Chapter 486: Chapter 484: The Sword Turns into a Mountain
"Shanshan? Home? You all..."
Wen Wen suddenly felt that his previously unruly thoughts had been heading in the right direction, for Fu Xuerou must have truly experienced something with that fish monster.
"A beautiful human girl falling in love with the monster that abducted her, isn’t this the plot of ’Beauty and the Beast’?"
"Wait, that’s not right. Fu Xuerou has only been missing for a few days. Could such a short time really make her fall in love with a monster?"
Wen Wen scrutinized Fu Xuerou carefully, wanting to detect any telltale signs: "Making a woman fall head over heels for a man, even to the point of risking her life—if it were really that simple, those monsters would have been madly in love with me long ago."
"Although she wasn’t subjected to mind control, that fish monster must have done something to her... Did it permanently twist her thinking?"
Fu Xuerou had mentioned earlier that the fish monster had performed a ritual with her, which must be why she helplessly ’fell in love’ with the fish monster.
So if one wanted to know the truth, it wouldn’t suffice to simply ask Fu Xuerou; the culprit, the fish monster itself, had to be questioned directly.
A long spear flew into Wen Wen’s hands. He then aimed in one direction and hurled it forcefully that way, which was where the monster tracking him was located.
The spear, with tremendous force, pierced through two towering trees but missed its target; the figure eerily twisted and dodged Wen Wen’s spear.
"Tsk, tsk, quite nimble, befitting of an eel."
Two strands of Wen Wen’s hair fell and tied Fu Xuerou to a tree. Then, like a large bird, he pursued the location of the eel.
As soon as the eel monster realized it was discovered by Wen Wen, it started to flee, knowing well that it was no match for a Middle Sequence Demon Hunter like Wen Wen.
It moved across the ground like a snake, swiftly and with elusive movements, making it difficult for Wen Wen to lock onto it.
For such an enemy, throwing spears was futile; no matter how powerful, it meant nothing if the spear didn’t hit.
The eel monster’s Qi was somewhere between Disaster Level and Catastrophe Level. Despite its not-so-formidable strength, its ability to escape was exceptionally strong.
However, it was not possible to be faster than Wen Wen. Wen Wen quickly flew over it and reached out his hand.
Countless strands of black hair, like a bunch of black noodles, covered the spot where the eel monster was, bundling it into a ball.
"Got you!"
But what surprised Wen Wen happened, the eel somehow squeezed through the gaps of the black hair!
When Wen Wen tried to manipulate the hair to catch it again, he found that the hair that had touched the eel was covered in a disgusting mucus, causing the strands to stick together, making them difficult to control.
"Messing up someone’s hairdo is like murdering their parents, you’re done for!"
Wen Wen gritted his teeth and cut off his hair, then continued to curse as he chased after the slippery eel.
This creature was tricky—seemingly weak but difficult to capture.
"It seems physical restraints aren’t enough to catch him, so... time to try this move!"
If throwing spears wouldn’t hit and there were gaps in the hair, then just freezing it in place should do the job.
The Ice Longsword was unsheathed, and Wen Wen slashed in the direction of the Fish Monster.
An arc-shaped blast of Ice Sword Qi suddenly struck near the Fish Monster, forming a semi-circular ice mountain, and the unsuspecting Fish Monster was immediately encased within this ice mountain!
Within the ice, the Fish Monster struggled arduously, but it could not break free from the cold’s embrace.
With a few strokes of his sword, Wen Wen removed the block of ice encasing the Fish Monster from the ice mountain, then pressed the Ice Longsword onto the ice block.
The Cold Qi on the ice block surged instantly, and the Fish Monster, which had been able to move slightly before, was now completely immobilized.
Wen Wen then looked at the arc-shaped ice mountain he had created with a hint of amazement, approximately twenty-seven or twenty-eight meters wide, and five or six meters high.
"The power of my Ice Sword Qi... has gotten a bit out of hand," he mused.
He had intended to simply carve out an ice block to freeze the Fish Monster, but instead, he created an entire ice mountain, an ability that seemed even stronger than that of the Ice Queen swinging her sword personally.
"It must be Qin Shuang’s Ice Attribute abilities that have allowed me to truly unleash the power of this Ice Longsword. Before, I was just a Swordsman wielding an Ice Attribute weapon, but now I possess the power to control ice, hence the significant difference in effect."
Wen Wen was quite pleased with the increased power of his Ice Longsword, and then he turned to the Fish Monster sealed within the ice block.
This Monster had the tail of a fish and the body of a human, with the humanoid part somewhat resembling the Zeolite Clan of Oye Water City. Its body was yellow-brown with a layer of mucus on its skin.
Even though it was now encased in ice, it was not dead yet, and its eyes were still roving around.
Wen Wen thawed the ice around its head so it could breathe, but made sure it couldn’t escape.
"Speak. What was your purpose in luring me to that pond, and how did you bewitch that ignorant young girl?" Wen Wen asked with an interrogative stance.
"I..."
Before the Fish Monster could even open its mouth to speak, Wen Wen plunged his sword into its abdomen, skewering a kidney, and said fiercely, "If you dare to lie to me, I have even more ruthless methods to deal with you."
The Fish Monster was painfully at a loss for words. Doesn’t one usually ask questions first, and only resort to punishment if the replies are silent or nonsensical? Why did it receive a sword strike before it even uttered a word?
Yet, it was precisely because of this strike that the Fish Monster did not dare to play any tricks and directly revealed the truth to Wen Wen.
It was just as Fu Xuerou had said, the pond was actually the Fish Monster’s home. The Fish Monster had never intended to kill Fu Xuerou; it genuinely wanted to live with her.
This affection was incredibly sincere — it had felt the same about the corpses in its cave once.
However, it thought life needed a bit of ceremony, so it took Fu Xuerou out and used a special ritual it had chanced upon, making her fall in love with itself.
To call it love was actually to speak of a slave with distorted thinking. Whatever the Fish Monster requested, Fu Xuerou would fulfill without hesitation, and she would mentally justify it as a dedication to love.
Just when the Fish Monster was about to bring Fu Xuerou back to its lair to spend their wedding night, it discovered someone else had taken over its home.
Furthermore, the occupant was so powerful that the Fish Monster didn’t even dare to show itself in front of this person.
But giving up its home of many years, an excellently located and exceedingly hidden lair, was out of the question. So the Fish Monster thought of using Fu Xuerou to call over a strong Demon Hunter to drive the intruder out of its lair.
It had not anticipated, however, that its little scheme would lead to it being captured by Wen Wen outright.
