Chapter 519: Chapter 517: Mirror Nightmare
Wen Wen sighed and adjusted his clothes, saying, "It seems I have to take action myself, can’t they give me a break for a moment."
"But after all, this trouble was caused by me, and an officer of mine was abducted, I can’t just let that go..."
As Wen Wen was preparing, the data transfer concerning You Han finally completed, though given her current condition, it seemed unlikely she could complete her mission.
Although the data transfer was slow, the information did pass through, so if You Han really found herself in a desperate situation, she could escape by returning to the Sanctuary.
On the other end, You Han also realized that returning to the Sanctuary was her only means of escape, thus she began attempting to enter the Sanctuary.
Just like the information transfer, the speed of entering the Sanctuary was very slow. It took almost half an hour from when her ghostly image appeared inside the Sanctuary till she was about to actually enter it!
This made Wen Wen very curious, wondering where exactly You Han was that made locating her so difficult for the Sanctuary.
"In a moment, ask her in detail about her experiences, and collect all the data you can gather."
Wen Wen instructed the man in a metallic suit about some matters and then vanished from sight. Even if You Han stood right beside him, she would not see him, and soon after, You Han fully entered the Sanctuary.
After the oppressive feeling of spatial transfer disappeared, You Han stood in front of the man in the metallic suit, looking at the grand hall she had seldom visited, and sighed deeply.
Previously, her appreciation of the Sanctuary was limited to it restoring her abilities and turning her back to a normal woman’s body shape.
She had never found anything special about gatherings of Sanctuary officers or even Sanctuary shops.
Now, she suddenly realized that the Sanctuary could also save lives!
If not for the Sanctuary, she might have been stuck in that basement, accompanied only by loneliness and insanity until death...
The man in the metallic suit approached You Han and asked gently, "Officer 72608, Madam You, have you encountered any troubles? Feel free to share them with me."
You Han sighed and began to share her experiences with the man in the metallic suit.
Wen Wen, listening on the side, nodded occasionally. He now had a general understanding of the situation.
The space You Han had been in was likely behind the mirror.
Whether it was not seeing her own reflection in the mirror or the silver space outside the door, both proved Wen Wen’s hypothesis.
The world behind the mirror is, after all, only a reflection of the real world; if the mirror reflects only a basement, then naturally the mirror would contain only a basement.
Her inability to see herself in that mirror, of course, was because she was inside it.
As for that silver space, it was likely a manifestation of the mirror’s coating, perhaps silver, aluminum, or even mercury.
After listening to You Han’s description, Wen Wen became increasingly curious about Guo Shengye’s abilities.
To attack someone through a mirror, lock them inside it, and even directly target their soul...
This power was quite eerie. If used correctly, it could be stronger than most of Wen Wen’s abilities.
What enticed Wen Wen the most was the space behind the mirror.
Encountering a space that could weaken the effects of the Sanctuary to some extent was a first for Wen Wen.
Thus, he had to capture Guo Shengye and obtain his abilities!
After sharing her experiences with the man in a metallic suit, You Han shook her head, sighed, and returned to her room to rest.
Now she could only opt to stay within the Sanctuary. Without Wen Wen’s help, she would return to the very place she entered the Sanctuary from.
She could only rejoin the outside world after the issue was resolved.
Although he had decided to deal with Guo Shengye, Wen Wen didn’t hold complete confidence in victory because his opponent’s abilities were too strange.
Worried about potential surprises, Wen Wen made some preparations before setting off.
First, he found Tao Qingqing and held up a mirror, shifting it in various positions around her, then left disappointed.
In folklore, vampires have no reflection in mirrors, and Wen Wen thought this might be the key to restraining Guo Shengye.
After numerous attempts, Wen Wen concluded that this legend was nonsense.
He had bothered Tao Qingqing for quite some time, trying every possible angle and position, but not once did she vanish from the mirror.
Afterward, he left Tao Qingqing, who was swearing in the cell, and went straight to Magic Mirror Gidro. Gidro humbly bowed at a ninety-degree angle and said:
"Great master, you finally remembered me again. What can I do for you?"
Wen Wen directly asked, "What do you know about the world inside the mirror?"
"I’m pleased to serve you. Behind each mirror, there is a special space attached to that mirror," Gidro replied.
"It’s like the place where I live, which is actually within the space attached to the Magic Mirror."
"Mirror space only means something to special beings like us. To you, it is merely a reflection on the mirror’s surface."
After finishing, Gidro eagerly looked at Wen Wen, hoping for his praise.
Wen Wen thought for a moment and asked, "Do you know of any monster that lives inside mirrors, can attack others by targeting their reflections, and can trap real people inside the mirror?"
"That’s impossible!" Gidro immediately denied it.
"Creatures living in the mirror, generally known as Mirror Demons, have exceedingly strict conditions for birth," he explained.
"They are born from the reflection of a special person who has stayed long in front of a special mirror, under special environmental conditions, developing its own will."
"The ability of ordinary Mirror Demons is mostly to take on the appearance of the person looking in the mirror and to hide within it."
"I too am a Mirror Demon, but because the Magic Mirror that birthed me is very special, I possess special abilities."
"Due to this, I also lost the ability to leave this mirror and to change appearances."
"Among the Mirror Demons I know of, there has never been one as powerful as you describe."
Among Mirror Demons, Gidro was already considered quite special.
And the abilities Guo Shengye was described with by Wen Wen far exceeded the range typical for Mirror Demons; such a Mirror Demon should not exist.
If Gidro had such strength, he wouldn’t still be just a Magic Mirror aiding others; he would clearly be leading on his own.
However...
Gidro pondered, what if the opponent wasn’t a Mirror Demon?
"Great master, there is a rather unreliable legend among the Mirror Demons. I wonder if it might serve as a reference for you."
Wen Wen raised an eyebrow and said, "Let’s hear it."
"According to the legend, all the spaces behind the mirrors are interconnected, forming a world parallel to our real world, and within this world, resides a terrifying primeval monster."
"This primeval monster is named... the Mirror Nightmare!"
