Chapter 348: Chapter 346 Staff of Frenzy
On the rooftop of the property management building on the fourth floor of the residential complex, a middle-aged man with partially grey hair lay prone, peering through a telescope at the windows of Wen Wen’s house.
Last night, he had received a signal that someone from the Wen Family had returned, which is why he had come here early this morning to observe the situation.
Since he didn’t know who had come back, he hadn’t rashly gone over to seek help but decided to observe first.
Seeing that the person sleeping there was a young man, not the one he had hoped to see, he shook his head in disappointment.
The young man could be a new resident or a relative of that person, but since he was sleeping there, he must be connected to that person in some way, so he decided that he still needed to go and ask.
For his son’s sake, he had approached countless people who might help him, all to no avail. The most likely solution, Wenwen’s Family, had disappeared for several years.
Wen Wen, who had stormed out of his house in a rage, looked at the middle-aged man shaking his head and preparing to go downstairs with a strange expression.
As a superpower user, he was highly sensitive to prying eyes. Initially, Wen Wen thought someone was looking for trouble with him, but he didn’t expect the one spying on his house to be such an ordinary person.
He stealthily followed behind the man, and when he reached the corner of the stairs, Wen Wen grabbed his neck and pinned him against the wall, immobilizing him.
"Who are you, and why are you spying? That little thing at the door was your doing too, wasn’t it?"
Wen Wen said coldly. If this man couldn’t give a reasonable explanation, then he should prepare to suffer.
The middle-aged man looked at Wen Wen in horror. When he had put away his telescope, Wen Wen had still been lying in bed. How did this man get to him before he had even walked downstairs?
And the strength of just one of his hands was rendering him, a trained man, unable to move!
"I’m just looking for someone, I have business with Wen Rui!"
"What a joke. Does seeking someone involve hiding here sneakily with a telescope? And, everyone knows my parents have passed away; using this as an excuse is really taking advantage of my youth, isn’t it?" Wen Wen used even more strength, making it hard for the middle-aged man to breathe.
The middle-aged man faltered, looked into Wen Wen’s eyes, and suddenly said, "You are... Wen Wen? I’m a friend of your father, my name is Wang Junyi!"
After hearing he was his father’s friend, Wen Wen relaxed his grip a little, allowing the man some relief.
Wen Wen had heard the name Wang Junyi before; he was a great detective with a reputation throughout Dongshan Province, and once Wen Wen’s idol... Well, for the old Wen Wen, all detectives were his idols.
Wen Wen still somewhat disbelieving, asked, "If you’re my father’s friend, you should be even more aware that he is dead..."
Wang Junyi fell silent for a moment and then said, "I suspect that Wen Rui isn’t dead!"
To Wen Wen, this statement was like a thunderclap on a clear day, causing him to freeze completely. Crimson frenzy unknowingly began to spread, and Wang Junyi’s expression grew increasingly strange.
As Wen Wen came back to his senses, looking at Wang Junyi drooling like a lunatic, he scratched his head in annoyance.
The frenzy had grown considerably stronger in Fairy Tale Town, and was usually manageable, but it wasn’t as easy to control. Usually, Wen Wen could suppress it genteelly, but Wang Junyi’s words had been too great a shock, and he momentarily lost control.
He brought Wang Junyi back to his home and checked on his condition, letting out a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, he had been attentive in time; as long as Wang Junyi awoke, he would be fine. Otherwise, this guy would definitely have gone mad. Yet, after this incident with Wang Junyi, Wen Wen began to grow wary of his own frenzy.
Although this frenzy was his strength and greatly augmented his power, letting it lurk within him, deciding to erupt based on his emotions, was far too dangerous.
After some thought, Wen Wen left Wang Junyi there and entered the Sanctuary, assuming the form of the Calamity Prison Supervisor, and began to analyze the frenzy.
The total amount of frenzy within Wen Wen’s body had already surpassed the energy reserves of an average superpower user in the Mastery Realm, but it was still less than that of a user in the Assimilation Realm.
This meant that even outside the Sanctuary, Wen Wen could still wield strength greater than that of a typical user in the Mastery Realm through his frenzy.
Since it was useful, it shouldn’t be discarded carelessly, so Wen Wen’s idea was to craft a personal item to temporarily store the frenzy.
Keeping the source within his own body and storing most of the frenzy in a personal item would prevent it from being affected by his emotions and allow him to utilize the frenzy without impediment when necessary.
Wen Wen searched through the items he owned, but there were very few that could store frenzy. Although not powerful, the distinct nature of frenzy meant it couldn’t be contained by just anything.
All his supernatural weapons and tools were unsuitable, but within the pile of materials, Wen Wen found something that could be used.
It was a stark white beast bone over a meter long, a strange bone Wen Wen had found while rummaging through Feng Ruixing’s room. At the very least, this bone came from a Catastrophe Level monster, more than enough to withstand Wen Wen’s frenzy.
Furthermore, despite the countless years it had existed, the bone still possessed miraculous properties.
After the frenzy found a home within it, it seemed to nurture the bone, and the bone, in turn, made subtle changes to the frenzy. The two entities benefited each other through a mutualistic relationship.
Given such magical characteristics of the bone, Wen Wen naturally did not hesitate to choose it as the vessel for storing his frenzy.
In the Sanctuary, using the strength of the Calamity Prison Supervisor, Wen Wen began the arduous task of crafting the bone, the most difficult material he had ever worked with.
In the end, after spending most of a day and almost running out of breath even in his Calamity Prison Supervisor state, he finally transformed the bone into a completed item, a pale staff.
This staff, compared to those available on the market, was very crude but possessed a distinctly quaint charm.
Once Wen Wen had stored his frenzy within it, the staff faintly glowed a subtle red hue, revealing the wild energy it contained.
When Wen Wen needed it, the frenzy within would surge into his body in an instant, obeying his command. When he did not need it, the frenzy would obediently lie dormant inside.
The end of the staff was flat; anyone pressed by this end would find a surge of frenzy entering their body from the tip, exerting its influence. This also resolved the issue of Wen Wen’s use of frenzy, which always risked harming the innocent.
Apart from Wen Wen, who possessed the source, no one could use this staff; even other superpower users in the Assimilation Realm would be affected by the hidden power of madness within.
"Since it possesses such a powerful ability, I shall name you ’Staff of Frenzy’."
