Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 328 - 326: True Identity
Chapter 328: Chapter 326: True Identity
"Since that’s the case, I have even less reason to refuse. I’ve nearly died at the hands of those things several times, so I won’t run away," Li Dazhuang said resolutely.
Wen Wen nodded, "Very well, I’ll report your thoughts, and someone will come by to sign a contract with you."
After that, Wen Wen gathered information from Li Dazhuang about his recent experiences, developing a deeper understanding of Fairy Tale Town.
He now realized that the changes in Tao Wen were not an isolated case; every person in this town seemed to have undergone some kind of change.
Whether these changes were good or bad, one thing was certain: Someone behind the scenes definitely wanted to use these changes to carry out certain deeds.
And these usually were deeds the Hunters Association didn’t wish to see happen.
Then, Wen Wen patted Li Dazhuang’s shoulder and said, "The things you’ve said before, I need to verify them further. If all that is true, there might be a major conspiracy brewing here."
Having said this, Wen Wen left Li Dazhuang and Tao Wen behind and stepped out of the small courtyard.
But in reality, as soon as he was out of Li Dazhuang’s line of sight, he entered the Sanctuary and switched into his Calamity Prison Supervisor mode. He had seen everything Bai Xiaomiao had seen before, so he didn’t need to verify it again.
The reason he said that was simply to recruit Li Dazhuang into the Sanctuary right then and there.
He held the Custodian Badge, and through the emerging bubbles, he located Li Dazhuang; the new recruitment officially began.
In the room, Li Dazhuang was taking good care of his friend, having cleaned up all the previous vomit.
The sight of the insects made him think of how he had digested them, which was utterly nauseating.
Suddenly, a rich black energy filled the room, and Wen Wen, wearing a black robe, appeared out of nowhere, standing before Li Dazhuang and looking at him calmly with golden eyes that seemed to contain infinite mysteries.
Li Dazhuang was startled and quickly went on alert, but his Doom Guardian hadn’t fully recovered yet.
Wen Wen spoke in a commanding tone, "Don’t be nervous, I am not an enemy. You are the candidate Custodian Li Dazhuang recommended for recruitment, right? Would you like to join the Catastrophe Containment Facility?"
Li Dazhuang, remembering what Wen Wen had said before, nodded without hesitation, "Yes, I’m willing to join the Sanctuary."
"Then, let’s sign the contract now."
...
The contract signing process with Li Dazhuang went very smoothly, as he trusted Wen Wen and was very cooperative throughout the procedure.
And so, the Sanctuary gained another Custodian who could wield doom.
Wen Wen didn’t intentionally conceal his identity as a Custodian from him; after all, no matter how he was brought into the Sanctuary, as soon as he saw the monsters confined early on, he would surely learn of Wen Wen’s identity.
Unlike other Custodians, Wen Wen had saved Li Dazhuang several times, and the monsters he had captured during those rescues were mostly in the Sanctuary, so it would have been impossible to keep it secret from him; it was better to be candid.
After the whole process was completed, Wen Wen came out of the Sanctuary again and returned to the courtyard.
The guileless Li Dazhuang excitedly said to Wen Wen, "Mr. Wen, I’ve joined that organization."
"That was quick, we are now colleagues," Wen Wen said, pretending to be surprised. "But don’t talk about my identity to others in the future, it’s better to keep our status as Custodians somewhat confidential."
Li Dazhuang nodded; there was a clause in the contract that forbade the casual disclosure of other Custodians, and he was definitely going to keep his lips sealed.
He had already become a Containment Officer, so letting him hide here was no longer a good option. Entering the Sanctuary was the safest choice, and Wen Wen could rid himself of a burden.
So he said to Li Dazhuang, "Now that you’ve become a Containment Officer, you should enter the Sanctuary to take refuge. You’re currently unable to fight, so wait until the situation is almost over before coming out."
"By the way, someone will likely approach you about joining the Hunters Association. Just accept the offer. Our two organizations aren’t in conflict and we share the same goals, but don’t reveal your identity as a Containment Officer."
Li Dazhuang followed Wen Wen’s advice and obediently entered the Sanctuary.
In recruiting Li Dazhuang, aside from his abilities, Wen Wen had other plans in mind.
There were already several Demon Hunters in the Association who were also Containment Officers, but they had joined the Association before the Sanctuary, so their loyalty to the Hunters Association might be greater than to the Sanctuary.
Li Dazhuang had an unblemished record, and after this incident, the Hunters Association would certainly try to recruit him.
In doing so, he would become a Demon Hunter who trusted Wen Wen deeply and had higher loyalty to the Sanctuary—a perfect pawn for Wen Wen to place within the Hunters Association.
While feeling pleased with himself, Wen Wen raised his eyebrows; he sensed someone at the door.
"It’s really difficult to act like nothing happened after causing such a commotion earlier."
Wen Wen was not at all nervous. Only one person had come, and with Li Dazhuang and the others not around to slow him down, there was nothing to fear.
If worse came to worst, he could just slip away.
However, he was now somewhat concerned about Sifumo. The fact that someone had found him so quickly indicated that these monsters had strong control over this area. Wen Wen could escape directly, but Sifumo might very well be in danger.
After the previous encounter with Little Red Riding Hood, Wen Wen had realized that this town was not as simple as it seemed, and that there was definitely more than one Disaster Level monster!
"Come in. Why hide at the door?" Wen Wen called out brightly.
"At least this way, I can seem a bit more polite."
A cold voice came through as a man dressed in a black robe entered, followed by two fierce-looking hounds...
No, that was one; it had two heads!
Seeing the hound, Wen Wen had an epiphany. It was without question a monster from the Inner World, and its appearance bore similarities to the dogs raised by the Association in Songtao City!
By now, if Wen Wen couldn’t understand, he might as well feed his brain to the Three Cubs.
"You’re a Demon Hunter. You must have sworn an oath when you signed the contract. I’m very curious about what made you do this."
The man was surprised for a moment. He had come to negotiate with Wen Wen but didn’t expect to have his identity exposed upon meeting him.
"Truly impressive, Ranger. You actually discovered my identity. I’m in awe, I’m in awe. How did you find out?" The man’s praise lacked sincerity because he never thought he could perfectly conceal his identity.
"That dog behind you should be..." Wen Wen squatted down to look at the dog’s belly, then stood up and said, "It should be the father of those puppies you’ve been raising at the Association!"
The man laughed and threw back his cloak, and then Wen Wen said, "Nice to meet you, Ranger codenamed ’Pervert’. I am the captain of the Demon Hunter squad in Songtao City... Song Ling!"
