Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 509 - 507: Mad Howling Conch
Chapter 509: Chapter 507: Mad Howling Conch
In the projection, one could see faint light spots that appeared intermittently.
Most were white, a small number were yellow, and only a few scattered ones were red.
These light spots should be the distribution of monsters or containment items in Furong River City.
Like the holographic image that appears with the custodian badge, the color of these light spots represents the approximate strength of those people or things.
White is Calamity Level, yellow is Disaster Level, and red is Catastrophe Level.
"Speaking of which, I wonder what color represents Catastrophe-Level experts. I should have experimented when I was with Xun Ying."
Whenever a new light spot is generated or a cross-boundary passage appears, the Surveillance Point will sound an alarm, and at that time, Wen Wen could dispatch containment officers to manage the situation.
Although its function is similar to the custodian badge, the range of the Surveillance Point is much larger, encompassing the entire Furong River City and surrounding villages and counties.
However, precisely because of its vast range, the monitoring of the Surveillance Point isn’t very clear; it can only determine the approximate location of the monsters and their general strength but cannot pinpoint them accurately.
Compared with its powerful features, Wen Wen was willing to accept this minor flaw.
Yet, someone needed to keep an eye on the Surveillance Point, and Wen Wen did not want to trap himself in there, nor did he trust those prison guards or monsters to take over such an important duty.
After some thought, he called the water tadpole creature into the room.
The usually silent and reticent water tadpole creature became excited upon seeing the room.
The small water tadpoles that composed its body moved frantically, causing the form of the water tadpole to become somewhat unstable.
"It seems you quite like this place, so I guess I found the right candidate. How about you manage this Surveillance Center and issue tasks to nearby containment officers based on the situation?"
"Okay."
The reticent water tadpole said the word and then dispersed into countless small water tadpoles, swimming around the vast room.
"It seems to be more familiar with this Surveillance Center than I am. Now I’m even more curious about what kind of beings the Central Administrators of each level are..."
Wen Wen then took out a piece of paper and started to record the positions of the light spots.
He planned to ask Lin Zheyuan for information on the monsters within Furong River City and cross-reference it with his notes, which would provide a clearer view of the strengths and weaknesses of the Surveillance Point.
Just as Wen Wen was about to finish sketching, the water tadpole swam over and handed him a thin, circular crystal card about four centimeters in diameter.
"Use this."
In front of the water tadpole, the water solidified into a pattern. It was the image of Wen Wen placing the crystal card on the custodian badge.
Following the image, Wen Wen placed the card on the custodian badge, and a small holographic image appeared in front of him.
"Oh, this is really convenient... But why didn’t you give this to me earlier? Why wait until I’m almost done before giving it to me?" Wen Wen rolled his eyes at the water tadpole.
However, the water tadpole ignored Wen Wen and continued to disperse into small water tadpoles, frolicking around the room.
Having obtained what he wanted, Wen Wen didn’t stay there any longer. He always felt strange in that place, full of water tadpoles, as if he were in what’s-it-called.
After leaving the Sanctuary, Wen Wen made a call to Lin Zheyuan.
Ironically, the person Wen Wen had communicated with most frequently over the phone in recent years was Lin Zheyuan... Someone else in this role would typically be a girlfriend.
"Old Lin, that’s right, it’s me. I want the records of the monster divisions within Furong River City."
Lin Zheyuan paused for a moment, and then said, "Those records are in my head, but I don’t have time right now. I’m dealing with a difficult creature. Once it’s taken care of, I’ll come find you."
After he finished speaking, an eerie howl came through the phone, which made Wen Wen unconsciously pull the phone away slightly. When he brought it close again, Lin Zheyuan had already turned off the call.
"A difficult creature... If Lin Zheyuan thinks it’s tough, it must be a Disaster-Level monster."
Wen Wen took out the crystal card and quickly found two pale red dots as well as two light yellow dots on the edge of the Furong River.
The red dots should be Lin Zheyuan and that monster, while the yellow dots should be Demon Hunters assisting Lin Zheyuan in battle.
"Let’s go have a look. If there really is a Disaster-Level monster, I can try out the ’Power of the Four Spirits’ and also get what I want more quickly."
Wen Wen, having made up his mind, flew quickly in the direction of Lin Zheyuan. With his current speed, he soon arrived beside a winding river.
This river was the Furong River, and Lin Zheyuan and the others must be fighting that monster nearby.
Wen Wen searched along the riverbank for quite a while before finally tracking Lin Zheyuan by his qi, and found them.
Present were Lin Zheyuan, Yan Xiu, and Lin Lu; they were meticulously searching through a swampy area.
Finding them had actually been quite challenging because the range provided by the surveillance point was merely a dot on a miniaturized map, and that dot covered a broad area.
If it were other Containment Officers who had to search, it would take them a while just to locate the target, but this was still much more convenient than blindly searching in the entire city area.
Upon seeing Wen Wen appear, Lin Zheyuan asked in surprise, "How did you find this place? I don’t think I told you my location."
"I have my own channels," Wen Wen casually joked, brushing it off.
Next, Wen Wen looked around the swamp with interest. It seemed to be a monster that was very good at hiding, lurking in the mud of the swamp. It wouldn’t be easy to find.
"You go prepare the things I want. Leave this fellow to me. I just got a great item, and this is a good chance to try it out."
After observing for a while, Wen Wen said to Lin Zheyuan.
Lin Zheyuan nodded in agreement, not insisting on resolving it himself but cautioning Wen Wen, "Be careful, this monster is called ’Mad Howling Conch’, a Disaster-Level monster that escaped from the Qi Ling Mountain Range."
"It’s a large sea snail that lies in wait beneath the sand, with a very tough body. It can shoot out high-pressure water jets and emit disturbing noises that can confuse the mind."
"Don’t worry, I’m confident I can handle it."
Wen Wen hummed softly, and the ’Power of the Four Spirits’, which had been docilely resting on Wen Wen’s shoulder, began to dance around animatedly, its ethereal body fluttering beside Wen Wen.
This strange little thing caught the attention of Lin Zheyuan and the other two, but they refrained from asking about it.
Suddenly, Wen Wen took to the air. What was difficult for Lin Zheyuan and the others to find was not hard for him to locate.
