Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 441 - 439
Chapter 441: 439
After tying up the insects, Wen Wen said with slight surprise to Chu Wei, "I didn’t expect you to be involved in this mission too."
"If this weren’t a compulsory mission, I wouldn’t be here at all. Doing missions in the neighboring city is as comfortable as it gets," Chu Wei complained, pouting.
Wen Wen asked curiously, "What mission were you doing in the neighboring city that you can’t stop thinking about?"
Chu Wei smirked lewdly at Wen Wen and then said with a sly expression, "Hehe, a couple of days ago, I took on a mission where there was a succubus lurking in the neighboring Hengjiang City, and men were often found dead in the streets."
"After I took on the mission, I found the succubus. Naturally, she didn’t want to be caught by me, so she tried to kill me."
"For several days, she tried all sorts of tricks to kill me, but I just wouldn’t die... hehehe, those days were really thrilling."
"Unfortunately, I couldn’t refuse the compulsory mission, so I had to painfully capture that little demon fairy. Otherwise, I could have held out for a few more days."
Wen Wen stepped away from Chu Wei, no longer listening to the Biluochun Scroll broadcasts, his current hobbies had become even more disgusting.
What could a succubus try to kill him, it’s just the same old tricks.
However, hearing Chu Wei out, Wen Wen felt somewhat envious.
The lewd expression faded from Chu Wei’s face, and he said seriously to Wen Wen, "Speaking of which, I really do need to thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would be in trouble now."
"What do you mean? We haven’t seen each other since the Ranger assessment," Wen Wen asked, somewhat confused.
Chu Wei didn’t reply but fiddled with his Ranger Terminal, showing Wen Wen a piece of news.
"True face of Biluochun Scroll revealed, turns out to be an elderly lady, Mr. Wang, who was first in the tipping rankings, suddenly became the focus of netizens and ultimately couldn’t withstand the media harassment and relocated to the U.S.-Canada District..."
Wen Wen stared at Chu Wei in disbelief.
Chu Wei nodded with a bitter smile and said, "You guessed right, I was the previous top of the chart. If I hadn’t stopped tipping, that Mr. Wang would never have made it to the top."
"If you hadn’t exposed her real identity, the one forced to move abroad would have been me."
Wen Wen’s face twisted weirdly; he had been busy with missions, so he hadn’t followed up on the ’Biluochun Scroll’ event. However, given Chu Wei’s previous obsession with ’Biluochun Scroll,’ he probably could have indeed topped the tipping charts...
After catching up briefly with Chu Wei, Wen Wen began to examine the bodies on the ground that had been bombed.
The monsters, about the size of monkeys, were called Human-faced Hunters, a type of creature from the Inner World.
But their main targets were stray cats and dogs, and they rarely attacked humans directly. Looking at the wounds on their heads, they must have been parasitized by those insects before they began attacking humans frantically.
The same went for the spider, with the nature of these creatures, they wouldn’t blatantly go on a killing spree.
These insects, if they only parasitized humans, wouldn’t be much of a problem, as the military surrounded by Supporters could handle them. But parasitizing monsters was a bit more troublesome; crazed monsters were not so easy to deal with.
Moreover, if they could parasitize monsters, they could naturally parasitize superpower users!
Then, Wen Wen walked up to the gigantic monster and, with a light swing of the Blade of Contamination, cut the bucket off its head, revealing a pig head underneath.
"A pig-headed man... Could this guy be of the same species as Zhu Qipei?"
"Hmm, probably not, Zhu Qipei is a pig-headed man, this guy might be a wild boar man... But it at least has Disaster Level strength, yet it was also parasitized by these insects. Can these insects infect across levels?"
After observing a bit more, Wen Wen shook his head, the parasitism of this monster wasn’t something a single insect could achieve.
Instead, someone used a specially made bucket to cover this pig head, then placed the strange insect inside the bucket, leaving the pig-headed monster in despair as it was parasitized by the insects, which explained the scratch marks on the bucket.
"It seems that without help, these insects can parasitize creatures below the Calamity Level, but with assistance, they can infect even Disaster Level monsters..."
"Speaking of which, where are we? There are so many monsters here!"
Then Wen Wen put his hand on the Custodian Badge and started to look up the local map, only to discover a huge space underground beneath this building, and in that space, there was something Wen Wen hadn’t expected.
While Wen Wen was studying the insect, Chu Wei was idly playing with the insect that Wen Wen had caught.
Although his ability was buggy, he was weaker in direct combat, so he didn’t want to act alone on such missions and preferred to stick with Wen Wen and slack off.
Surviving a few extra times was always a good thing no matter what.
Though he couldn’t die and his pain nerves were different from ordinary people, dying wasn’t really a pleasant experience.
Suddenly, a low roar came, and Wyn revealed a knowing expression on his face.
Chu Wei’s face was filled with shock, that was the aura of a Calamity Level, and it was very close, yet he had not noticed it before.
"Follow me, that thing is underground, we need to take it out down there, letting it come up might cause extra casualties."
Indeed, there was a Calamity Level monster underground. However, the state of this monster was a bit off, as it had apparently been in a state akin to deep sleep all this time, but now it was fully awake.
Going down from the first underground level felt like entering another world, everywhere was cold and damp, without a trace of light.
But this level of darkness was nothing to Wen Wen and Chu Wei.
Chu Wei sniffed and said, "The environment here has become like this, it seems this group of monsters has been living here for a long time, and the local Hunters Association hasn’t discovered it."
Wen Wen shook his head and said, "There’s a Calamity Level monster here, it must be a small monster organization. Hua Shan City is just a small city, it’s normal for them not to have discovered it."
The two stopped in a slightly more open space, and Chu Wei took out a glow stick, bringing a dim light to the space.
They didn’t need to find that thing, as it would come to them on its own, at least its aura kept approaching; the thing had no intentions of running away.
Chu Wei said with a smile, "This monster seems not very smart, there are two Assimilation Realm superpower users here, you are a Middle Sequence, and it’s just an ordinary monster, yet it dares to attack us."
Wen Wen’s expression, however, was a bit grave, "A monster parasitized by insects lacks the ability to discern strength differences. Since this monster couldn’t sense the difference in strength, it might also have been parasitized!"
