power, yet you toil for a mere sketchbook, which really is a waste."

"How about you work for me instead? I’ll not only provide food for free but also ensure your abilities are utilized to their fullest!"

Accommodation in the Sanctuary was free, and making full use of the abilities, of course, meant harnessing them for Wen Wen’s use.

The Mirror Nightmare ceased conversing with Wen Wen, as it realized that engaging in dialogue would only lead it to be manipulated.

The mirror began to spin, and the Mirror Nightmare inside it moved towards Wen Wen’s reflection, its palm turning into a blade of silver metal.

Simultaneously, the silver silhouette outside the mirror also approached Wen Wen, mirroring the Mirror Nightmare’s actions precisely.

As the mirror spun faster, it grew increasingly difficult to determine the attack direction of the Mirror Nightmare by observing the reflections in the mirror.

The voice of the Mirror Nightmare came from all directions, "This time, I won’t let you destroy the mirror easily; let’s see how you can escape from me!"

The corners of Wen Wen’s mouth slightly curled, normally he would have to destroy all the mirrors through indiscriminate attacks to break free.

But by doing so, he would lose the lead on tracking the Mirror Nightmare.

However, now that Wen Wen could directly see the silver silhouette, no matter how fancy the tricks played by the Mirror Nightmare, he could easily dodge them.

The silver silhouette shaped its hands into a blade and thrust directly towards Wen Wen’s chest.

Wen Wen dodged comfortably, then tried to grab the hand of the silver silhouette, only to find his hand passing directly through it.

The Catastrophe Gloves could directly touch a Ghost, but they couldn’t reach this silver silhouette.

Afterward, Wen Wen used attacks like light, ice, fire, and even Mental Shock, but all of them went right through the silhouette.

The situation looked dire, but Wen Wen’s mood only improved as he gained a deeper understanding of the Mirror Nightmare’s abilities throughout the combat.

This guy was indeed not invincible!

If the abilities of the Mirror Nightmare were truly as unsolvable as they appeared, even in small numbers, they would be enough to strike fear in anyone.

Throughout the recent battle, Wen Wen discovered that his Inspiration would warn him whenever the silver silhouette was about to strike.

Even if he couldn’t see the silver silhouette, the attacks from the Mirror Nightmare were unlikely to harm Wen Wen.

This kind of premonition was something higher-level superpower users could achieve.

Moreover, although the silver silhouette couldn’t be touched, since its movements were consistent with those of the Mirror Nightmare, its agility was merely like that of an ordinary person.

Additionally, Wen Wen had a hypothesis. If he could verify this hypothesis, then the silver silhouette would pose no threat to him at all.

The hypothesis was that at the moment the attack was about to succeed, the silver silhouette would become corporeal!
